  1. I got the impression he wasn't comfortable with those big defensive lineman running at him as soon as he looked up. I think the Chiefs are doing a reasonable job working with some glaring glitches in the offense. Time and Avery will solve a lot of the Bowe problem. It's easy to double up on a receiver if there is no other threat, Avery is looking like the other threat. there is still some inconsistency, Charles dropped a sure pass and cut the wrong way and missed an easy first down in one series and Reid was all over him, just as he should on a pro with that much experience. A person can tear them down and dissect them, but the bottom line is they are winning and some good teams are losing to them. my take today is that they have improve enough to beat some good teams that take them lightly and don't play solid football, but they won't beat the good teams that play a solid game against them, not yet anyway. The line has got to improve to make them contenders. You can't have someone coming free from the right play after play, it's too easy to block the left side with a LB if you have no where else to go..
  2. I'm not sure that they inhabit the same water. It seems the invasion, Big Head and Silver carp, fish tend to inhabit deeper rivers and are in some lakes now. I doubt that giggers will ever see enough to make any difference. The biggest problem, I believe, is in the government and the fact they are ignoring the problem. They find themselves in a pickle in a sense. They allowed the fish to be imported alive to clean the ponds of commercial growers and they surely can't believe they never thought any would escape. On the other hand these invaders are suppose to be very good eating fish that lack the bones and red meat in the common carp that is so widespread, after the gubmit stocked them a hundred or so years ago. If they push to put them in the commercial market they will compete with market that brought them here. Irony I guess, If they take off they might be the death of the commercial fish farming trade?

    College Football

Can't agree F&F. If the NFL wants to change the rules and allow high school grads, or whatever immediately that would be fine. You and I both know they aren't because kids coming out of high school haven had the advantages of professional grooming making them both trained mentally for the big league and even more important physically. They especially need the professional physical conditioning to allow them to survive against professional well conditioned athletes. Footballs different, there's no foul in it when someone runs over you at full speed. The NCAA doesn't hold the athletes hostage, the NFL does. College ball is like boot camp, you don't get paid much, but you do get a lot of live saving conditioning and instruction.
  4. All this is nothing more than beating around the bush. The reason some are "to big to fail" is because there are those whose investments and fortunes depend on the the "too big to fails". it's not just the guy who has made a big salary, it's also big unions with pension money and IOU's, congressman and senators, CEO's and the ever increasing public employees. All this money isn't in piggy banks, it's invested! When you write an executive order only allowing certain organization members from benefiting from public money you create class warfare between those who can, and those who need to but can't. This new so called class war is a real no brainer, nothing has changed except the finger pointing. There have always been various levels of haves and have nots and there still is and what has changed is the finger pointing and the New New Deal. The New New Deal is that you give everybody a wonderful life free and clear, but it can't be done because someone else won't pay for it. The ones who won't pay for it are the villains, while the rich, like those in congress with low capital gains taxes laugh all the way to the bank. Class warfare was the main tenet of Marx and Engels and it has never worked except for a few in power, but it doesn't stop those with some inside tools from pushing it.
  5. F&F he played base ball and could have gone there. He's getting paid, education, room & board, medical and a showcase of his talents in 1 or 2 years for the NFL.
  6. The problem I see, now, is that the dark and persimmonn link doesn't appear right. My first thought was a Timber, but after checking coloration patterns they don't seem to match?
  7. You said "always in contention" and in my experience watching the show for almost 60 years, some of those rarely show up. I just think by stats those I listed as questionable are more often then not flash in the pan teams who show up when and if they get a good team. The others that could be considered real perennials generally only need a decent coach to compete for long periods of time.
  8. How much would mr. football make if the other 21 left the field?
  9. The problem with entitlements are the fact they are not all equal. SS is a pyramid scheme based on everyone paying in and in theory should work fine, but enter congress, exit numerous federal and other privileged groups and the pyramid becomes a mound. Then create unrealistic entitlements that require a large input of funds by people not in the pyramid and you have 2 pyramids being paid for by one group that is smaller than the whole.
  10. Yup, the legislature was never meant to be a profession. You can't be a professional representative or senator and a peer at the same time. Of course lobbyist are only allowed for one reason, they serve the legislatures. If not for that they wouldn't be allowed unless they represented constituents. The press doesn't do a very good job of living up to the constitutional privilege, but then again the constitution never saw the government controlling the most important source, the airways. The system has become a cesspool ripe for exploitation.
  11. Yeah looking closer it has the right color combinations for a rattler, but they're in the wrong configuration.
  12. Not buying your list F&F, it doesn't hold up historically. I think you'll have trouble finding A&M, Wisc, UCLA, Stanford, Iowa, Ark and VA Tech on a list of perennial leaders. Ohio State, GA, TX come to mind as misses. maybe Miami, Notre Dame, and NB. All time leaders would probably surprise you when it comes to those not on it.
  13. Yeah you might miss it Lancer. I have Direct TV and it isn't listed on the Springding channels. Looks like an NFL channel event.
  14. The markings are consistent with a timber rattler. The light links between the black stripes are a give away, IMO. It appears to be young and shedding which means it's senses were probably compromised on a hot day which means he might have been blind and not sensing heat very well.
  15. Oops, I missed that.
  16. The problem I have, and have always had with Boise is that they practice all year for a big game and then the idiotic announcers, trying to add color, put them on a pedestal. They hang with the also rans all season and then get a big bowl bid where the do well after a long practice season. There are a lot of bigger, and meaner, conferences they could have moved too, but didn't. Do you think Boise could hang a season in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12 or the Pac 12 and rank in the top 4?
  17. While I wouldn't disagree with this necessarily, I don't think the hatcheries can wait. The thread addresses closing mitigation hatcheries and I can't imagine anyone wanting to see the tailwaters become cold water wastelands in regards to sport fishing. The promise was the when the dams killed the warm water economy and the world class fishing on the White, the government would stock it with cold water fish as long as the dams stood. That's a debt, entitlement, obligation, what ever you want to call it and I don't think anyone believes there isn't some pork that can't be eliminated to meet the obligation.
  18. This might be interesting to some on here, not that I would start any controversy. You guys know I would never do that. http://newsok.com/oklahoma-football-bob-stoops-right-wrong-about-the-sec/article/3807996
  19. Yea, where's Lou Holtz when you need him?
  20. I don't know Chief. I understand your idea, but I would worry about is that ,IMO, you need a little heat on the cheese to release some fat. The fat is suppose to absorb some of the smoke and then retreat back into the cheese when it cools??
  21. Well not pro enough to know what they want, that's why congress pushed the F-35 and the C-17 down their throats.
  22. One of the best ways to smoke cheese is to use a suitable cardboard box set over a vent. You put enough heat in the smoker to produce smoke and then vent that smoke into another box. By the time the smoke and heat reaches the cheese it will be pretty cool. The colder the smoke the longer you can smoke and the better flavor you'll get.
  23. Fantastic pictures. I never go to Taney without some #18 Griffiths Gnats. I think the fish are conditioned by all the midge hatches. What size were the midges?
  24. I thought that too, but on the replay I thought I saw his foot slip and that possibly he was trying to brake and change direction, I hope I'm right.
  25. The country has always had some debt, but never of the magnitude we're seeing now. Lets face it, we all know that eventually they whole budget will be absorbed by interest if steps aren't taken to reduce it to a manageable number. There is no reason the government can't do as ever family has to do in money crisis, trim the frills. I don't think the hatcheries for mitigation are a frill, the economies the serve are important and meaningful to real people. This whole situation shouldn't be happening where one agency given the job of providing wildlife, because that is their department, wants to pass it onto an agency who's job it is to construct. One agency sees an easy out to recoup a budget loss and it's ridiculous because they apparently don't see it as part of their mission after multiple decades. It was apparently fine as long as they got extra money and personnel, and now it's an easy fix to budget deficit, pass the buck. It's like children squabbling over whose job it is without regard to the fact that it doesn't matter because they both serve the same master, or should.
