  1. Sorry Steve but that hasn't been my experience in the few times during the regular season I've fished. But I do agree that 7 day C&R would be a positive move overall and not necessarily a drain on personnel.
  2. I don't think they need to outlaw shuffling, just make it illegal to fish within 6' or the length of you fishing rod when standing in the water.
  3. The fishing must have been great, I mean maybe the guy did have reason to stay, if only he and Brian were there fishing?
  4. And fortunatly while the MDC was coming after the guy who ignored the horn, no one needed them in a real life or death situation, I assume.
  5. ROL has a piece on it. Link= Devils Backbone I believe there's a NFS campground on the edge of it.
  6. Thats a good thing, in about 10 years they'll be big enough to take a picture of, if they survive.
  7. I can't speak from experience, but I've heard that the trip into the Eleven Point is a good one, and the wilderness on the North Fork, you might look into those.
  8. Thats a surprise. I've always heard that they had no success in stocking them in rivers, so they quit.
  9. Like Al said its not just the Spring, or Arkansas rivers. I've watched the Niangua here in Missouri suffer the same fate. I think much of it could be solved by rolling back the clock. The DNR here could simply have outfitters fall back to their records of about 25 years ago, and then give everyone 5 years to get back to those numbers, new outfitters would have to do something else after that time.
  10. A guess would be that it will put them off. I would think they will have to readjust after enjoying warmer waters most of the Summer.
  11. It wasn't available Ham, the forum started up In...January?, I believe. Of course Ozark Angler has been around awhile.
  12. Hey Ham, glad to see you made it up here.
  13. The only reason I could see not too, would be enforcement. There is a problem in that area, but with hatchery people available to report a violation to, I would think the benefits would out weigh the losses. When the Winter fishing first started you had to buy a daily permit and that required personnel, now they aren't required.
  14. Yeah, It should be pointed out that when I was there you could stand at the confluence of Dry Hollow. where the C&R wading starts, and look one direction and see a lot of people, look the other and see no one.
  15. How many trout to raise is an educated guess for the hatcheries, so like us, they will underestimate.
  16. Here's another theory, the warm waters have accelerated the insect population, providing more food for fewer Trout. This would certainly make them harder to catch, and of course they would'nt necessarily be as active on the surface, or at least I wouldn't think they would.
  17. Sorry Bill, the written word is one more thing I'm not skilled at, but Crappie pretty well summed it up. I would imagine that the Trout were stacking up where they found the cooler water and when the generation spread lower temps over most of the lake, they moved to more desirable areas. I would think a flush of cold water and some current would have them stacked in new locations.
  18. My question is whether we know how urgent Gloabal Warming might be, is it more urgent then the prescription drugs and other chemicals that we, our children and grandchildren ingest now? Our are priorities the same as those who preach our demise at the hands of Global Warming?
  19. I think the long period without generation raised the temps to uacceptable levels in many areas of the lake, when the temps dropped over a wide range the fish scattered and moved back to these areas.
  20. jOrOb, a limit on commercial rentals would actually make it easier for people to enjoy the outdoors. While I would be quick to agree that people who rent aren't a problem, but to many, which includes too many who come to drink and party, spoil it for most.
  21. I was there Sun-Wed. The river is lower than I've seen, but I'm not a constant visitor in the Summer. There's a lot of pressure and almost all the Trout can be seen, and see. It did rain heavily on Monday, hard on Tues and more that night without any real runoff, so most went into the aquifer and I would imagine that much of it will come out of the springs.
  22. I haven't caught any above 44, but that still doesn't mean much because I just don't get over there like I did in years past. I think the big unanswered question is whether their expansion is part of a cycle, or a permanent change. Kentucky/Spots are native, so it has to be an environmental change. I have a feeling that a lot of it is the fact that the rivers are becoming more shallow and consequently warmer.
  23. RR, did you catch any hybrids?
  24. John was that the State Team Tournament put on by BASS?
