  1. Thanks SRJ. I'll give it a go this Sunday. I will report back to all with the report. I am sure this big front didn't help but have to go when you can.
  2. Headed up again this weekend. Trolled here and there. Tried to target 20 fow. Wind was tough. Came home w 2 keeper crappie. Still struggling finding fish. When the wind calms down I'll try the bluffs per beagles advice. Thanks all
  3. Love catching drum. Looks like you did great for your first trip. Congratulations! Well done sir!
  4. Typically I spend this time of year in a tree stand around pomme, but I am starting to prefer to fish over hunt. Must be my age. Anyways, anyone have good luck dragging cranks in the fall on pomme? I'm not really targeting any specific species, mostly catch n release anyways. Thanks for feedback.
  5. Thanks Beagle. I'm headed up this weekend. I'll post back. What weight jigs? 1/8, 1/4? Thank you again
  6. well, I figure I'll post back how it went. Tried to stay in 20-30 fow. Brought home 2 keeper crappie and 1 white bass. A long afternoon. Still haven't figured out the fall pattern. I've spent so many years in a tree this time of year, I don't know how to fish the fall!! Advice still welcome!!
  7. Stockton is a great lake in most any area. I typically put in at cedar ridge and work the coves and points just to the west of that area. I think just about anywhere you go on that lake in the mid section to dam area of the lake would produce similar results. The big keys are to get a contour map and look for the structures that you think would hold fish......channel swings in the main river channel, long gravel points, steep bluffs, etc. The best advice I have for Stockton is just go and see what happens and build from there. I have no idea about fall trolling, which is why I started this thread. It sounds like some fish could be caught if you cover some distance and vary your presentation. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  8. Hello Stockton Trollers. I have been trolling Stockton now for 2 years now and absolutely love it. It's a fantastic fishery. I typically spend the fall in a tree stand, but this fall I would like to spend a little time pulling some crankbaits like I do in the spring. What adjustments do I need to make in fall fishing as compared to spring? What depths should be targeted? What contours should be targeted? What depth of crank should one pull? Thank you for pointing out a few basic fall tactics to a would be bow hunter. Typically I target crappie and walleye, but love to catch whatever bites. I don't discriminate based on race or gender!
  9. Obviously an intentional cut. In my humble opinion when they do catch this guy, and they will because someone always talks, they should cut his bottom lip in the same fashion. An eye for an eye. I guess I would settle for an alternative consequence of confiscating all equipment used to commit the crime including boat, poles, etc.. Then fishing privileges should be revoked for life.
  10. How far up long did you go to find such beautiful slabs?
  11. I'll have some time available this coming weekend to hit the long creek/cricket creek/Brushy creek area. Anyone have any recent reports or insights to how the crappie and white bass bite is going down on that end? Thanks
  12. Well, guess I'll chime in.....I was tonto for the ranger capndan yesterday and boy what a blast catching 3lb whites 50 yards behind the boat on the troll. Like many of you, I am lucky to know someone who will share how to catch some fish. As he posted, got our limits of whites yesterday at the mouth of flat. Must be a bunch of shad in there because the gulls were thick this morning. Marked most of my fish in 20 fow down towards the bottom early this morning. Had my limit of whites by 9:30m although I did miss my favorite discontinued flicker shad that is in a pro craft prop. Surface water temp was 48 by 9 am. Crappie shut off for me once all the boats showed up to get after it. Thanks for the posts and tight lines all.
  13. Nice job dd. we're you catching them on the bottom? I am going to head out in the morning. I have this week to fish. Thanks
  14. Thanks dd. how deep were the fish in that 15-25 fow? Thanks again for the feedback. I'll be sure to post how I do
  15. Thanks That would be great I'll try to report what we find next week
  16. Well I didn't think too much of the smallmouth at the time, but after hearing what you have shared Bill, wow, what a great fish! I did get a pic of it. I'll learn how to start adding posts to these pics. DD, keep us posted how today's trip went. Thanks!
  17. We actually ran down to rock away for a couple minutes.....made one cast into a lay down tree.....bam, 15in smallmouth. Didn't stay long but I bet if you worked a grub you could catch some smallies
  18. Thank you. We fished upper taneycomo Saturday and put over 100 fish in the boat. Kind of trouted out. I''ve got a week to fish because we're on spring break. I'll probably hit stockton one day looking for eyes and crappie. Probably hit upper kings looking for crappie and eyes, and I have a 3rd day I don't know what to do with. I'll probably hit Bridgeport before the paddle fishing gets under way the following Saturday of March 15. Anyone who hits a few whites around Bridgeport, please keep us posted. As always thanks for the feedback dd and bb.
  19. Outside of little sac or turn back? Off work next week march 10-14 and was hoping to chase some whites. Last year they were stacking up this time, but this was a different winter! Thanks
  20. I am off work next week march 10-14 and was thinking about chasing a few white bass around Bridgeport. Last year we caught them staging in late February but this winter has been completely different. Any feedback would be appreciated
  21. Shockley, random question, are most of the participants in these spider rigging? Buddy and I were talking about it and was just curious
  22. Great catch! Can I ask what technique you were using? Brush, standing timber, shad ball? Thanks
  23. RS - Let me get this straight....no one would see or post the pics? Really? Yes that is an assumption, but most guys do like to show off pics of their catches. Maybe I'm the only one who does that. And as for your comment on snickerdoodle guy.....I have seen first hand the crappie pressure increase and numbers decrease since he started posting those.......notice he doesn't have any for this winter? Wonder Why?????????? Now, I do think you and I see eye to eye on the boathouse, but that's the nature of a lake right in the city. It's gonna happen. And I do think a CPR tournament would be a great fun idea. I just don't like more and more people fishing where it's already a bumper car situation. It doesn't really matter me much one way or the other. I was just trying to clarify what someone in an earlier post said and offer my two cents. It's not important enough for me to argue about. It's a forum for sharing opinions and I appreciate the opportunity to do that. Good luck this spring to all
  24. I think what they're saying is once some other people start seeing some pictures, a whole bunch of people who would not normally go there would start going there adding to the existing pressure. A buddy drove over the 65 bridge a couple weeks ago before it froze on a nice day, counted 9 boats he could see from the bridge. This was not on a weekend. I agree the CPR folks would not change much, but their photos would.
