If the tigers keep getting better, as I think they will, I see them as at least a 3 seed!!! This is a team not ranked to start the year and now 12 or so!!! Illinois will be a big game for them!!!

I like the way the tigers adjusted after half in both the semo and tenn st games. They were a different team that got after it, especially on D, and took it to the hole on the offensive end. I do not know if they will win as many games as last year, but I think they will be a better team!!!! So much bigger, stronger, and deeper, .....they have to advance deeper in the tournament than they did last year!!!! (which is not saying much)
  3. what did you catch....??? rainbows???
  4. .....that what I get for listening to others instead of myself!!!!!..........as in, should have put in at whitten and spent the day at whites creek not caring who likes it or not there!!!!!
  5. Is this a bad idea or would it be no big deal??? also, would whitten be so crowded a guy would have a hard time getting in and out of there??? any thoughts out there....was going to be in the area and would like to get a line wet but not interested in dodging bullets!!!
  6. they come up from the Mississippi River to spawn!!!
  7. ...wasn't but a few years ago, we had this same discussion!!! It would be nice....thinking Gavin hit the nose on the head......Feds calling the shots!!!
  8. agree about the latter category!!! Was thinking that there is a campground with hookups a mile or two west of the 160 bridge......and one could be shuttled from there!!!
  9. I know where I am and I am glad he learned from his mistake and let boggs do his job in game 2.......repski would have walked the guy then if the pitch was that far off the plate or he would have thrown one down the middle on the 3-2 pitch...my point is, repski has been weak all year and anyone who has been following the birds as closely as I have knows that.....I doubt we see repski any more when a game is on the line(this year).....and if we get by the nationals, we may even see Freeman on the roster!!!...Go Birds!!!!!.......and if the umpires do not squeeze Lohse, we should finish it off today!!!!
  10. cards should be up 2-0 on nationals.....matheny messed up by bring in repski and not letting bogs get the last out in the 8th. He did the right thing last nite....that LH Tracy was not going to hit boggs, as he proved last nite. If Matheny would have allowed him to pitch Sunday to him....like I said 2-0......rookie mistake of over managing!!! Boggs has been the 8th inning guy all year....Repski has struggled allyear!!!...what about that Rosenthal??? need to see more of him this week......101 mph.....had that rookie harper humming the batter blues!!!
  11. it is OK, they were lower Mississippi River fish......might have even been them asian ones!!!
  12. This past winter, saw over 30 at one time hanging out in the trees and diving into a holding pond/slough at the old Marina in Ste Genevieve. It is nearly on the Mississippi River....the slough was low and beginning to freeze over and they were feasting on fish......sat in my truck and watched for nearly 30 minutes. One of the prettiest sights of nature I think I ever saw!!! You can go there during the winter and see some almost every time....but nothing like that!!!
  13. ...I am thinkin there will be better weekends on the horizon...!!!...
  14. ...ask them to work on the turner boat ramp while they are at it.....while the river is closed!!!
  15. bologna and ripe home grown tomatoes.....if in season for the lunch. Put it on bread with some mustard and it does the trick! A bag of chips or two and some oberle sausage from Calliers or homemade wieners to snack on with some anheuser products in between.....sometimes, we just take some hot dog buns and some dogs to stick if we feel like roughin' it.
  16. you are right ....usually good fishing at the sticks, but not so lately.....I find the area right before the float camp .....that deep hole ....looks great, but I find it hard to fish. Wading is impossible..how you fish it???
  17. yea....i figured out it was horseshoe bend after a while!!! sounds to me like you usually camp at what we call "the sticks", which is just below "sand island". A good place to camp and catch fish....sun on you though a big part of the day if camp set up near noon.
  18. feeling stupid here...but what is the HSB campsite and what was my suggestion??? ......btw, where did you catch the wally??? general area......was thinkin they were all about gone!!
  19. glad you had a good time and caught some nice fish!!! ...would hate to see signage on this river...houses, cabins, cows and sows, purple paint, and signs ......all turnoffs to me while on a river!!!
  20. kev..........couple of things to add. For the non fly fishermen, use 4 lb low vis green. 2 sheds is right on with what he says. The gravel bars will be better for camping than the float camp. If stinkin pond is taken, (gravel bar) very well could be late on a satrday, hit the next gravel bar. Fishing is impossible from most float camps IMO. The nasty snag will be after the 2nd 90 degree turn in the river below turner. You make the turn, the river pools for 100 yds or so, and then the river channels to the left. The tree juts out from the left bank angled pointing to 2:00. The little gravel bar on the right is where you need to pull out to walk past. I have witnessed all the canoes tip here my last two trips. Sat in my boat just waitin to help pick up stuff!!!! Do not know how good the boys are at fishing, but if they are novices, you may want to take some worms or corn......a guy could catch about anything and have lots of action on worms.....to keep the boys interest if things are slow for them.
  21. nahhh...we missed each other. We were leapfroggin a couple from south of memphis, two couples from KC, and a group of 3 kids and two dads from willow springs. My oldest son bear hugged that "hook" to keep himself in his kayak......I had a rope tied to the front of my canoe to keep mom and me dry.....learned lesson a few years back.....she keeps bringin it up!!!! BTW, the fishing was good, nothing real big, but plenty of action whenever we wanted it. a couple of spots most productive to those who are familiar.....Brantley Park and Sand Island.....did not spend much time at Emma's or Stinkin Pond, even though Emma's worked for me...boys snagged many while driftin in the yaks.
  22. that would be "fisherman's hook" that you all are referring to....no easy way past it, esp with the water low and going to the right is the worst thing you can do right now. You will drag and then hit it solid....Jeff, we were on the river on Saturday also, must have just been in front of you all the way down. We put in at Turner around 10:00 and got out at riverton 7:15.......had not been way down there for a while and could not help but notice how the river has changed....use to be able to walk past halls bay, now there is a gravel wall about 4 feet high on the left side past it. Also, lots of downed trees......
  23. let you know at the next pub club meeting...
  24. yeah.....what the ramblin man rambled!!! you still thinking about going, are have your plans changed due to a threat of rain???
  25. ..............and some Ozark Mountain Daredevil cover!!!!
