  1. Where would I find the list of native fishes no longer there?
  2. Northern pike were tried in the late 1960s. Most were caught within a few years. It may have been a one or two time stocking, don't remember. Maybe they could try again.
  3. I bet the surface temp has dropped 10 degrees or so.
  4. I soaked a Hot N Tot in punch bait juice yesterday and then caught another channel cat on it.
  5. Where to go now since the upper white and tributaries are muddy? Nine times out of 10 I have fished the upper end above 412 Bridge.
  6. The upper white above Sequoyah is muddy and nearly bank full. Should muddy up the lake all the way to War Eagle, eventually.
  7. The water in early June is usually too cool for comfortable swimming. It warms up a lot between the first and third week of June.
  8. Last year I bought a Merc 9.9 four stroke to troll with. Hope to get some use of it this year.
  9. I was referring to the waves from wind. I was not even thinking about the wakeboats, but they could be a definite problem. I have been in a scary situation before trying to get back to PC from the Coppermine area when it turned windy in mid afternoon. Since I retired, I try to avoid windy days and weekends. The river end where I usually go is messed up now with muddy water again from last week rain, and so is Lake Sequoyah. Not many wake boats venture above 412 Bridge.
  10. I don't see how you guys can stay out there near 12 Bridge in this wind. My boat is a 1650 Xpress with a 15 inch transom. I would be afraid of getting swamped.
  11. Yesterday, just before the rain, I was throwing a crawdad colored Hot n Tot in the very clear upper white river a little piece above a riffle. I got a powerful strike, and it turned out to be a nice channel cat about 18 inches. Is this sort of a fluke, or could it happen often? Could not try again today as the river is up and muddy now.
  12. I found them at Southtown. They have a good selection of all but the pearl whites. Walmart had a few pearl whites in the smallest size; (I believe that is a #4), and no others.
  13. Where do you find the Berkley Flicker Shad, and what color? Walmart and Academy don't have them.

I was up river from Twin Bridges today and only caught one small male white bass. I guess the run is over for this year?
  15. They are only here to stay if they are continually stocked. Stop the stocking, and the stripers would gradually become extinct, just like the stocking experiment with northern pike when Beaver was nearly new.
  16. Launched at Beav-o-rama ramp today. Fished down to Blue Springs. Three small crappie caught, one small bass, and one much larger fish that got away, but did not see what it was. Talked to several people. They were catching some smaller crappie, but few keepers. Looked like about one to six ratio of keepers to non keepers as far as I can deduce.
  17. I saw some walleye that were caught last Saturday in White River just below the Wyman Bridge, out of a canoe.
  18. Yesterday, I went up to just below the Richland Creek confluence with White River. Nothing caught. Used white curly tail grub, yellow curly tail grub, and White Road Runner. ??
  19. Elmdale: I have suspicions that some of the people living around the N side cast net and trotline it pretty regularly.
  20. Lake Fayetteville or Lake Wedington or Lake Wilson.
  21. The main source of persistent muddy water in upper Beaver Lake is West Fork of white river. Visibility in Middle Fork and the East Fork above Lake Sequoyah is better than 30 inches today. West Fork about five inches just above its mouth. It provides less than one fifth of the flow but nearly all the persistent muddiness. I suspect someone is gravel mining or some other activity that muddies the water. I wonder if anyone at the state level has investigated?
  22. 59
  23. Only caught four keeper white bass today, all females. Same place. One of them was spawned out, others full of eggs. Visibility is improved somewhat from yesterday.
  24. I fished off the bank about halfway between Wyman bridge and Twin today. Caught a bunch of males and two decent sized female white bass. The river visibility is about 15 inches there. Lures were white Beetle Spins, eighth and sixteenth ounce both worked.
  25. Maybe a whole white bass run unfishable?
