  1. No need to be jealous just because YOU can't do it. Living there all my life, I've figured out ways to catch them in any condition. Sorry to hear you can't do the same.
  2. Maybe come up and try it and let the rest of us know. Everyone just seems to want to know if the fish are biting, if it's worth the trip, if the top water bite is on, if this, if that. Every other post on here is asking for a report. How about YOU go fishing and give US a report for once! Here's the bottom line....there's fish to be caught ALL the time. Maybe if you get off your butt and go fishing instead of poking around on the internet for answers you'll catch some fish. I catch huge hybrids there EVERYTIME I go with water running or not. They're in there. You just have to know how to catch them. Just go fishing!!!
  3. Some crappie. Some catfish. A lot of trash fish (gar, drum, carp, etc). No topwater that I've heard of. If anything it's very sporadic.
  4. Water is extremely fast and rough. You will lose a lot of lures and go home skunked. Nobody catching anything. This cold front shut down the bite.
  5. I've been fishing nearly everyday down there. Some small white bass and a few small hybrids and some small crappie. Nobody has been catching anything big. I usually don't get into the big hybrids until June. You might want to wait a couple weeks until the big ones get here.
  6. Is the sidewalk hole accessible from shore? I plan to try it for stripers and whites in the next couple weeks from shore and was wondering if there's room along the shore to fish. Thanks!
  7. That's some good catching there F&F. Thanks for the report. Any hybrid, walleye, or striper action?
  8. Very cool video. Is this the "fly fishing only" zone below Beaver dam?
  9. Thanks Stump!
  10. Stump, what type of rivet are you talking about? Which ones exactly? I haven't heard of using a rivet to hold the wires together so I'm quite interested to see how you made yours. I'm trying to make my own too. lol.
  11. That's some good fishing F&F! I went out this weekend by the dam area fishing along the rip rap from shore and only thing I caught was a 21" smallmouth, my biggest to date. My dad caught a 22" walleye. We went real early, before day break in hopes of catching some stripers or whites/hybrids, but no luck. We'll keep trying, it's hard not having a boat.
  12. Stump bumper, how deep is it there on the flats west of hwy 12 bridge? Would it be likely that if I put out a big brood minnow under a bobber and let it swim freely around as far as I could throw that a striper might hit it? Just wondering. I might go out this weekend & try just that.
  13. Thanks F&F! What time of day would you suggest fishing?
  14. is it over? I was down by blunks this past Sunday morning and caught nothing but a 12 inch largemouth. Where are the white bass and have they called it quits already?
  15. When you say "fish" what are you referring to? White bass? Largemouth? Smallmouth?
  16. Very nice walleyes and hybrid. I was out near the dam area but no luck. Looks like I'll have to come down further south to prairie creek area and hwy 12 bridge. I'm looking to get into the whites, hybrids, and stripers. You think they'll still be there this weekend near the hwy 12 bridge? I'll be fishing from shore.
  17. Thanks F&F. Looks like I gotta get me a hotspot map too. lol. Any topwater action lately?
  18. I agree. AGFC reports are useless. I'm planning to head out there this weekend in hopes of catching a nice striper, hybrids, or whites. I may be fishing in the Indian Creek area. Btw, where is "Fish trap" hollow?
  19. Thanks F&F. Love reading your posts.
  20. Thanks for the report. I really enjoy reading your posts. I'm still learning to fish for stripers on the lake. It's been very challenging without a boat. Maybe I'll rent a boat this weekend and try that. Do you have any suggestions as "high percentage" areas that I could try? I'm thinking about freelining some XL shiners or shad (if I can get some) on each side of the boat. Then throw a 6" swimbait around to locate fish. I have 3 rods fitted with 50 lb braided line and 30 lb flourcarbon leader. It's not the best, but it's a start I guess. Haven't caught a striper yet.
  21. Do you guys think hwy 12 bridge would be a good area to fish from shore for some stripers? Me and my dad would like to try for some stripers from there. Or what other places (from shore) do you guys suggest? We have swim baits, bucktails, and we could get some live shad too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch!
  22. Thanks Lilley. We decided not to go. We decided to go try Beaver lake for some whites but didn't find any there either. Got skunked. The high winds and storm must've scared them off deeper. We're hoping we haven't missed the run on the James. If you guys hear anything, either PM me or post on here any updates at blunks or surrounding area. Thanks!
  23. Thanks Fishslayer. Do you think the spawn is over or yet to come? Or is the water too low right now?
  24. Hi all, I'm new here, but have been reading quite a bit the past couple months. I was thinking about fishing at blunks this weekend and was wondering if the whites are still there? Anyone know or heard if anyone has been catching them? It'll be a 3 hour drive for me and was wondering if it'll be worth the trip to bring some kids along for the white bass run. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
