Thanks! I will remember that for next time

Went out bass fishing on lake 35 this evening with my brother. We had pretty good action on soft plastics and top water anywhere near thick vegetation. Most of our fish weren't very big, except one caught by my brother. It weighed around 5 pounds. Also had a follow from a very small Muskie. How do I rotate my pictures before I post them?

It is very tough sometimes under these conditions, but we both know that's just how the meramac is. I have my best luck when the river first starts to rise. Rising water is almost always better fishing than falling water at least for me.
-
Went down to the meramac today and fished one of my favorite spots for when the river is high and muddy. Ended up with 4 spots, 2 largemouth, 1 sauger, and 1 walleye. All on cranks

friday the 13th report

30 crappie in four hours is a great morning! Looks like I need to get some 2 inch keitechs -
That's a monster! Did you catch it from shore?
-
Thanks!! By the way good choice with the keitechs. Good luck I hope you catch one!
-
I was throwing a swimbait. I have now caught almost every species in the lake on that bait!
-
Thanks! The water clarity was very good I could see at least 3-4 feet down. It hit probably 35-40 yards off shore so not too far out, but probably too far to cast. I bet there are some shallower than that though

Went to Busch this morning for a few hours and did some Muskie fishing. Didn't get any action on Muskie lures so I tried targeting them with bass lures and caught this guy.
-
I've fished Busch a lot in the last few weeks over winter break fly fishing at the CnR lakes. For me there's always one lake better than the other and surprisingly 21 was better most of the time. Since its so muddy there I only use two kids of flies- leeches/wooly buggers when it's windy and glo balls when it's calm. These also work at 28 but since the waters clearer there I like to catch em on midges and nymphs

I stopped by mermac spring on Saturday. The water was almost back to normal height but still pretty muddy so I fished westover farms instead. The fishing was very good.
-
I was planning on going down saturday but I don't know if it's open or not. It looks like the river at cooks station never flooded too bad so I was thinking it might be fishable by then

Trout Fishing MO Rivers - Need Help - Reading the River

How do you know when the Browns will be stocked? Or have they already been? -
I saw that Allenton post. Simply incredible. Thanks I'll try to make it back out tomorrow!

Just got back from the river. Fished RT 66 down stream from the bridge. The upstream bank looked steep and hard to navigate. Didn't do too bad for just being there a little over an hour. I caught a few small spots and a decent little sauger. My brother caught a nice channel and a 12 inch spot. We used cranks and swimbaits. I couldn't find any good walk the dog style baits to bring so I avoided top water altogether which was probably a mistake because there were fish busting on baitfish everywhere. Might go back tomorrow when I have more time. Still need to get those whites
-
Yeah thanks a lot! Not many share info like this
-
Smalliebiggs where do you access at rt. 66? It looks like there's access on both sides of the river there
-
Awesome! I've been craving some whites lately. Im gonna hit the river early Saturday morning
-
The drum definitely keep things interesting. I get one almost every time I'm down by the 40 bridge.
-
Yeah that's how it's been lately. I try to hit as many spots as possible if I'm not catching fish. I'd love to get on some whites but for some reason I haven't caught more than one in a day since the water was higher in August.
-
Thanks smalliebigs! I'm sure once I catch my first hybrid from the Mac I'll be hooked. I had the day off school today and took a short trip to the river. For about 20 minutes the fish were biting and I caught this guy to help boost my confidence. I'm sure a few guys on here will recognize the spot just by looking at the background. I learned about it from one of smalliebigs posts

Fished the same spot again Sunday and only caught one little smallie. Also fished further down stream near valley park with nothing to show for it. I have fished the Meramac more than ever this year and still haven't found a reliable pattern. Every spot I fish has produced but it seems like the fish don't stay there or at least only feed for a short period of time unlike any other river I have fished. It's challenging to say the least but keeps me coming back

the buffalo was much more dead weight but made some amazing runs when it got closer to shore. Thought I had a monster when I first hooked it
-
fished the lower mac this morning in the Eureka area and finally came back with something to report about. Ended up with three smallies, two spots, and a buffalo. Biggest was a smallie probably around 16-17 inches but didn't get an official length. Caught em on the Ned rig and a crankbait. Fish were in the slower current
