  1. And rainy!
  2. I wasn't below the park. I guess I'm confused on what the zones are then because I didn't go down below the dam. I thought that was zone 3? I knew you couldn't fish fish below the last bridge during C&R.
  3. I was down on Sunday throwing jigs and did pretty good. Fished about 3 1/5 to 4 hours and caught over two dozen easy. Granted I didn't catch any big ones though. I was surprised to see hardly anyone down in zone 3 Sunday morning. Might fish came in droves at times. I mean I would catch several out of one hole only to move on and catch nothing in the next hole. It was enough to keep me occupied.
  4. Ok, so no one else wants in on this? It looks like defending champ Buzz will defend his honor against the Chief and me. If no one else decides to go I might want to fore go the lunch and just fish. If more decide to go we should really plan on something I guess.
  5. I fished Capps yesterday morning and didn't do too well. The wind was impossible to fish! Well, it could be fished, but it was pretty hard. I met a couple of nice people down there. One from Joplin and the other from Fayetteville. It was really slow, but I imagine after they stock it will pick back up. I was a little surprised to see the gate to the mill closed all morning though. Hope to see some people come down for the Sunday of Thanksgiving.
  6. It was another great opening for C&R at Roaring. I wasn't able to get there until around 9:00 so I missed out meeting most of you. I did meet Phil and talked to him for a little bit, that was nice. I guess I ended up catching around 15 before I left for the house. After that cold hard rain I stayed around for a little while longer, but finally got too wet and cold even for me. I was targeting bigger fish all morning and caught two decent ones, but none over 20" this time. My biggest for the day was around 18". I caught all mine on a ginger colored jig in 1/32.

    Stupid Virus!

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the free scan version of that program also, but don't remember it removing the virus. The red "x" on the lower right hand toolbar disappered and doesn't give me annoying alerts, but I can't get rid of the shortcut on my desktop. I haven't been getting real problems so maybe I'm ok. I hope.
  8. Like to get there that early, but won't be able to get there until around 9:00. I'm sure you guys will eat plenty for me!
  9. Me, I'll be throwing jigs on a spinning rod. Falcon 5' with #4 p-line in moss green. All my jigs for down there will be 1/32 and 1/64. I have found smaller than that is a waste of time IMO. I catch more big trout on the 1/32 size than anything else. Some of the colors Tim mentions I have on hand, but I also will tie two and three color jigs with different combos.
  10. Found the "AntivirusPro2009" on my computer Sunday and have been trying to remove it. Several places on the web tell you how to remove it for free if you know a little about computers. Here's the deal. I do know a little about them, but this one is a butt! I cannot find it's file name or registry keys anywhere I search for them. I don't think it has fully installed because I'm not experiancing any real difficulties yet. Key word yet I think. Wondering if I should use system restore and if that will actually work or just hide it for awhile. Any takers on this one?
  11. I wasn't sure I could make it this year, but I plan on being there on opening C&R day as well! Come on guys, you mean I'll be the only one down there throwing jigs? You can't miss me
  12. You should hook-up with Buzz and I on Thanksgiving weekend. You need to put in a lot of time on that stream to figure it out. I won't tell you where they are because I don't know you, but if you hook-up with someone on here I'm sure we would be glad to help you!
  13. Just wanted to bump this back up. Getting closer to Thanksgiving all the time. Come on everyone and come on down. So far we only have 4 people interested in the idea. Let's get more people!!
  14. Dang Buzz, I must have just missed you then. I went over to the handicap spot about 9:30 and fished the whole creek by noon. I only fished in the most productive spots I knew of. I ended up with four for the count. Water is very low right now and Buzz was right, they haven't stocked it as of late. I don't think they will stock until November though. For me yesterday I was just killing time.
  15. Most people don't "get" it when it comes to fishing with jigs. That's all I use anymore. Stiff rod with great action and small line are the key. Better tell those trout over 20" I have caught that the paint matters! It does not IMO. I never paint the head. I also don't fish jigs any smaller than 1/32 unless I'm at a trout park, then I might go down one size to 1/64th.
  16. We didn't get as much rain as some thought we would around here. Even though it was a stready rain, it still only managed around a couple of inches around Neosho and Goodman. I thought it was going to be rolling too until I looked at the CFS rate. I wanted to do the Mulberry tomorrow, but now it doesn't seem to be happening. ):
  17. You need to call any of those outfitters down here before you come down. Right now the water is rolling pretty good from what I can tell and the fact some of them close after Labor Day weekend. That was in case you were spending the night. If not then there will probably be somewhere she can get her feet wet!
  18. My neighbor and I fished Elk on Sunday and tore them up. Now mind you we were bass fishing, but ran into two different guys who both said they were catching the cats! Sounds like the bite is on unless the rain just gets to be too much tonight and tomorrow.
  19. Well, we met down at the mill, but must have missed you. The brats and beans are a given for this event don't ya know! Think about it Chief this year. I know I can't really break away too much during the holiday season because of my job and I think Buzz only can fish on Sunday also. Just seems like a good time to go.
  20. Sorry, that was not needed on my part. I have NEVER had any good luck or success on Shoal. That's just my problem. If you gaurentee me a huge 'ol smallie I might be a taker! Just read my past article about my bad luck and you'll see why I feel that way.
  21. Thought since the summer is almost over I thought I would put a bug in everyone's ear. Last year I tried to set-up a little friendly competition for fishing Capps. Sort of a one fly (jig) competition for bragging rights down on Capps. Buzz took honors last year ( only cause I had to re-tie all the time an he knows it!!! ). We even brought brats and beans, but no one else showed up. Too bad because we caught and released over 30 each just in the morning before 1:00. Let me hear some feed back from anyone who wants to come this year. I'm trying to make this an annual event. I might even try to set something up for Hickory as well later on in the year. Thanks
  22. You guys look like your catching some decent fish on Shoal. That's ok, I'll let you all catch them. I don't like Shoal for fishing.
  23. I floated the lower Elk with my neighbor on Sunday and we tore them up also! The bite is on again! Oh yea! We were throwing huge plastics in a dark green. We C & R several nice fish, but my neighbor caught a trophy greenie. Measured out at 22" and a girth of 14". We guessed somewhere around 7#. I figured that stretch could give up a nice smallie or two.
  24. Did anyone really think it was bigfoot? These guys were scam artist from the begining and I think most people could see that, but didn't want to beleive it.

    The Big

Awesome day of fishing on Big Sugar yestrerday. We got brave and decided to get up at five and be on the water as the sun was coming up. It was a wise choice indeed. The water and weather was just perfect. Before we launched the boats we saw plenty of deer on the way in. We launced at Cyclone and floated down to Deep Ford on this trip. There were three of us and we all caught fish. I dominated the goggle-eye , our friend Coop seemed to like swimming more than fishing, and my neighbor out fished all of us. Coop just couldn't keep out of the strainers! We told him not to put that cooler full of soda and water on the back of his yak, but he didn't listen. At least he recovered all his stuff. I caught a few smallies with the biggest around 12". I was using jigs and hellgies. My neighbor caught the biggest one of the day at 16". It was a fat toad with a nice girth. Caught that one on some sort of curly tail grub in green. Had to stop at Big Rock and chat with Russ. Not sure why they let him in there? Good seeing you again Russ. We had a good time on the water and caught plenty of fish to make things interesting. We all got into trouble when we got home also. The warden wasn't pleased to see us home later than promised! Oh well, mine knows better than to expect me home when I go fishing.
