  1. See what happens when we get complacent. We get to #5. Everyone says, OK, now I can fish! Then no one posts any fishing reprots, (except Leonard), and now we fall to number 6 I was so desperate for something to read I amost opened the "nude girl writes anything" post. Well, it is thirteen degrees here. The wind chill is about 7 below. It is Superbowl Sundy, and I wish I was fishing. Comeon guys. Pt away the fly rods and hit the keyboards. We have to get our priorities back on track. Post Post Post Post
  2. So can I assume that no one uses that combination anymore?
  3. Workin on it
  4. And now we know what really hurt Beeson's knee
  5. Rob and I have talked about it believe me. But until i get my 3 kids at least partially out of the budget, I am going to have to stay right here. LMW
  6. This is a great place for beginners. You will definetly get everything you need right here. You will also get things that you didn't need, but hey, that's the fun part. Enjoy LMW
  7. Acually it was more like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles"
  8. Good Morning OAF Russ sent me a PM last night asking where I had been. After reading the posts and trying to catch up, I realized I had missed a lot. The one thing I was happy to miss was that ice storm. Although it did allow me to stay home for a day or two, and I did get to post a bit. Well, after getting home from Taney on the first of January, Rob and I had to get caught up at work. For some reason no one does our work when we leave. That is an occupational hazard that I would like to find a cure for. That meant 10 to 13 hour days, 7 days a week for, well, the last 26 days or so. It also involved road trips to Lexington, Louisville, Lexington again, Nashville, Charlotte, Greenville and a few close in here in IL. But I am not bitter , not much anyway. None of them involved fishing. All of them involved me getting stuck without luggage, or short luggage, forgetting my dry cleaning on my way to Nashville, flying to the wrong state without a rental car waiting because a secretary was new, spending 5 days in Lexington with 2 days worth of clothes, finding I had no socks the morning of and RGT presentation, {check that, I did have the white socks that I wore on the plane. They looked great with my blue suit.), and way too many other stupid travel mishaps. If I could write like Terry, I could have posted my own "saga of travel", without any creative writing. But, enough of that. Things I am caught up on. Mr Ducky is catching fish and using flies that Mrs Ducky is tying. Leonard is off the hook on the calendars SW MO froze!. If that happened up here we would be talking about "hell freezing over" but you can't refer to SWMO as hell. Terry posted his own saga about the storm. Very good reading by the way. Phil went to Queeney. I was suppose to be there, but my boss came to town and changed my plans. We are going to get OAF hats! TRL has turned I missed a tournament at Lilley's Eagle Claw featherlight rods are a "hot topic" ??? And KFF is a Grandpa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats What else have I missed? I thought I read something about a big gathering in March that runs from Wednesday or Thursday to Sunday, but I can't find it now. What is the scoop? Are ther any othe events I need to know about coming up? I miss fishing. I need to find a job around Taney. LMW
  9. Ok Guys It just is not right for you guys to post all of this stuff on fishing when all I have been doing for the past 26 days is work. Rob and I were punished for taking off 3 days over the New Year. We have not had any time off at all. She says it is our punishment for taking time off. So now I am back for a few days. I can read and post, but I will not get caught upon a months worth of posts. I am curious. Mr Ducky is catching way too many fish. He is using his fly rod and flies that are home grown. I gotta move to Branson so I can get on the fast track. Were did you guys go, the hatchery ponds? Oh well, I have vented now. Great report Duck. Nice pics too. I just got a batch of Leonards minks in the mail from Phil. Gotta get down to try them. LMW
  10. What is the update on TRL? Has it turned?
  11. As a Rams fan I was ecstatic about the Pats losing the game. Not really a Bears fan, but I hate New Orleans. I do think the Bears got a lot of breaks form the zebras in the first half, and Rex is a poor excuse for a quarterback. If the Bears had a REAL QB they would be unbeatable. I agree, but I do have exceptions. They include any team from New York or New Orleans
  12. Congratulations Grandpa
  13. We saw that guy as well. He spent forever on the phone. Itr was very distracting. What made it worse was that he was catching a lot of fish. I don't listen to music when I fish, but I have found that a little John Denver, Rocky Mountain High, when I golf, slows down my swing and allows me to play without thinking. I shot my best round ever, a 79, with this song "stuck in my head"
  14. Resumes are not really the problem. Many of the kids today do not have the skills to fill out a job application. Some of the applications that we get today are written illegibly. We find that words are misspelled and directions are rarely followed. LMW
  15. Are you putting pictures on the forum?
  16. IE 7.0 has a few flaws. It has a conflict with Google and Yahoo. I had to unload them because they were freezing up my PC
  17. No, now that I don't have 3 kids to feed, I can afford to feed a larger dog. Thanks for the info on Springers. My boss raises Springer show dogs. Lots of Champion breeder stock. They are very careful about the line. My wife fell in love with one of his dogs. I had thought about going to him. But, they are from champion stock and they get a price that is a bit frightening. LMW
  18. Bailey is a meium size dalmation. She is a bit on the heavy side since we had her spayed. That won't happen again. Larger is not a problem. Now that two of my three children have moved out the dog can ea better. What do you think about Springers?
  19. Jon You are right. My wife was the one that likes the chocolate, hmmmm, how many wives don't like chocolate? If you had to choose for someone, and it had nothing to do with hunting and all about companionship, what would you suggest? BTW We had a black lab. She came from a good breeder in Missouri. She was a great dog, but she was a problem child. LMW
  20. jon I looked at your site. How often do you have pups? Is there a waiting list? How long is it? My wife is thinking that a Chocolate Lab is in our future some day in the next year or so. We have a dalmation right now. Bailey is getting on in years and Rob is a dog person. I don't think she could be wthout one. Sometimes I think she would rather have the dog around instead of me. We are not hunters. We look for dogs that are good companions and that can be easily trained. We do live on a lake, so a "water dog" will be in hog heaven. Just curious. Not ready to buy. Bailey probably would not like a new puppy in the house. LMW
  21. Jon Welcome to the site. Dog lovers are always a pleasant addition. Gives us someone to call when Terry gets out of line. LMW
  22. This has been a very strange week for storms. Dano is clean, Springfield is a disaster area. St Charles is covered in ice and we are simply wet. We live just north of St Louis and southwest from St Charles, I think. All of the ice seemed to have swept up I 44 from Springfield and then north above St Louis. It just dumped huge amounts of rain on us. We lived through the ice the last two times. I am thankful that we were missed this time. For those of you that got hit hard, be careful, stay safe. I drove to Nashville tonight. On my way here I passed two convoys of ameren trucks heading towards St Louis. Each convoy had about 15 lift bucket trucks. I hope they are headed for someof you. Our prayers go out to all. LMW
  23. All we got was rain. And we got lots of rain. Our lake came up over 2 feet in the last 4 days. We are 12 inches below full pool and 2 inches above the no wake line. For the first time in 14 months, our lake is above the no wake line and is open to boating. Now if I can just get the lift guy to raise the legs so I can get to my boat. I wonder if he has a heated wetsuit?
  24. Freeze line stayed north of the St Louis area for the most part. I have icy trees and a thin glaze on my deck. Weather guys still calling for the end of civilization. I think they get more out of their doomsday weather forecasts than they get from sex. That's why they only show them from the waist up. Bottomline is that we are 33 degrees. We had a lot of rain and a little ice. LMW
