  1. The first picture here is a couple of the Indy Caddis. Second, a Klinkhamer Special. Designed for Grayling originally, but can hold up some good sized nymphs with the right materials. The third, is a Q-Tip designed by Loren Williams. This fly is nothing more than snowshoe rabbits foot. Cut a hunk off, brush out the underfur and dub your body with this. Take the rest and put it in a stacker. Get the tips lined up and tie them in for a wing. Cut it off like you would the wing on an EHC. All three of these flies will catch trout. Good Luck!
  2. I tie CDC indicator caddis... Body: CDC or Seals fur dubbing Wing: I tie it about 2/3 of the way up the hook shank. CDC... Lots of CDC, stack that stuff on there real good. Hackle: Stuff the remainder of the front of the fly with hackle. Put whatever color you want up there, I like brown. I tie these with quite a few colors, Chartreuse, Orange, Pink or White cdc. I can't upload my picture of it one here... But I will try to get another.
  3. Don't worry about "not being fly fishing"... According to purists I haven't been fly fishing in more than 4 years haha
  4. I'm not sure how deep these lakes are but you may want to try sinking lines. Chironomids and scuds are often things overlooked. Fishing these on a static line or even a super s-l-o-w strip work. Blobs are good stocker flies. Try brighter colors like everyone is suggesting. Most lake flies have a lot of motion in them. Long marabou tails and dubbing bodies. Lakes are a mystery, every time you go to one it's like a new puzzle. Fast retrieves, slow retrieves, no retrieve? You never know. Find structure, weed beds, a little log, drop offs.
  5. You're not understanding the fact that the one bass is horizontal regardless of the fact that Mr. Iaconelli is not supporting the stomach of the fish. Well, I'm seeing that we can't have a conversation without one of us wanting to disagree about something.
  6. Flytyer, which way would you rather see someone hold a bass? Horizontally, or vertically?
  7. Flytyer, I mean by lipping the fish. I wouldn't think that holding a bass vertical would have as much of a strain on the fish as holding the fish horizontally. Maybe I'm wrong?
  8. Holding a large bass by the lip can break bones. Therefore the fish cannot open and close its mouth properly and will die because it can't eat. If you google this the top 3 of 4 are all things on how to properly handle a bass. Of course, I know this is not about bass, but trout. I believe this could go the same way on a trout. I don't like BASS because of the way they handle their fish. Keeping them out of the water for absurd amounts of time and holding the fish completely horizontal. Surely they're killing a few. When I was little my dad and I would compete in bass tournaments, when everyone had to go release their catch from the day you always saw fish just roll over belly up...
  9. Hey, leave him/her alone! S/he has feelings too ya know! It needs a pork chop hanging off the side.
  10. Flake here, That's odd. I sent mine last week between the weather. I'll send another tomorrow. Let me know when they show up.
  11. Pretty simple fishing. Buggers in Olive and Black as always. Some zebras and some pheasant tails in pretty small sizes work most of the time. Soft hackles will pick up midging fish most of the time. And whatever you like to fish for a dry. I like adams and Hares ear dries. Pretty much wherever you go to fish down here has the same water. A riffle every once in a great while with a lot of flat water. Not too deep in a lot of places.
  12. Well, I said I would have mine out by now... But you see, Oklahoma gets a couple of inches of snow and we shut down schools So, they sit in an envelope waiting for roads to clear to hit the Post Office.
  13. What are the water conditions of Crane at the moment? I really want to get up there and fish that stuff.
  14. That's awesome, Tim. Are you fishing to specific risers or just blindy over fish hoping for a rise?
  15. I like working like an assassin. I don't like you guys knowin what I'm up to
  16. Do I need to put anything with these? Like a tag or somethin?
  17. Where did you go on the river?
  18. I agree with the crazy guy up there. I'm fishing a 9wt Rio Outbound on an 8wt TFO. I throw some larger flies for stripers and I feel I am able to cast them farther. If you're going to be casting heavy rigs, I'd bump my line up. If you're going to be casting single dry flies or something to the liking, I'd keep it the same and just fish a DT line.
  19. I'd go pick up that 6wt from the fly shop. Good price range and I'm sure you can turn a 4lb bass no problem.
  20. Great! Thanks for posting that here on the board.
  21. Yes, it's operational. For all I know, just go down there and pay directly to the attendant.
  22. They were already home
  23. That was a bit far don't you think?
  24. I'm not sure. I didn't stick around too long. Was with my girlfriend and we just kinda hung out.
