  1. Ok Red, I thought you were cool and all until I saw those pics! lol Naw, just kidding, your alright in my book, but keep the snake away from me!
  2. Let me rephrase that, I can only fish on Sundays after Thanksgiving rolls around. Anyone else with ideas chime in please.
  3. Just started thinking (that's dangerous I know) about a get together at Capps this Fall sometime in November. How about a little one fly (or in my case jig) competition with a lunch afterwards for bragging rights on the Capps? I can put something together and we could have like brats and beans for lunch. Sundays work best for me, but I could look into a Saturday. After Thanksgiving I would be out also due to my job. Any thoughts?
  4. I think it will have to come up some more to make the Indian run worth while. If it's still up by this weekend I might be game.
  5. If I can clear it with the warden then ok! Although Sunday is the day for me.
  6. Good pics. One of these days I'll get back down there with you guys. I've still got Jeanie's cigg holder and I want to give Red a sample of that patch I'm using on my yak.
  7. Where's the porta potty?! lol Downstream I hope not.
  8. Did you go yesterday or Sunday? I was on the upper part Sunday.
  9. Hey everyone, if you need anything pertaining to the upper Elk or Big Sugar don't hesitate to give Russ a call! He knows the area well and can help you out. I know he doesn't want me to plug his business, but I can't help it because of the excellent service and help he gave me yesterday. That was a fun float we did and I'll have to get back with you in the near future.
  10. Ouch, the water levels look pretty high and more rain in sight.
  11. Sounds like I'm going to the Sugar or Elk this weekend! Maybe? If it doesn't flood out!
  12. Does anyone know whether or not they have started draining the lake? I want to get down to the Elk river arm, but last time noticed the water level to still be high and the water was stagnete looking.
  13. Bobber had a disco for sell. You might give him a pm.
  14. Sorry, I was talking about the visitor center over at the fish hatchery in Neosho. I read in the MDC magazine the one over at Wildcat park was suppose to be opening sometime in Sept.? The hatchery center I think just got the funding approved to go ahead with the project. Next time I see Dave, I'll ask him when they are going to start.
  15. Upper or lower end? I went the other evening and didn't do as well on topwater.
  16. Good read. I can't wait until Neosho opens it's visitor center. There will be all kinds of info like that there.
  17. I definetly wouldn't recomend using an anchor in fast moving water. In slower currents it's ok, but I wouldn't use one below a dam running 4 generators, JMO. Needless to say I have one that I use on smaller creeks with slower moving water. It is a round plastic cover dumbell that weights like 4lbs and it will hold me in place just fine. You'll find it works better at the front of the bow then in the back.
  18. Bob, if I had the extra cash available I would jump on that just because it would be another addition to my arsenal. I heard from Wayne not long ago, but don't know why he hasn't posted in awhile. He may not have internet access where he is right now or it may be limited. How about the installment plan?

    elk river

Let me know next time you get up this way so we can hook-up, but not on the upper part of Elk. You can leave me out of that one!

    Fish Kill

Heard about a major fish kill on Grand over the weekend, but didn't catch all the details. I am guessing a low DO from the excessive flooding? They didn't drop the water level for some time from what I heard. Was going to fish the Elk where it comes, but don't know if it's worth the time or not now.
  21. If I had the extra cash I would snatch that one up too. The canoe that is. I'm still holding out on Wayne's solo canoe or Pam 1oo! lol
  22. You fond of that yak are ya?

    Camping

I doubt that the kids will even float unless I can get another boat. Just too cheap to rent one for the day! lol They really don't care that much about it to be honest. Yeah, I really don't want to get overcrowded either. She will like the hot water and potties, but the kids and I don't really care. Bobber, you talking about taking 412 out of Springdale heading east? That was the way I was thinking about going also. Keep the ideas coming though.

    Camping

Need a little help here. Been sooooooo long since I have been to Buffalo that I need a little refresher. I'm taking the family camping next weekend and need a good location to camp. I know all the river is beautiful and I would like to make it a memorable trip for all. Wife and kids have never been so I need some directions! Considering Lost Valley, Kyles Lnading, or Steel Creek. Which one is the most scenic in your opinion? Which one is very easy access? I'll be coming from Neosho, Mo so I want the easiest way to go also. Any ideas would be great!
  25. Nice looking smallie, hope it was released for another day.
