    Finally

Very encouraging to see the shorts. I am constantly surprised by how the size keeps evolving every year. I started walleye fishing Stockton 5 or 6 years ago and the first few years the norm was 14.5 to 15.5 inch fish. This year have caught a lot more 17 to 21 inch fish. The shorts seem to be around 13 inches. Rarely catch a 15 inch fish. Just about every trip this year we have at at least one fish over 20 inches with most trips multiple fish over 20. Numbers of fish per trip have been down. With 25 to 30 being about the top. Where in years past have had a few trips a year in the 50 to 60 fish range. Definitely not complaining. Just fun to look back through the journal and see the difference in each year.

    Finally

Got to fish today. It's been a month. Not just that but my favorite month to fish. Any ways my best partner and I got out and caught a few. Had 7 keepers and 17 shorts. 20 to 25 ft on a main lake point. Bottom bouncing. Took 5 home haven't gotten to eat any for a while. All 17.5 or better. Best 21
  3. Yes go walleye fishing you will catch all the bluegill you want.
  4. Great report sounds like you had them dialed. Good job
  5. Yes I had the same problem. But I got some new rods and decided to just put mono on them, Instead of braid or floro and only had 2 roll overs and line wrap around the treble. And I jigging rapped for at least 2 hrs. So I was very pleased.
  6. Well a little different. Pulled up on my most recent spot that I have caught a few walleye recently. Tried jigging raps for the first hour of the day. Caught 3 in short order one was a 21.5 incher. Switched to bb and very tough. Had 3 over the next 4 hrs. Finally decided to try another spot yes I was stubborn.. Pulled in bottom bounced imediately caught a short. Then lost I a big big one at the boat. Got a little miffed so started jigging rappin again caught 4 more keepers pretty quickly. And another short. Ended with 8 keepers and 4 shorts. Best bite was 20 to 25 ft. Made a tough day a pretty good one by the end. Fished 6 to 7 hrs.
  7. Yes points and flats. And backs of coves. We have in the last 2 weeks caught them in water 14 to 27 ft deep. I know that doesn't narrow it down much. Look for some structure. ie. Brush pile rock pile or drop off and take a pass or 2 over it if no action move on. You will catch some. Remember speed I run .9 to 1.1. I will be down this morning as well if you see a black nitro zv18 stop and say hi.
  8. Mike and Sloth you guys r way to kind. I appreciate the offer. Lets do that soon.
  9. Well I am very pleased with it. The 150 pushes it 41 loaded and have gotten 43 with a good south breeze at my back. Lol. And the ride is great so love the boat unless you have an unlimited amount of money and could move up to a 21 footer. Lol. Even then I think this boat fits me better. Now the trolling motor.... I think I prefer my ultera I had in my other rig. But with that said I have not learned all the bells and whistles of having trolling motor and depth finder linked up so I am sure when I learn it will be much better. Depth finders. I love the ease of use for the hummingbirds on my other rig. But as far as I can tell I am able to distinguish fish better on my hds's. And again need to learn the bells and whistles better. But I am finding it hard to make myself learn when I get on the water I want to be fishing instead of scrolling thru menus. So with all of the the short answer is I love it. Lol. Thank you for compliment.
  10. Wife and I in one boat and Sister and boy friend in another had a pretty good day we had 25 with 9 keepers and they had 15 with 8 keepers. Bb with harnesses 20 to 25 ft was best. 2 best were 23 and 23.5. Wife edged me by a half inch. Lol
  11. Great Job.
  12. Great job.
  13. I usually try to stay at 1 to 1.1 mph. The other thing I do is every so often I will drop my rod tip back a couple feet to pause my spinner when I pull back forward. A lot of times the fish will be on there. It triggers the strike from fish following it.
  14. Got on the lake very windy. Fished for about 15 minuted let's turn back and go back through our spot and nothing. Uh oh trolling motor doesn't seem to be working. Lift it out of the water no prop. Lol. The keeper but must have loosened or shear pin broke. Not sure. Well after running all over the lake looking for a Prop finally found one at state park. Lesson learned always Cary a spare. Finally got back to fishing around 1:30 Fished till about 6:30. Had 12 keeper walleye and 3 shorts. All keepers in the 17 to 18 inch range. About 16 to 18 ft deep. Bottom bouncing. Not a bad day after the rough start. Water temp right at 80. Kept 2 for dinner rest r still there.
  15. Easiest way to catch some walleye that doesn't take any fancy equipment use a quarter or 1/8 ounce jig with a half a night crawler and bounce in along the bottom from 12 to 20 ft of water on a point. One with the river channel swinging in close to it. Will put some walleye in the boat.
  16. What you don't like my skinny legs and beer belly?
  17. There's one at Orleans trail.
  18. Had a wonderful day a little windy but not blazing hot. Had 12 Walleye 10 keepers. We kept our 8 none of which were under 18 inches. Biggest 21 inches. Harnesses and crawlers 16ft if water.
  19. That is a good first trip down. Glad you had a good one. I really love Stockton lake. I wish I lived closer. Welcome to the site.
  20. Have fished a few times over the last month. Been catching 5 to 8 walleye per trip. Went today wife and I had 11 walleye with 10 being keepers. Kept 5 for the fryer. Biggest 22 inches. Bottom bouncing and crawler harnesses. 15Ft of water. Water temp around 80. Caught several keeper bass also. Wife caught a nice small mouth.
  21. Wife and I went to Stockton to enjoy the beautiful day. Had 7 keeper walleye kept 6. 7th was the biggest 20 inches but had scoliosis so we didn't keep it. Bb with harnesses in 15'water. Temp was around 65. Already cleaned one when I took pic.
  22. Well it is a ZV18 18'11" and 102" wide. and weighs about 300 lbs more than my last boat that I had a 150 on. I was just concerned about getting up on plane BPS said that it would run 41 to 43 and I new that would be plenty fast for me. I guess I got caught up in everyone saying to put max horse power on the boat when you buy one and this one didn't have it so was a little apprehensive. As long as I can learn the trolling motor and the fish finders I am very pleased with the purchase so far.
  23. The Mrs and I fished for about 3 hrs yesterday in a pretty good wind. Caught 2 16 inch walleye and 1 spot. 55 degree water. Breaking in motor but for the 1 minute I could have it full throttle got 42 mph. I was really worried the 150 would have trouble with the bigger boat. But I was completely satisfied. 42 is plenty fast for us
  24. Thanks for the info gonna give it a try the next couple days. Again way to lay it on them yesterday.
  25. Man that is a great day. When you say spinners do you mean crawler harnesses? Mind saying what the water temp was?
