  1. I think technically they probably are, but when released there is nothing to take to a judge. If you want to target g-eyes you might hit the slack water harder. They seem to have a preference for slow, deep eddy's.
  2. Scared me there for a minute when you said floated up. All kidding aside it is a great way to fish a lot of our rivers, especially the smaller ones. I never got as far as intended either.
  3. Eric you're just jealous because you don't have a canoe that nice.
  4. I know that F&F, and I give it a good try on occasion in upper BS, but clear water and a very wary fish is tough on an old man.
  5. That's one of the problems I have with using undersized equiptment. Much of the fun, if not most of it, is in the stalk and the hook up. A long fight generally starts to get boring when the reason for the time is that you're simply waiting for the fish to tire becaause it is in control. To each his own I guess.
  6. I wouldn't want to bet it wasn't.
  7. I have no doubt. Mine to date have been few and small on the long rod, but I catch a lot of them midsummer on rod and reel and they are a blast.
  8. I guess I'm just not intimidated by others on man made lakes. Table Rock isn't as crowded as some would have you believe and I don't thibk Fellows is either. I see it as a good thing that there is more to Fellows then a bowl to store water in. I can't comment on the not fishing long enough because I don't know how old you are, but for me, I can't remember, to long ago. Unlike many I can't even remember my first fish, but it was probably a black perch and I probably had help. I'll be you haven't fished to much longer than I have though.
  9. UNBELIEVABLE! I'm having a problem understanding where you're coming from. What's your plan to determine who gets to fish and who doesn't? You don't fish it anymore for crappie because too many others do? Natural, it's man made, there's no natural left! At least when you go north people will surely appreciate the extra space available on the lake, to many people fising it already.
  10. I've used Extrasports for a long time for paddling, including white water, and they are top rate. There are some good looking vest with the fishermen in mind out there and while not cheap they'll probably last. I would advise you plan on spending $75+ and stay with the top brands, they'll be worth it in the long run.
  11. I would have to disagree with your assesment Bill. As long as the HP satys at 40 and there is no sking or swimming it will remain about what it is.
  12. No, but I haven't been down this week. I gave up also, so they're probably there now.
  13. You don't have to tell us what you tell your wife.
  14. That and open up the loop some.
  15. There are aluminum eyes that might benefit flies tied for muskies and intended for 8 or 9 wts. They're intended for salt flies that need big eyes.
  16. They say that bead chain eyes make a sound in the water, but of course I don't know how the know that. I do occasionaly hear one in the air, right before I duck!
  17. I fish a lot of weighted flies, clousers, etc. and the lines that roll cast fairly well work better for me. I have slow rods and fast rods, it seems that modifying the casting stroke is also important. I've been reluctant to invest in any of the new full sinks because the cost prohibits experimenting. The Axiom is said to be a real cannon, but many people end up overlining it. One effect of overlining is to slow the rod down and I suspect that is the end porpose in many cases. It might not be the White River, it might be that you need a faster rod to match your casting style.
  18. Any 14'-16' jon with a 36" bottom will work pretty well on most rivers.
  19. I don't care that much about the length of the worm as I do the diameter. I like a gap that is at least twice the diameter of the worm I'm using so that I can go through it even when it is doubled. If you buy hooks from a display look at the gap and the wire diameter and pick the appropiate size. Brands vary enough that the size is not always that useful.
  20. How about the buffs, tred them yet?
  21. I don't have any handy to give the particulers, but the ones Bill Babler uses are first rate.
  22. How does that Streamer Express roll cast? Are you able to get it on the surface easily?
  23. Lightning is unpredictable and I don't blame you for being worried.
