  1. Welcome to the board SirChristopherAlanGreenEsquire, man that's a mouthful. You might want to get use to SCAGE, cause that's probably what you will see most of the time. There's a lot of great stuff here. Any kind of fishing you want, just about any information you need. I somewhere does not have, they can find it. Sit back and enjoy. Don't be shy. Welcome LMW
  2. That's in my backyard. I have the where, although Queeny is a big park. What about the day and time? Are we talking about the 6th and 7th or the 13th and 14th? LMW
  3. KFF Sorry we missed you on NYD. Rob and I where gone by 2. Great post. One question. "Is it ever possible for a man to walk into a fly shop and NOT find that one item he can't live without?"
  4. Was I the only one finding it hard to keep names with handles with faces?
  5. Yo Ducky Check at the desk at the hatchery. They have a slot ruler for that area. That may be what you saw.
  6. Dano It deos not say anythinh about the action. It says "High Line Speed" He's asking around $200
  7. The photo gallery on that site is amazing.
  8. I have a line on a G Loomis Streamdance Metolius 9' #4 4pc Fly Rod rod with case. What is a good price for a used rod in like new condition? When would you use a 4 wt rod, if ever?
  9. Does anyone have a total on how many and who made it down. Seems we missed a few that day. What about additional pictures? Looking back the name tags would have been a good idea. Had a hard time keeping up with some of the names and handles. Maybe we could add names to the pics we already have posted on the site?
  10. "Synthetic eggs and soft plastic lures are specifically prohibited. " Phil Is there a difference between synthetic eggs and the egg flies that I se in shops or are they one in the same?
  11. I found the korker site. Heading to the oher right now. The other site was not a good endorsement, but very educational. I may be investing in a second pair of boots though.
  12. Our boots both have all felt soles, no cleats or screws. We use wading staffs, which have kept me from taking the plunge more that a few times. My ortho surgeon said that it would not be a good thing to pop out my fake hip in a river, so the staffs make hime happy, (me too). I brought this up as a result of a conversation at the NYD gathering. One of the guys there commented about his dislike of felt soles. He talked aout the spikes and gripper soles. Not sure what that was, but I have found that my felt does slide a bit. If I send them back to Orvis, can they add soemthing for grip tht will not void the warranty on the boots? Rob has felt as well. She wears Simms boots.
  13. You are probably right. I purchased the gear 4 years ago. It sat unused in my garage until Novmber of this year. I do not have the paperwork so I tried the site method. I will call the shop and see what they say. All the reading I have been doing has me questioning almost everything. Does fly line have to be replaced like regular fishing line. I put new line on my other reels every year. Thanks LMW
  14. I may be wrong, but it seems that a well weighted zonker would be a great fly to use on crappie? Rob and I are going to do a little fly fishing on a small lake in our community. The crappie are so thick that we had to remove limits. The problem is that right now they are deep. I am not fan of big box fly shops. And for now, I do not tie my own. Who around Taney ties a good zonker? What colors and size should I look for? The article you sent the link for was great. LMW
  15. Ducky As a fellow newbie to this I too would like to see that living room of yours. I chose to practice in my back yard. It is not as exciting as threading a fly thru the light and over the TV, but it is a lot cheaper than replacing fixtures. Speaking from experience, Terry is right. Either get another job, give up eating, (obviously not MY first choice), or learn to live on eBay. Suggestion 2, no matter what, stay out of the Fly Shops. They are like heroin. You walk in to buy a fly or two and several hundred dollars later you are scratching something saying "what happened?" Enjoy LMW
  16. Welcome Aboard don't be shy. Ask questions, read and enjoy the site.
  17. Russ What is a Zonker? Do you have any pics? Is it a dry or a wet fly? If wet is it weighted? Do you fish it under and indicator? I have seen the name on other posts and just have not had a chance to ask. LMW
  18. I thought that was why Missouri passed the conceal and carry law.
  19. Thanks Terry I will check out the link. The so much to learn part is "for real", but that is the beauty of a hobby. That distraction from work that allows you to learn and calm the mind at the same time. Gotta love it LMW
  20. Thanks Greg I am all about making it easier. We have Orvis Battenkill III large arbor reels. Should we buy new spools and load them or just dump the line that we have and start over? When would we use the level taper?
  21. When we bought our boots we tried them on with the waders. My Orvis boots are three sizes larger than my shoes. Robbie went 2 sizes in her Simms, but she failed to take in to consideration the layers of socks she had to wear when we bought the boots, so she had to go another size up as well. Bottom line is to try them on with the same level of layers as you are going to fish in. That will save you in the long run. You'd think big feet would equal stability, WRONGGGGG My 14's slip and slide like Robs 9's What type of soles do you all suggest for Taney?
  22. The line is the same taper front to back.
  23. BTW = By The Way LMW
  24. Shawncat If you plan on posting pics a lot, I suggest you use one of the online sites like photobucket. I had problems with loading large pics when I got inot the forum. Now I load the pics online and eithe link the url or attach the img. Either way it is faster and the pics are larger. You are also not as restricted on pic size. BTW, nice looking dog. LMW
