Just curious, but happens if it does not get colder and the lake does not turn over. OK, I am wathing the History channel right now, "Last Days on Earth" The number one threat is climate instability. The weather is getting to warm. The ice caps are melting and the waterlevels are rising. But right now it is way too warm for this time of the year. Have we ever had a year were Table Rock did not turnover? Would it be a problem? I assume lakes in the south do not turn.

One day down, one day to go. Thursday is almost here, and Thursday is go day. We are leaving early enough so we can get unpacked and hit Taney by 2PM. We don't care about the weather. Unless the Taney freezes we plan on getting wet.

SKMO I am not an expet by any means, but I believe that you can choose "maintain ratio" when you crop. Doing so in some programs resizes the pic so that it is the correct size for the print. Give it a try.

Yo Crappie I still fish for crappie. I have to. I use them as bait for the big catfish I go after.

Well Guys it's Chirstmas Eve. The kids are all home safe and sound. The shopping is done. Amazingly enough the packages are all wrapped. (First time in 25 years that has happened). In a few hours my entire family will bear down on my home and all of this peace and quiet will be gone. And it will be great. But for now, Robbie is baking like crazy, I have a fire in the fireplace, a hot cup of coffee and my dalmation is laying next to me. Life is good. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and tell you all how much I have enjoyed all of your company for the past 6 weeks. I still find it hard to believe that I ran across you guys because Kory told Phil about some guy that lost his wife on the river. I hope you all have a great holiday and I am looking foward to meeting many of you on New Years weeekend. If you see a Ford 500 on the lot with our OAF bumper sticker in the window, be sure to say hi. My prayers go out to all, especilly Dano, Terry and Phil and his faimly as they travel home. Merry Christmas LMW and LadyLMW -

In my natural fishing setting, (sitting on a lake all night), I hace a small Jon Deere tractor, that pulls a trailer, that carries a cooler, that contains at least a 6 pack of beer and a nice comfortable chair to sit in. I rigged the trailer with 4 rod holders. I can sit all night and fish. If I catch, cool,if not, oh well. But I have to say I rarely get skunked in this areana. Catfish and Carp are a little more my cup of tea. But we'll see.
-
Thanks MoCarp. I went to the link and read several of the articles. Are there sites in the US to get some of the terminal tackle? All of my searches turned up UK sites
-
You're right. Plus the fly casting motion of the arm, elbow and wrist are in total contradiction to those used to get a beer from the table to the mouth and successfully down the gullet. Why, that would be worse than a major leaguer playing slow pitch softball.

Yea Phill leaves the contry and the server crashes like the Hindenburg. Made for a real long day.

What time of year do the cats start biting in the smaller lakes. Also,I have always used a small Zebco 33 to fish for catfish. Now I see these posts where guys are talking about using these mondo open face spinning reels and 12 foot rods for both catfish and carp. I have one that I used to use to snag spoons at the Chain of ROcks in St Louis, but I never thought of using it for bait casting. What kinf a terminal tackle do you use. Whenever I use a catfish rig with te slip sinker, I have problems with mussels aking my bait. Same with Carp when I am fishing on the bottom. Anyone else have this problem. Any solutions. The lake I fish, (lake where I live), has adeep channel right off a point that goes ot to the main body of the lake. Usually get soe nice pan size channel cat hear, but the nussels are a pain. If I go into the cove I can catch yellow's all night, but they are all small. Any ideas?

"fish with crawlers for cats, corn hair rigged for carp" What does corn hair rigged for carp mean. I always use doughballs for carp.
-
All right Terry It is getting a bit dry in hear. Time to get back in the saddle again. Fire up the keyboard and lay waste to someone, (not me of course). Hope you are feeling better. LMW

Well, I put you on twice because you said you'd bring the chops. That deserves a double billing. Look that way. If the weather is good, there could be a nice gathering. No one has said anything about bringing beer. This will be the fist time I have been to a gathering with this many guys, let alone fisherman and not a beer in the bunch, not even a mention of alcohol of any kind. I know that bass fisherman occasionally have a cold one, and we catfisherman drink like the fish we catch. Are fly fisherman that different? LMW

Is that you Terry? Did you change your user name? I don't think I am having a "duh" moment here. I assumed that he was talking about soakingit in something that would absorb into the oats to attrack the fish. Zach, many lake owners place grass carp in the lake. Be sure that you talk to the owner about catching his grass carp. I live on a smallish lake in IL. We placed grass carp in the lake to eat the Brittle Niad grass that was taking over the lake. We put these "hawgs" in certain coves to clean them out. We had problems with various residents netting the grass carp and moving them to their cove to get rid of the grass. Bottom line is that we post articles in our paper to residents so that they do not harvest the grass carp. Just a thought. LMW
