  1. It would be difficult to blow a dam like TR from the base. I would imagine that the terrorist know that they will be lucky to get one shot at any type of target, so I'm sure they would want something with more overall value than TR. They're very protective of Hoover, but theres a lot of population below it and much of southern California depends on the power. I don't know how much Powersite would raise BS if it were breeched, but I doubt it would be much over a foot by the time it was through. It only produces 1% of Empire's output, so that wouldn't be much of a loss. It wouldn't even be good practice.
  2. Construction is expensive here, no doubt. Its not cheap to flatten hills and fill hollows.
  3. Swan was up a little Friday, but not high. The USGS says that Beaver is a little below the median.
  4. Thats an old rumor, and apparently will never die. Personally I think its just that, an old baseless rumor. I don't think this area has the economic clout, location, or population to attract someone like Disney.
  5. My Walnuts and Oaks are starting to bud again, but not the Sycamores or Chinquapin.
  6. What lake were you fishing SM?
  7. It might irritate some BASS members, many of their early tournaments are scheduled to take advantage of the spawn. Its always nice to hear that so and so is the favorite because of his prowess in bed fishing.
  8. I saw a nice string from the area today, it came from the bank and looked to be 2 different years spawn. There has been a fair amount of boat traffic, but not too bad.
  9. I haven't fished that way in decades, but when we did we used Marabou jigs and lip hooked the minnows. I do remember that the Crappie were fussy about jig color and minnow size. Red and White jigs with "Crappie size minnows" was best, but not sure fire..
  10. Brian there are so many outfitters there now I would think someone would put you in at Windyville. I know someone at Plad, but I don't know if I have the number handy, I'll look.
  11. If you're talking about Okiebug's I don't.
  12. Where did you take out? How was the water level?
  13. That is a surprise, not absolutely sure where you were, but by the description it sounds like a largemouth area. I've never caught any big ones there, but I've heard of some by reliable sources.
  14. Give your wife our best, and we'll be thinking of you if you can't make it.
  15. I haven't seen Brownie respond, I'll e-mail him, he may have missed the thread.
  16. crappiefisherman if I'm not mistaken, the old Missouri record came from the upper area. The new one, or at least that I've heard of came from TR.
  17. You might consider putting the agent(s) phone number in your cell or your billfold. I have Taney county's and while I haven't used them, I will if the need arises.
  18. Well?
  19. I was told by the cell phone company that after market chargers, especially car chargers would ruin a battery prematurely, but that the OEM's wouldn't. Some batteries can develope a memory and to get rid of it, leaving a draw on it until it shuts down and then charging it again repeated 2-3 times will work, if it works at all.
  20. Funny, but I had some discussion about wolves with my RV neighbor this winter. He didn't seem to worry much about them, except if they chased the Moose off just before hunting season. I might add that he has lived with them his entire 72 years. I suppose if worrying about wolves is a problem then watching the nightly news should bring one back to the real dangers.
  21. russ its not the tent, but the brand, Eureka, and the other standards like aluminum poles. The other point was that you can often save a lot of money through Sierra, but they are a closeout facilitiy. Campmor often has some very good deals on tents also and they do carry Eureka's, just not always on sale. I've used a backpacker Timberlite on the river for a long time, and I can still replace a pole if needed. The Eureka Timberline is ageless, but not for everyone.
  22. I believe an outfitter on the North Fork would be your best bet. I would imagine that some would also serve the Bryant with that many people.
  23. I guess I never noticed, probably because my elbows are close to the water when I'm standing. Tracking is a double edged sword, my 12' Tarpon tracks well, but doesn't maneuver, my 10' Pamlico maneuvers, but doesn't track. My Mohawk Solo canoe maneuvers better than either, but has no tracking ability in its hull.
  24. We have tent camped for decades, and I have to agree with Gavin's post 100%.
  25. I've owned a western style drift boat and used it western rivers. You can row against a pretty stiff current, if the load isn't excessive, but it is strenuous and not possible except for short sprints.
