  1. Thanks for the reply. I was unsure of the population/specie of trout down that far.
  2. If I run down/ sight see to Rockaway Beach area, what kind of fish can I expect to catch?
  3. Do you guys know of any marina below 65 bridge that sell gasolne?----Thanks Ben
  4. Hi Guys!!----Is there a marina on Taneycomo below the 65 bridge that sell fuel?------Thannks--Ben
  5. I usually start with the horsehead with willow leaf using a Bobby Garland 2" swimming minnow usually in the blue thunder color. Babler turned me on to the swimming minnow three years ago talking about using it on the mud flats in the Cricket Creek area of Long Creek for crappie. After finding out this dude caught bass, I fish it in depths with success allowing the depth of the fish to determine the weight of the horsehead.
  6. I reckon a lot of you guys are spending these frigid days making jigs, weiights, spinner baits, and possibly an alabama rig or two. For those of you in and around the Nixa area, Nixa Haradware has the cheapest and has less impurities in it that I have found elsewhere. The price isn't bad either at $14 for a 5 lb bar which is much cheaper that can be had from BP and other tackle providers i am aware of. Speaking of tackle companies, there is one located in Richardson, Texas, (just north of Dallas), that I have been dealing with for over 20 years, and have never had a problem. If you tackle builders aren't aware of Barlows Tackle you might visit their web site. Good prices and quality merchandise.,
  7. I live in Ozark, Mo. and received one of the notices. I purchased my permits on line, so maybe this explians why I received one. I am happy to know others received them too. I had no idea why I would receive this notice until this appeared on the forum.
  8. Man does that bring back soome memories. Rayo's wife and I taught school together in Green Coounty Arkansas in the 1960"s. Rayo was always quite a fisherman and hunter. Before he won the Bassmaster in 1974 he had to divide his time between farming and fishing. I had the opportunity to fish with Rayo before and after he won the Bassmasters. I think he did more to promote fishing in Arkansas than he was ever given credit for. One of my fondest memories of Rayo and is wiife was floating the Eleven Point River in Arkansas with my wife and I fishing for smallmouth. I do know for a fact the he became more and more upset about some of the questionable antics used to acquirie fish to bring to the weigh ins, You guys are correct he had that certian talent necessary to read fish and conditions during all times of the year.
  9. Barlow's Tackle Shop in Richardson, Texas has heat guards that slip over the weed guard when you heat them up for powder paint. They are less than five bucks. Barlows has on line site and are good folks to do business with. I have been ordering items from them since 1974, and have always been satisfied with their service. They sell all sorts of lure building supplies and are a lot cheaper than the box stores and local tackle shops. They used to be one of the few full service rod and tackle supply stores available. They quit selling rod blanks a few years ago, but still have the components.
  10. So far they have been pretty spotty and deep on the fallen timber at the mouth of the coves.
  11. The Marina at Cricket Creek usually has them. I think they get delivery on Mondays. You might call ahead and check with them.----870-426-3474
  12. For you crappie fishermen, Cricket Creek ramp at the marina is open as well as the marina. Only campground is closed. Gates are open. No probllem.
  13. Thanks for all the replys!! You have helped a bunch.--------Ben
  14. Man, I got caught in rain storm and left my boat at the marina uncovered for a week. What a mess I saw today. What do you guys use to clean the crud off your vinyl seats? Any thoughts, revelations, or visions are most appreciated!------Thanks Ben
  15. I have been trying to locate a source for spence scouts. I have read where Strike King now makes them, however, I have been unable to find them listed for sale at any of the usual tackle stores. Is there now a hard bait that is comparable in depth of run and action of the old spence scout? I am sure there are a lot of old timers out there who remember the "pink eyed white scout". Thanks--Ben
