  1. May be, but you have a lot of company. That seems to be a problem at times. I've complained the last two years that Bennett Spring has no sign informing people that the Smallies that enter the branch in winter are C&R. I'm told that its a good idea and that they will pass it on, to file 13 I guess. I wish more people, even those who don't normally fish streams, would start making more noise about protecting our native stream fighter. There is no reason to keep a stream Smallie, considering the plight of both them and the streams they live in. Of course there is always the possibility that should they disappear, there will be less reason to protect the streams and keep them open for all the people, and I know this will please some
  2. A buzzbait would compliment your Sneaky Pete's and some natural colored grubs should produce at that time of year.
  3. truth is, Taney is a riverine lake and that applies to the whole lake, and the fishermen all along its length.
  4. There are a couple of good floats below Hazelgreen. The put-ins and takeouts aren't canoe trailer friendly.
  5. !!!!!!!!! Thats has to be a loooong day.8-9 miles seems long to me.
  6. We put in at Hull, and its farther than listed, trust me. It is nice water, but not without hazards, nothing dangerous, but there is no place for someone inexperienced, such as a youngster paddling alone, on it. We just found the fishing slow this weekend, on the Fork and the G'nade. One of out party did well on the G'nade Friday fishing north of I-44.
  7. I thought there was listing for Taney on here, The Hatchery area, MDC's Cooper Creek, Rockaway Beach, and Empire Electric at Ozark Beach are all public ramps.
  8. I fished it Saturday with another canoe down to Hazelgreen. Its in excellent shape, but be sure your paddling skills are up to date. We did fair, with a 15" the largest. It wasn't any slower than the G'nade however. You can put in at Orla on the north side of the bridge, but I haven't gone upstream, it just doesn't seem worth the hassle with so much more stream lightly fished. I have heard, not experienced, that they hassle you if you're discovered. I have also heard that if you approach them they will give you permission to float through. What I've "heard" isn't verified by me however. The stretch from Orla to B is long, but I think its lightly fished for that reason.
  9. Lead mine is the next good access from Prosperine/Mountain Fork, but the shuttle is loooong. There is access at Berry Bluff CA at the end of E or EE, I can't remember either. You would have to scout the possibility because I don't think the road goes to water.
  10. No but the Missouri Atlas & Gazetteer does a good job
  11. A hint, I carry those numbers in the envelope I carry my license in.
  12. Yes, fished it Friday, north of I-44. It was fair, but it seemed hard to establish a pattern. The water is slightly off color.
  13. I think as outdoorsman, we should always oppose the legislature getting involved. While I don't always agree with the MDC, and it irritates me when they fail to follow up when they indicate they will do something, they are approachable, and if enough complain, they will come to us.
  14. Low water means fewer canoes. I've been on it in pretty low water and if you don't mind dragging, the fishing can be good.
  15. You might check this site. http://www.missouricanoe.org/memberframe.html
  16. Aeronikl the State Park is close for RVers. You can check here for reservations if you're interested. Missouri State Parks
  17. Its a sad fact that its happening on many rivers, too many. Developers and individuals come in and build too close to the river. They do this in order to take advantage of the river, but in turn they increase gravel and pollutants in the river, and change it forever.
  18. I don't believe they did. I believe I heard this Fall sometime. Its going to be a shame they don't have bleachers for watching the traffic circle on old 65. I watched it from my doctors office Thursday for about 10 minutes and even with little traffic there was a lot of confusion. I watched 3 make a complete circle When traffic is heavy I think it will be another traffic nightmare.
  19. I've become fond of P-Line CX. 6 would be the first choice, but, depending on the color where you're going to fish, you might get by with a slightly heavier line if you already have it.
  20. Not sure what the problem would be, unless you left a mess of course?
  21. I fished it last Friday, farther upriver, and it was so-so for us with most coming on Green, whether it was tubes or grubs. We spent a lot of time on Top, but it didn't produce any results. I agree the river does look good.
  22. I want to know if the better half had to carry him?
  23. I agree, and I would also bump it up to a 5 or 6 weight. A 4 weight is a nice rod, and I have one, but it can be a Bear if there is much wind. A heavier rod would also be suitable for warm water fish if the opportunity arises. IMO.
  24. Don't buy anything from that guy! Did you put in at the Farm? How was the fishing?
