  1. I would like to see the MOAT.
  2. The shoal is wadeble. Are you rigging your sluggo's exposed? If you are and still not getting hookups, I would use a needle to thread mono through them and add a treble on the end.
  3. It would be smarter in my opinion if they would put the money into natural fish habitat, habitat that is sorely in need of it rather than artificial ones. I speaking of our rivers and streams, the only natural fish habitat we have in Missouri and the only areas that are really hurting.
  4. Its called Gluvit, and it works well for what you want it to do. It will also make the bottom slicker and less likely to hang or scratch on rocks. You can order it online. If your boat will get sun on the coating I would paint it because Gluvit doesn't have a lot of resistance to UV rays.
  5. I've tied them for several years under the alias Ostrich Leech, but I've always tied mine in 14 and 12. I throw this out because while you're tying you might want do some in a larger sizes, and with a longer tail, I think then the G-bug.
  6. D3BPS, its my understanding that the money will be used in the lake. aside from water quality, I'm not sure what the fish habitat problem is in TR. As far as Bull Shoals goes, it is in an area with a lower economic status and smaller population, so it gets water. Table Rock is responsible for a much larger watershed than any of the other lakes, so there is some common sense in keeping it capable of absorbing a large influx of water. I do think BS could be managed a little better with species and habitat work. It would probably respond to some habitat work aimed at being viable during various lake levels.
  7. Yes I probably jumped too quick, but I suppose being exposed to the different species it was natural for me to think Rock Bass, when Goggle Eye are mentioned. In this area Ozark and Rocks are very close, so one catches both if you fish in different flows. I haven't personally caught anything but Rock Bass in TR, and I don't know that I've ever seen a Warmouth in the western part of the state.
  8. Yes, he did some time in Californy.
  9. Where's Ozark?
  10. Good information by SKMO. The problem with the lake level is that the Corp puts warning bouys up at areas that are dangerous at normal pool, or close to it. The lake is much lower and they don't put bouys up to warn of trouble spots.
  11. At least its got more than a trickle of water now, if we could just get some more long slow rains.
  12. This where I get a little wrinkle. I'm not anti Walleye, but I also know that LOZ had had them since the 50's, and probably much longer than that, they're native to the White and Osage systems. With this long history, they still don't enjoy much of a following when all things are considered. The bottom line is, they don't make much money for the state, and I doubt they will. They will never equal the true bass family in popularity, at least they haven't to date. I don't understand why the 2 lakes above would be held back anyway, they certainly aren't overrun by fishermen and I'm sure they have some big Shad dying of old age.
  13. I don't eat steaks out, but I've heard Rocky's, in old town, is very good.
  14. I guess its in the name, much like Black Perch and Green Sunfish.
  15. I would think that the Hybrids would be a dream fish for the department. They get a lot more attention then many other fish that are dropped in every lake. Between their tolerance and the fact that they can't reproduce and become a nuisance, they seem a perfect exotic.
  16. I haven't been on the Kings at 86, but going over the bridge it looks like enough water to go farther, what am I missing? Bobber, put that 133 in and go up in it.
  17. Doug you can buy good maps at any Wal-Mart here, or at Bass Pro if you happen to stop there on the way in. You'll probably want the "East" map. Pay close attention to the lake level, its very low so you'll have to adjust for fishing and safety. You should find Crappie without much trouble. There are some coves on the East side of Indian that produce, and I would imagine on the west side also.
  18. To the best of my knowledge they're all natives, which would make them all the same. The fact that they have taken so long to adapt to the lakes might indicate a little evolution I suppose, but not a different species.
  19. The thinking behind this is related to the growth rate of the fish. When Spots share the same length limit with fish that grow faster and larger, you run the risk of allowing their population to expand at a faster rate then the others. Eventually you run the risk of them becoming the predominate species of Blacks. I doubt that this will happen on TR, but it wouldn't be too far out to expect them to make a dent.
  20. That sounds like Twin Bridges. Check some of the other post here, there are some recent ones on that area.
  21. Bill have you forgotten this post? Missouri doesn't seem to have the interest in Hybrids that I would expect. Whats your opinion on this?
  22. I do 3 things and I seldom have any problems. I put the line on the spool according to the accepted system, but I then take the reel outside and lay out more line than what I will use and wind it back on the spool under a little tension from my fingers. I then take the spool off and run very warm water over the line to set it. When fishing I close the bail by hand. This last action will make a big difference by its self.
  23. Skeeter, did they get the Whites in the lake, creeks or the pothole area?
  24. I don't think there is one. His brother was doing the Gitzits and he had a site, but I heard it was either sold or for sale. You might search for the Gitzit site and see if he handled the Swimming Minnow. Here's a site that you can order from. I haven't been in it in a while so I don't know they're selection, but Don probably does. http://www.tablerocktackle.com/page1.htm
  25. Not sure, but it was early 50's I think. I made a trip down here with my dad and we fished the White above and I believe we did a day on Taney at Rockaway before heading to Bull Shoals. I know I was here again in '62 with some buddies when we were in uniform. We fished TR, Taney, and Bull Shoals on a furlough. Siver Dollar City gave silver dollars in change on one of the trips.
