  1. How big were they? If they were small, I'd hook one up to a 5/0 hook and toss it back out there a little deeper and hold on. I've had some big surprises in the past when doing that out of the same frustration you were having.
  2. Well they are running water and James has come up considerably and flowing much faster than normal. Not muddy though since it's not runoff water from rain.
  3. A pontoon on the james? How big is it?
  4. Awesome report! Did you mark any shad or see any shad back there?
  5. A Bernie boat? lol. That was funny. I want one too. Love where this thread is going.
  6. So how did it go this morning? Did you get into a mess of them?
  7. I've been on a tourney in the pacific ocean with a few short of 300 boats and thought the ocean wasn't big enough.
  8. This weekend you'll be competing with 300 other boats on the lake. Big Bass tournament is going on this weekend. Just an FYI.
  9. Hey Marcus, like the other guys said, if you just want to catch one, Stockton is the lake to go to. They aren't as big there as in the lakes of the white river system, but there's a good population there for a good chance at some good eating size ones. I normally don't fish the spawn, because the action is no where as good as the pre-spawn and post spawn, but you can still catch a few with reaction type baits there now. However, you're a month late on the better fishing. Just sayin. That's enough from my big mouth. Good luck and hope you hook up with one.
  10. Heard from a reliable source the whites are up Indian creek far back in the last couple coves the last few days in the late afternoons. Find the warmest water and that's where they'll be. They found water in the high 50's a couple days ago and were killing them back there. They were catching them on anything white or chrome. Good luck and hope they're still there if you do go.
  11. It's funny you say that, because walleye are very vulnerable and are congregated thick in certain spots on the lake at certain times of the year. And if you know what you're doing, you could easily catch a limit in very short time, go home put the fish away and come back to catch more. I know guys who have done that and have ruined a great spot because of it. All because of me and my big mouth. I'm so done with that.
  12. Because I'm a selfish greedy river rat bum. All seriousness aside, walleye just taste better than any other fish and many fisherman pursue them. So since it is a fragile and limited resource (they aren't very successful at spawning) if fisherman got good at catching them, the population would suffer considerably. With today's technology fisherman are getting better and better at locating and catching walleye, that many quality fisheries are ruined by over-fishing. Believe me when I say that a lake can not be big enough to avoid this. If walleye were like crappie or white bass and their spawn was just as successful, I wouldn't care as much. Call me narrow-minded or selfish, but yea, that's my view anyways. On another note, I'm all about helping people catch every other fish, just not walleye.
  13. Another angler making it sound easy. I read your reports, go out and catch a bunch of dinks or catch a whiff of skunk-bass. Obviously you guys know a little more about bass fishing than me. On the other hand, I know where to catch big walleyes, and that's a secret I will bring with me to the grave. hehe. I'm still learning bass fishing. It's a total different game. Nice fishing fellas! Glad you guys got into some toads.
  14. Hate it how some of you make it look so easy. Those are some fine looking smallies for sure. Good to see someone having some luck out there.
  15. Man I can't even imagine what I'd do if I lost my best friend like that. I have a yellow lab and he's about 9 yrs old too. Still healthy and everything, but you just never know on things like that. I'm not prepared to handle losing him anytime soon. I don't think I'll ever be.
  16. Sorry about your lost Roger. Was he sick for awhile?
  17. Excuse my ignorance, but I've never heard of this type of tournament where you weigh in bass every hour. Are you not fishing for the heaviest limit of bass? Or is it more geared towards the biggest bass per hour? I've read the rules and am still confused as to how this tournament is run and how a winner is determined. Can someone enlighten me?
  18. Mid to high 40's. Stained.
  19. Some of my buddies were there couple nights ago and no whites were there yet. I'd say another week or so, if weather cooperates, they should be up there.
  20. Any particular color you guys have had good luck with on the Rock from the whopper plopper? I've never tried it and wanted to get a couple to try for this spring.
  21. As a general rule, the closer you are to the dam the clearer the water. Up river the water is normally dirtier. I almost always use flouro in clear water, I've caught a lot more fish after making the switch to flouro. In dirty water, I normally can get away with just mono or sometimes even braid with no leader.
  22. Thanks Ryan. That is some awesome info. How long does it take to walk up to Taylor shoals on foot?
  23. I think Saturday was just a great day to fish. I was just reading another post on the LOZ forum, and there was a tournament held same day this Everett tourney was held and nearly everyone was catching fish at that tournament too. Can you believe that if you had an 18.5 lb bag you did not get a check that day? A lot of people had a 5 bass limit as well. Hmm....so what's this about tough fishing after a cold front?
  24. Yea I've had the same experience as well on more than one occassion, actually it's much harder to find one that'll run true. I've stopped using them because of that. I think it has to do with how the plastic is molded to the lead weight and where the hook is located. It needs to be molded nearly perfect for it to run true.
  25. lol. Definitely just a bunch of pros making it look easy or something. I've caught bigger bass in Table Rock...all things considered. But yes, would hate to have all the boat traffic move on down to Beaver. There's enough boats as it is. Too many internet scouts these days.
