  1. In the past I have run the electric motor barely moving and kind of bounce the jigs. Works well when you find the walleyes. Normally I BB till I find a pod then use jigs. But for Beaver you have to cover ground to find them jig fishing is to slow unless you find them. But it's my favorite way to fish walleyes because of light tackle
  2. I have only fished Beaver for 7 years but have put on 2350 miles when going over 3.5 mph since apr 2010 when I got my first HDS 8. I probably have fished every point from hickory to the dam to include secondary points. It's not always on the point but up bank on either side. Everything what F&F said. The key is catching the first one and remember the depth, speed, was it the inside rod on a turn or outside. I do not use my finders first I normally just stop and fish and if no bites or clutter on the screen I move. My friend (who I lost recently) and I decided that walleyes in beaver are hear today but someplace else the next. Just keep searching. In the past it was not unusual for us to have our limits by noon. Since August of last year I have had to work harder for them, but I don't why. Couple years ago I would start at PC and by the time I reached Copper-mine I had a limit. Another thing I do is when I catch one or two and no more bites, leave the spot and go back to it later after it settles down. I always do it if I get caught in the brush piles I'm fishing. Hope this helps.
  3. I only fish for walleye. Maybe because a northern boy. Points next to deep water.
  4. Thanks for comments. I also caught 9 catfish up to 8 # by my scale. First time this year for so many. I never fish for them so is this a good time of the year for catfish? They just leave slim on my line but give a good fight. I do not know how to clean them I guess, they do not taste good as the catfish houses.
  5. Finally a short morning and finished by 11:00. Caught 7 walleyed with 4 keepers. One 18, one 19 and two 21. All caught on BB with gold spinners at .8 to1.2 mph. 30 feet of water.
  6. I use lowrance and the down scan and side scan have to be outside. I would think the side scan would not work or would have a lot of interference mounted in the hull.
  7. Launched my boat prior to J-Doc this morning. 6 hours of BB produced 3 keeper walleye in the rocky branch area. Long day. Have to keep moving to find them. 26 to 30 ft
  8. 80% of the time I fish the crawler harness. I use 8/30 power pro main line with 14 # fluorocarbon harness line. 11/2 to 2 oz bottom bouncers. Except for dirty high water I only use copper, gold and silver blades. I use two hooks for crawlers and gulp worms, a slow death hook for gulp minnows. I might go faster than some .8 to 1.2 mph. Sometimes faster when the water warms up. I have found a 3 1/2 foot leader fits me fine. Last few years here I always use floats. I agree with RPS on trolling crank baits. I used to fish tournaments and when I had my limit I would troll large plugs for the kicker fish. For walleye my favorite way is jigs, next BB, then long line trolling and last lead line. I know,I'm weird, but I only fish for walleye here, except I do fly fish for trout in the winter. Beaver, tablerock and bull shoals have been kind to me. One thing I use is flipping reels. Since I fish holding two rods all the time. Left hand crank for the right hand and a right crank for left hand. That way I can use my knees to get line in if it gets shallow. Have fun as the fishing is great here for walleye.
  9. I also caught a bunch of walleyes today in one small area on BB in 20 to 22 feet of water. I had a bite or two every pass. They would only hang on to the crawler. Went to half or third of crawler and started to hook them. Good day
  10. I have a MT-15 for sale with ant. , power cable and southern card just missing transducer. $150.00 I also have LCX 27 with southern card, no ant. but with transducer and power cord.. $350.00 all work perfect if close to rogers , AR I will place them on my boat. Upgraded to 3 HDS.
  11. I think it is tougher the last couple of years. Since July last year it has been tougher. My friend and I fished for 5 years every Tuesday and Thursday and would have our limits even though we would not keep anything over 23". This was from April to October / November depending on wx. Some times we would catch over 30 walleyes, but that's all we fished for. I've never posted this before because he though to many people used the site we would only post on the mid-south walleye site. As he passed on this last year I guess I can post.
  12. Wolfs on hwy 12 now has carpet replacement in the rear of their shop as well as fiberglass repair.
  13. Best way to grill walleye is to fillet it, but leave the skin on and grill skin down.
  14. Walleye Centrol has one fairly new, but LSS2 with box for $175 good deal. It's in the boat classifieds.
