  1. Donkey rig is awesome
  2. Couldn't have been deeper than 20'. Drop shot on elmdale.... Nice!
  3. I've had a lot of success with the Alberto knot and it's quick and easy.
  4. Wow, this turned into something strange! I'm 37 and have come to realize the truth always lies in the middle! I've seen many of both in each generation and I'm not sure either knew how to skin a squirrel or make possum gravy haha lol.

    9/8 report

The hook was about 12-15" off the bottom so I guess I caught them technically at about 39'. Located them on my sonar and saw they were active and dropped vertically. Caught most vertically and a few by casting. I was sitting in 30-40' trolling the bank and casting and when I would see a group under me I would just open the bale vertically. Bite would come with in about a 5 count and a few hit it on the fall. The fish were active and moving. If I passed over them on sonar and backed up they were gone. It didn't last long, but I've also caught them in 40' up at rocky branch in cedar trees before.

    9/8 report

the goal was bass and I found a few in ventris. Main lake points early and after moving back in the cove I found my biggest at about 2lbs about mid way back. Drop shot was the technique that caught 8 or so in 30 fow average. A few in 40 fow. A lot of huge bait balls as well and plenty of pesky perch. A person could load up the cooler with crickets. I may have to take my kids soon. They were everywhere. Not a lot of size to what I caught but was still fun. Eventually moved into pc and zerod there. Sun came out and I was gone!
  7. can you fish this lake ? Anyone know anything about it? Looking for average depth etc.
  8. Interesting, what depths would you say these lashes are? I've caught plenty of bass on a drop shot in 40' before but in select places. I'm guessing 20-30' average depth before the ledge drops off into deeper waters. This idea really centered around the idea of how do most develop the current days pattern. For me it's pretty simple and caveman like. 1. I go beat the banks in creeks and hit the secondary points. This is where I have had the most luck targeting brush piles etc. 2. If 1 is a no go I move out to main lake points and docks as well as inside and outside channel swings. 3. Bluffs 4 insert ledge fishing here Wondering if anyone else will share their general thoughts when approaching a bass pattern for the day since it changes so much on beaver.
  9. Just been thinking about this style and attempting to be successful at it. Seems like every ledge I feel looks good doesn't show any fish and when they do I can't get them to bite. Just though I'd try to get a discussion started around this for beaver lake tips/ advice. Anyone else having success and how deep are the ledges you are targeting?
  10. The 12 and 8 will be awesome, tell us what boats your considering? New or used?
  11. JDoc, if a pro wanted 101# tm why wouldn't they want a 105#, bigger=better?? I saw someone say they would go back to cable cause they have to look at the buttons on remote and my thought is over time you will memorize where they are over time. How many people here look at there TV remote to change the channel up or down? I was also thinking that as a bass fishing angle only, I'm constantly in 10-20 fow or more casting to the bank or am drop shotting. For the life of me I can't think of a reason why this is golden for pro anglers alike. I don't think the motor noise is loud enough to spook fish more than a cable driven motor.
  12. Both of you guys answered my questions and confirmed my excitement for the wireless function. The anchor feature alone is worth it for beaver. As a bass angler out there we are always fishing pretty deep. The criticism from others I've heard is the wireless doesn't respond as fast as the cable driven tm, but from what you all have said and the vids I've watched on you tube I disagree. It seems like it's better really. Thanks again. I was gonna buy a new graph this year but I think I'll get the tm instead.
  13. Also, what species do u fish for primarily, I know a lot of walleye fisherman are using these but I don't see many bass anglers using either, thanks
  14. Great feedback! How is it around docks?
  15. Anyone know of any pros that use the xi5 or the ipilot? Seems like they all still use the cable driven motors. Anyone here willing to endorse either or provide an opinion of each? Thanks!
