  1. Wow. Wish you guys the best. Although I'm sure the fish take the opposite view.
  2. Beautifully done, 2 in a boat! I'm a writer by trade, and I truly enjoyed what you had to say and how you said it. Sounds like a fine life ahead. Walleyes on the Rock aren't the easiest, but once they set up in their summer patterns, you can usually count on catching some if you try. Check out Babler's posts from last summer—excellent info, even though it was an exceptionally hot season. The eyes set up out on those edges every year...you just have to determine the best depth to fish 'em--often where the top of the thermocline meets an irregular contour. Meanwhile, please do eat some bass. There's way too many of 'em out there. They taste wonderful.
  3. Lighten up, Wal. You might think about putting your issue in its own thread so the "true fisherpeople" can find and discuss it properly. Otherwise, it's open season in the funny club!
  4. 9LB, I agree with you. They should close the season on walleyes from 2/15 to 4/14.
  5. Hear, hear! Eyeman for president!!! Bass are also great under tomatoes... Walcrabass, you want bigger bass? Stop releasing them all! They're panfish, for cri-yi.
  6. "Threw a Rage Tail Lobster at a dock, felt a bite, set the hook and hooked into something that felt like a water logged stick. Felt a little movement, and I thought maybe it's an old T-shirt that's been sitting on the bottom. Got it up to the boat and saw that it was a walleye. 19" fish, but I was merciful and released it." QB, you cradle-robber, don't make me re-post that. Congrats on releasing an obviously valuable fish (unlike the target species).
  7. We both caught our first "on purpose" Table Rock walleyes out of that little Bass Tracker in the photo above. It was a weekday in June, hot and sunny, and--giddy as little kids--we set out on a fine day-long adventure. Traveled by boat from Cow Creek to the Devil's Backbone near Big M, about 34 miles each way. A friend had tipped us off that the eyes were biting there, so we tried trolling cranks along the spine. On just about every pass, we'd either snag a tree or catch a walleye, and we laughed and had a great old time together. We enjoyed many more days on the water after that, learned about braid and leadcore and how to tie crawler harnesses, fished tournaments, picked mushrooms... There was a lotta life in that guy. He was one of the good ones.
  8. Marty Ford, screen name Martin on this board, passed away this morning at the ripe old age of 62. I don't think anyone could have loved Table Rock Lake (and its mysterious walleyes) any more than he did. Those who traded posts with him will surely remember him as a pleasant, knowledgeable guy with a great sense of humor. Gonna miss that goof. So long, old friend.
  9. A lot of the big females are still deep and still green. We caught a bunch near bottom in 30-40 feet the other day. Middle of the coves. No shorts down there.
  10. Evidently not!
  11. Oh. Last sentence finally gave it away. You're talking about bass. Meh.
  12. I remember watching the Pack win the first two Super Bowls. Never missed a game on TV, except when I was in the service, or actually attending games. Geesh, they were lousy for a quarter century. Kinda like the Bears now. I hail from the Lake Geneva area. 9LB, I can point you toward some spots on TR when you're ready.
  13. I'm usually wearing a Packer hat of some sort on the water. If you see me, stop and say hi!! For the most part, around here, the only ones who actually fish for walleyes are the ones who talk funny (the northern transplants).
  14. Good for you, Eagle! Thanks for the report, and welcome. Probably gotta get off the contours and out into open water if you wanna troll up some crappies. But that'll change shortly....
  15. This ex-Wisconsinite agrees that it's hard to get excited about Stockton sometimes...but where you were catching smallies last week, you were within sight of some good walleye spots. And TR has a shot at giving up a 20+. Pounds, not inches.
  16. 9LB, go sit in the corner for awhile. You appear to be going over to the dark side...
  17. Yes, you have it right...long cove on the east side of Big Sac, halfway between Point B-8 and the Hwy Y bridge, with a campground/marina/ramp/no wake zone on the south side and a (no fee) ramp on the north side.
  18. Hey MWG, looks like you caught one of those "humpbacked" eyes. I caught 3 of those in Stockton last year, and one in Table Rock the year before. Must be a genetic deformity...but they eat just fine.
  19. The man knows socks, and where to put 'em.
  20. Well, I agree that many companies, BPS included, don't invest enough in their front-line employees to ensure a positive customer experience every time. In fact, they fall far short. Whether it's a sales floor position or a rep working in a call center, you'd think it'd be worth giving those people the training AND financial incentive to do great work for the company and their valuable customers. Unfortunately, most companies consider these to be bottom-rung positions...and it shows. Brother, does it show.
  21. For anyone who's wondering...this was a tongue-in-cheek listing of a walleye fisherman's gripes about bass fishermen. The point of view turned out to be a little on the edgy side, though, so after getting some feedback I dusted it. Sorry for any confusion.
  22. I hear Stockton's on fire for walleyes right now, and they're biting better on the bluffs than the points. Wish I could get out there, but I'm stuck at home for awhile. It's cool (to me) that you released your eyes while fishing competitively for other game. Just seems like the right thing to do. I pull cranks a lot. Funny, since I started targeting walleyes I've probably caught my 25 largest bass ever. And released them all, I think.
  23. Absolutely. Stockton, Bull, and Table Rock, all three.
  24. No big deal, L2. I realize now that I could've toned down the wording a bit. All in good fun--rock on!
  25. Yes, I guess if the humor isn't immediately discernible, then it's best to not go on. Thanks, Chief.
