  1. I don't know what the water looks like at this time, haven't driven up there in a while. At the present level there is some wadable water. I heard they did OK on Browns this summer when the water was up. Hard baits at night were the ticket apparently.
  2. Don't think so GF, I believe its to guard against something similar to what Holden pulled when he withheld money from the schools. It does say provided or eligible to be provided, I.E. earmarked money.
  3. FB, I don't know how we can hope to enjoy the flows in this state, or to recruit people who will be willing to protect them, if we can't maintain free access. Yes, I fish a lot and 100% of it requires public access, and alot of my fishing is on flows, in fact probably 75% is on flows.
  4. I assume this is the section they are quoting. 5. To ensure that no governmental body or official arbitrarily restricts funds designated for purposes other than stem cell research or stem cell therapies and cures as a means of inhibiting lawful stem cell research or stem cell therapies and cures, no state or local governmental body or official shall eliminate, reduce, deny, or withhold any public funds provided or eligible to be provided to a person that (i) lawfully conducts stem cell research or provides stem cell therapies and cures, allows for such research or therapies and cures to be conducted or provided on its premises, or is otherwise associated with such research or therapies and cures, but (ii) receives or is eligible to receive such public funds for purposes other than such stem cell-related activities, on account of, or otherwise for the purpose of creating disincentives for any person to engage in or otherwise associate with, or preventing, restricting, obstructing, or discouraging, such stem cell-related activities. Again, I don't read it that way.
  5. Wifes going to be home this weekend, so the collar and leash will be on.
  6. Well I'm at a big disadvantage here because I've never heard of a case like this? Government grants for research are generally given to schools and non profit institutes. Any successes are shared with any and all commercial organizations, at least thats the only thing I can come up with. With that in mind it would seem that going that route would kick in the competative aspect of marketing 17 years early. Are we being ripped of by all the great advances from the research money invested in the space program? Many of them involved health.
  7. Ron, I have read it, and while I'll admit I might have missed something, I'm still seeing that cloning is allowed, but not the cloning of a human being. I've been treated for cancer twice, and both times some companies made some money, but it was my only option because there is no government controlled health care, and I'm thankfully for that. I'm glad that some companies were willing to make the investments to take medical technology to new levels. My mother has had cancer twice, and she's 90 and its in spite of the government, not because of them, its because companies invested money to offer something some people would not want to be without. I have no doubt that if stem cell research succeeds, a great many people will ether have a better life, or a longer fuller life, and I have no doubt that there will be some profits made. I can take some comfort though in the fact that a lot of this profit will find its way into peoples retirements and other beneficial endeavors. I don't see the argument that because some company will make money, good health is is a tainted product.
  8. If thats true then there doesn't seem to be a finacial conflict. American Century Investments is a mutual fund company.
  9. Soros isn't in the drug business, while I don't have much respect for him or his meddling in US politics, I doubt that he is involved in this one. Sounds like an attempt to turn conservatives who support the research.
  10. Yeah we let him come up here and fish, just wish he'd behave himself.
  11. I had to guess on the time however, but I know it was day because when I'd tell my mamma "I was born at night, but not last night" she would tell me "you weren't even born at night".
  12. Bobber's an Arkie Dan.
  13. Well shoot, I think I just overloaded it!
  14. I agree in principle, but given the fact that Blastocyst stem cells in themselves aren't life, then are they any different then the egg and sperm? Or are they precursors? My analogy with guns was an attempt to point out that while the bill allows human cloning, it doesn't allow cloning a human being. In Roe vs Wade the Supreme Court wrestled with the beginning of life, even reaching back to the Greek civilization looking for answers. This isn't meant as an endorsement of R vs W, but I simply pointing out that the exact moment that life as we see it, is fleeting.
  15. They certainly can Riverrunner, but they do come with directions in English. I've used them for about 35 years and never had a problem, but you have to use them right. You pump until you see movement in the piston, and no more, and not very often. Even with the BB its a good idea to clean and pack once a year.
  16. No, just send the ducks!
  17. The cloning issue in the amendment is no different then gun laws, they can use cloning to produce stem cells, but not a human being, the same as the law that allows you to buy buy and fire a gun, but not to comment murder with it. I have to ask, Jesus allowed the blind to see and the cripple to walk, was he taunting us with his ability, or encouraging man to higher goals?
  18. The job of Bearing Buddy's is to keep pressure on the grease, which keeps the air out and avoids contraction of the air pulling in water. The side effect is that if they are kept full they will reveal seal failure and keep out any foreign material. I wouldn't want to be without some protection based on the principle of Bearing Buddy's
  19. What about the point when stem cells become cells to produce the necessary organs for human life? We have to assume that each egg and sperm is unique, otherwise wouldn't the offspring be clones? The argument seems to keep returning to cloning, which is pretty much universally rejected, but both sides makes references without hard facts to support their charges, or so it seems.
  20. You hid them in the closet, what were you thinking? You're suppose to hide them behind your tools!
  21. Paddles??? Oars??? Get a pontoon and put a Minn Kota on it. It will also fit in a variety of vehicles, without it hanging over or buying racks. If the ponds is some distance from parking, you carry the pontoon in pieces. Small water, can't beat an Outcast.
  22. It just chaffs me that people on either side of the border would have, and have, so little regard for the regulations and it has to speak negatively for the agencies with responsibility, on both sides of the border.
  23. Mustad also makes a live bait hook, and they are cheaper then the Gammy's. They can use a swipe or two from a stone though. Sounds like you have a place to have some fun Flem.
  24. Can't this time, but I would like to get one more in.
  25. Crappie it sounds like they had access to the lake, with Whites there, but Finley is a long way from stillwater. I assume it was below Bear to have deep water and thats not far from the lake.
