  1. Decided to take the boat and head down to Jerome and put in there only to find the bridge was supposedly out..."road closed"..... so got back on I-44 and went a few miles on down to Dixon exit took hwy28 to PP and launched at Boiling Springs Camp Ground(nice place IMO) on the water at 7am fished til noon caught smallies the whole time and a few small largemouth, average size was 12-14", used tiny torpedo and you could cast just about anywhere and catch fish.......not really a problem with the 25hp prop motor, just had to use shallow water driver and go slow in the shallow areas.....went down about 2 miles and went up about a mile....will definately go back.....1 1/2 hours from Eureka, not bad for a day trip. Water was fairly clear, little tint to it. Went on Sunday and seen a total of 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and maybe a half dozen jet boats......very quiet IMO.
  2. Neither do you with 48 posts.
  3. I've seen the flying carp and this its not, they are flatter through the middle, this thing was more round through the middle....so it must be a bighead carp.......me being the catch and release kinda guy I am let it go not really thinking that it is an invasive species and should have destroyed it......lesson learned.
  4. Redneck Tarpon that is.....went down and put in at St. Clair Hwy30 ramp went up river and started out catching a few 12" smallies on a tiny torpedo ultra light 4lb test...then this thing came up and engulfed the torpedo like a shark......one hour and fifteen minutes later got my torpedo back.
  5. Nothing will ever change if Mo DNR can't get some money for more Conservation Police for enforcement of the regulations that we have. I fish and hunt way more than the average Joe and I have only been stopped/checked maybe 5 times in the last 10 years that I can think of. Don't know how many CP's that Missouri has, but it is NOT enough. I was down at Taneycomo just 2 weeks ago and got up early, walked down to the dock where I was staying and some guy is walking to the fish cleaning station with about 10 trout.....I said " little over the limit aren't you?" he said...."yea, maybe a few" and laughed. Whatta ya do in that situation, by the time I call Poacher hotline and somebody gets there, this guy is gone.
  6. I don't know but I gotta go there, just got back from Taneycomo and found one nice anchor, one rod and reel and one pair of Expensive sun glasses and wasn't even trying....they were right in the open laying on the bottom. If any of the stuff is yours and you can describe the items and live in St. Louis you more than welcome to come and get them.
  7. I'll tell ya Monday after the trip this weekend....... Cain to Turner
  8. Nice report! Thanks for posting!! Looking to get back down there in a couple weeks....Cane to Turner........last time was 6ft high and thats all I've seen(only one time there), so will be nice to hopefully see the river at normal stage.
  9. Not a lot to report....there ARE stockers in there and lots of them. Fri, Sat, Sunday little to no water running and bright skies....fishing tough to say the least....being a fly fisherman had to resort to a UL and powerbait eggs and inflated nightcrawlers to catch fish( from Fall Creek to 65 Bridge). Actually the pressure was pretty tough from Fall to Short, so we fished below Cooper and did much better the bluff side with all the wood in the water. Monday and Tuesday they ran water 24/7....fishing picked up but still had only chasers on early morning and late evening streamers..... lots of fish chased trout magnet but would not commit even with 2lb leader.....caught more stockers browns and rainbows, but nothing over 14". Did not get above Fall Creek, my buddies don't do the artificial thing...no big deal....next time. I promised to put up a report, good or bad just because I appreciate all the other guys that post reports. The weather was nice, the water was cold and the food was good....next stop White River.
  10. Justin.....excellent video!!! Looks like you had a great trip....thanks for posting. Born to Fish.....I use Cyberlink Powerdirector 10 for editing on my GP.....curious what Justin uses too.....did a good job.
  11. Hope you have a great trip....better take you 10wt up there...those fish are BIG!!
  12. Travis.....wow....those were some real nice looking browns, great color! thanks for posting up a report. I'll be down there 21st through 25th, so I'll post up when I get back. I'll be down there with some friends and they will probably be doing shows and Silver Dollar City, so I may have an open spot in the boat if anybody is interested. Shoot me an email garry830@gmail.com anytime...with a phone number...I check my phone for emails pretty regular. Last year we followed Phil around(incognito....LOL) and he showed us a great spot(unknowingly) and we caught an 8lb brown, 5lb and 3lb rainbow all in the same area streamer fishing at night.

    Nice footage...thanks for posting up!
  15. Don't get your hopes too high....more darn rain in the forecast.
  16. Its a 9ft Outcast Discovery in stainless and extremely stable. Its rated for 400lb pay load and its got about 300 of that in the pic. Yes I am riding about 4" higher than normal...put in a swivel on the chair and a quick release....actually like being up a little higher. Fly rod holders on on my right side fabbed out of PVC. This was our first overnighter and already found a bunch of stuff to eliminate next trip. My buddy has one in green, same boat. Matter fact I got it from Sean C on here who frequents the NFOW after he bought a Clacka Craft Drifter......only been doing this fly fishing gig for 3 years now and learned everything from Sean and you guys on Ozark Anglers and my buddy Rob. I'm totally addicted!!!
  17. We put in at Cain Bluff Friday morning after it had rained all day the day before and all night and the river I'm guessing was probably around 8-900 cfs, not bad. Rained all freaking day, temp was around 40 degrees, my fingers were numb. Hammered smallies all the way down set up camp about 2 miles north of 19 bridge, nice HIGH sandy bank, river came up 6" in about 2 hours from 5-7pm. Day two river is now way up, caught more smallies, largest around 4lbs. rest ran a stout 1-1 1/2lbs and bellys were full. When we hit where Greers spring dumps in the river really got crazy, Brian told us it was up around 2200 cfs when we got back sunday......now its just a matter of getting to Turner, river flow was really too much to get down to the trout even with 350 grain line(fly rods are all we use). Navigating the heavy flow was not too tough but I guess a mistake could have been pretty serious. I would NOT recommend it......we had already canceled the prior two week ends and the river had not done much and now it decides to get wild, I guess it came up 3 or 4 feet total....thats just a guess. Beautiful place, first time there, can't wait to get back when things are normal. Big thanks to Brian Sloss for running our shuttle, super guy! Big thanks to all the folks who post on this forum it helped us prepare for our first trip to the Eleven Point. Next trip is Cain Bluff to Riverton.
  18. Thanks for the report, I'm going down for 3 days in 2 weeks......I'll try to learn from your mistakes...happens to the best of us.....at least you could find some humor in it... but I'm assuming you weren't laughing when you went under.
  19. Nice pictures.....LOVE the snow!

Nice fish!!! You just made my day......needed to see a report with a decent fish and that is good fish in my book!!!
  21. Got down to Maramec around 10:00am(slept in) snowing pretty good, temp was around 34, not many people. I was fly fishing so I caught most of my fish on #8 White Woolly Booger with flash and Peach eggs. Tried black everything with the stained water but white seemed to be the ticket. The fairywand fishermen were catching plenty of limits with that cheese stuff they use Only seen 4 fly rods including mine. Water was UP and moving with lots of color, visibility was about 6 inches.....lot of stockers being caught. Biggest fish was 3lb. rainbow, you'll just have to believe that cause I don't take many pictures unless its a hog. Only second time I've ever been there and now I remember why, but great place to take a kid cause you don't need waders just bring lots of PowerBait and CHEESE.....everybody caught fish!! 5 bucks to get through the gate and 3 bucks to fish...just sayin' Nothin' wrong with fairywand, I have one, thats just what I call them.
  22. Yea, I like the Powerdirector 10 also....Brian Wise turned me onto it......his vids kind of inspired me to do something. To me the vids that everybody make are the next best thing to being there, yea theres some that are not so good, like us beginners and we'll get better, but there some goods stuff out there too. They are great to watch when ya can't go for sure!!!
  23. That was fun clip! I guess I'm getting old, but did those guys from F&S, seem like kids? They did a great job!
  24. That was great! Nice vid.....I liked the fast forward effect in the car!! See the DU head hanging from the mirror....right on!! Brian Wise turned me onto Powerdirect 10......I'm learning from you guys!!
