  1. If You get the chance to go again soon give the rattle trap a chance. It's really produced well for me in ponds and the rocky dam sounds like an ideal spot to throw it.
  2. Try a pretty aggressive ripping retrieve with the rattle trap.
  3. I grew up fishing without a real boat and mainly fished ponds and creeks. I have had great success in early spring with bluegill Colored rattle traps. As far as the shallows a 4 inch carolina rigged red lizard is my go to for ponds with any kind of vegetation. The Yamamoto fat in dark natural colors rigged weightless is always a great option as the water warms. And I always have some 1/4 oz spinner baits handy. They're good year round in a pond. Hope this helps and Goodluck
  4. I can't offer any info for table rock but in the upper end of beaver I've had some success with white marabou jigs. Pjs finese baits makes the ones we use. And as for fishing with your grandson the best fishing memories I have by far are fishing with grandpa. I'd give up all my biggest fish and then some to catch one more With my grandpa. I hope yall can get on them.

    Jerk Baits

It's time to restock the jerkbait box. Has anyone had any luck with the Rick clunn jerkbaits? I've never used one but they look decent and are way easier on the wallet than the megabass or the other "premium" baits. Im sure the fancy baits have their advantages, and I see lots of talk about them on this forum, but i cant afford to fill a box with 25 dollar baits that i will more than likely give up to the river. Any advice will be appreciated.
  6. I use p-line on all my spinning reels. As far as tangles and twists go, occasionally troll your line with nothing tied on behind the boat for a short distance. You will be amazed how much longer you can run the the same line.
  7. No water. Seriously low for fishing. The pool below the spill way has been disconnected from the river since spring. And twin bridges looks impassable by boat.
  8. And you were correct about the ducks. I know that's probably not the most productive area of the lake for waterfowl but I figured I would see some flying or in a yard or something. Not a single duck
  9. Just got in from my trip. I had some errands to run after work so I ended up putting in a blue springs around 230 and motoring up to war eagle marina. I trolled back here and there all the way past blue springs. Only one small striper on a fat free shad. saw a couple geese but the distance to the nearest house was questionable so I passed them up. Not the most productive trip but it was nice to get on the lake. I hadn't been out since the crappie spawn.
  10. Thank you feathers and fins. Are you still pretty much able to drift within range of the geese or does it take some kind of game plan. And for the walleye I was going to Troll some minnow raps I havnt tried yet. Any other suggestions on what they may take.
  11. I'm going to beaver lake tomorrow after work. I work in Lowell and the hickory creek ramp is the most convenient. I would like to troll for some walleye while scouting for ducks and maybe get a couple bonus geese. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  13. You could try Baileys Beaver Lake Guide Service. Never used them but they have a walleye report with the striper report.
  14. No we were up war eagle. I'm not real sure what was working them but on the way to our spot my buddy turned around and said that was the most shad he had ever seen. Mostly small ones under two inches but I seemed there were patches of shad in the 6 inch range. I don't guess stripers are gonna be up that far yet so maybe largemouth?
  15. Congratulations on your successful hunts. I still have a lot to learn about beaver between now and regular waterfowl season. Yesterday was my first hunt on beaver but not my last. We forgot The poles but had shad busting the surface all morning. It would have been nice to try for some topwater action after the slow wet morning.
  16. Anyone make it out today? I finally got time to go and only saw two small groups of teal get up and land back down where they were when a bass boat drove by. Not much flying where I was.
  17. Thanks again f&f. If I ever Get the time to make it out there I'll post my my luck.
  18. Does anyone ever have any success hunting early season in the afternoons?
  19. Does the Arkansas game and fish have a similar program with google maps? That would be very helpful
  20. Thanks for all the help f&f. I will scout after work this week and try my luck on the teal opener. What about decoys. The spreads I saw on the hollister area duck hunting threads were pretty big. I'm 21 and havnt been duck hunting long. So I don't have dozens of decoys and all the gear to go along with it. I'm buying what I can when I can. Which is hard to done when you fish and deer hunt also. Hobbies get expensive in a hurry. I'm sure you know this Better than I. I saw goldeneyes are a good decoy for ducks to see in open water. I've got mallards and woodies and plan on getting some teal this week. I know I need some honkers. Are there any other must haves for your spread
  21. Thank you that should be very helpful in getting a game plan together for regular waterfowl season. I live in fayetteville and will probably hunt the mid to upper sections of the lake mostly. I've read the war eagle arm has been productive for people in the past. Are your tactics any different down this way than they would be for the big water at the other end?
  22. The second post didn't load when I sent that. Thank you very much.
  23. Thanks for the link. Ive been on the agfcwebsite and was unable to find anything. I couldnt find any boating regulations on that link either. I am a new member to the forum but have been reading the threads for a long time. You guys are very informative and I was hoping someone would have some answers. Thanks Creede Feathers and fins Ive ready many of your post and know you are very informed in hunting and fishing beaver. I'm pretty new to duck hunting and I am just looking for a little help. Any tips would be appreciated
  24. When you're goose hunting do you set up or just look for them. I've seen how you set up for ducks on the holister area duck thread. And I've read the wonder bread bag trick. What are the rules for shooting from a boat does it have to be anchored? I havnt been able to find very detailed regulations for beaver lake waterfowl
