  1. Because???? They won't do this GF, not voluntarily. If you are talking about above power pool, thats a different animal. I would also guess that it would be expensive to calculate, however. I know that many on here don't see BS month after month. Its the last "Bucket" in protecting the lower White agriculture, which is the purpose of the lakes, supposedly. It's kept where it is in water levels because it can then take a flood from its own watershed, or it can alleviate one from above, or both if its capacity is kept high.
  2. There may be a silver lining in the recent food stuffs tainting. I assumed that anything coming in that could be remix and distributed to millions would be analyzed. Apparently its left up to the buyer, and maybe that will change.
  3. I haven't been on the east end of LOZ in a few years, so you got me there. What lake did they move all those 40-50' footers too?
  4. I think you're talking politics crappiefisherman. TR has the pull due to its popularity, BS doesn't. It s the same reason that the dam height wasn't increase in lieu of flooding Branson in an emergency. I would think before they commit some changes to the lake improvements would be made. They're raising Taneyville hiway, maybe thats why. This doesn't make sense, water stored above power pool is for flood control. I believe that BS, because it has less real improvements is first in line for generation, at least thats what I've heard. Don't forget that water from TR gets used twice, and it has the advantage of 2 rivers feeding it.
  5. Why? If they're big enough to have ballast tanks and visit foreign ports, they can surely stand the cost of protecting our waters.
  6. It is E-10 and its usually the same as unleaded, but its fallen back. I don't like to jump to conclusions, even though I could use the exercise, but its strange to me that 10% alcohol could suddenly make that much difference. I buy the E-10 when ever possible, I figure its more for farmers, less for foreign oil.
  7. Does she do a lot Patsy Cline in her show?
  8. Hard to beat sitting in a yak, or solo canoe, on a Missouri Smallie stream.
  9. I'm ignorant on the facts, but I understood that the power pool would be raised 5'. On BS the power pool is fleeting and normally only seen briefly in the spring, so I assume the effect, if its true, would be that the lake stays at a higher level overall. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the water level for BS is more a paper thing than a reality.
  10. The Water Patrol certainly has its challenges. A man from Huntsville has been critically hurt when his personal watercraft collided with a state water patrol boat that was trying to stop him at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri State Water Patrol says the jet ski operated by William Fish made a sudden left turn into the path of the water patrol boat. The Water Patrol says its boat had its lights and siren operating.
  11. In case y'all are interested, I saw on TV this evening that they are very tasty breaded and deep fried.
  12. I think the key word is cumulative, in other words if people become "A little" more conservative about fuel consumption, the cumulative effect can be meaningful. Not everyone can use the same tactics. I can avoid maintaining my speed on hills, which is almost constantly for me, run 65 on 65, rather than 70, up and down the grades. On the other hand someone in Springfield or KC or STL have other possibilities. I think the bigger fear has to be the side effects, such as, does anyone want the government to start dictating what constitutes too much profit? Most traveling benefits a large number of low income people, these aren't people that can cut back, but people that have to go public assistance. The effects can be enormous in some areas.
  13. Bryant creek isn't far from there. You might explore the feeders, but I don't have any information on them other than that they were probably Smallie streams before the lake flooded most of them. If I remember right, Chuck T talks about them in his book.
  14. I'm sure they wouldn't either, and they shouldn't, they've been there a long time. But after the park decided that they needed to be in the businesses formerly provided by private industry, the vacuum has been filled by smaller outfits clogging the river to some extent. Somewhere around the mid 80's the state DNR should have began issuing permits to the established livery's in existence then, in order to regulate access by commercial companies, but instead they went into the canoe rental business themselves!
  15. I lived near Bennett when there was a big hatch, '85 I believe, and it hurt more than helped fishing there. I didn't get on the river during that time so I don't know what effect it had there. I know you had to keep your eyes covered and your mouth shut it was so bad for a couple of days.
  16. It amazes me that people are afraid of snakes. They give me a start if they surprise me, but if you travel much outdoors you should know where they tend to be and avoid it. Snakes are well down the list of dangerous outdoor hazards. Black Widows are pretty docile and I'd take a hundred of them over one Fiddleback.
  17. GF I think much of it is how they do it, there have been billionaires made that did no labor, no planning, and made virtually no investment. It seems that luck has replaced smarts and hard work.
  18. In my experience its hard to get much more in the way of speed from a factory package, but I think Tracker is Conservative in their propping. The reason they do this is because they use the motors on several different hulls, so it may not be the best configuration for yours. In order to get an accurate speed reading you must run on the same water conditions, I.E. light chop, ripple, flat, etc. You'll get your best speed from a planing hull with a light chop usually. You haven't said anything about trim, I assume you have it, and that setting can affect the hole shot as well as the plane.
  19. Maybe some of them will go under, there are too many of them now. The state should have stopped new rentals 20 years ago, then it would still be a pleasant trip down the river.
  20. Sorry to hear that Terry.
  21. I suppose it depends on your interests. We went to central VA two years ago and got a good fill of history from battlefields to Montecello, which is a must. Had we had the time, Williamsburg would have been on the list also.
  22. I couldn't find the one we used to make, but this is close, as I remember it. 2 c. water 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. white vinegar 1/2 c. butter 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  23. Is your cavitation plate at the right level?
  24. Or that you just can't win?
  25. Sure! Thought you'd never ask. Ever feel like this? Or you have to catch all the fish!
