  1. They are way too expensive for me right now. I just replaced an old foot controlled Motor Guide with a new one in 2012. Maybe the price will come down by the time I wear it out.
  2. I wonder if there is a small white bass run up the rivers out of Lake Sequoyah?
  3. I don't run on plane there, but have seen many others do it, and had water skiers pass by while I was fishing.
  4. Table Rock backs up the river to the back of Beaver Dam when above the 915 level. At Houseman and below you should be fine if you stay near the channel when running on plane.
  5. White River was running good volume and clear at Elkins today. That will push the mud line toward 412 Bridge in a few days, barring more rains.
  6. Here is a link to the USACE Beaver Lake map. It shows all the points. http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/Portals/50/docs/beaverlake/BeaverMap.pdf
  7. There is a big sign on the northeast end of the point sticking out into the mouth of War Eagle Creek with a number 12 on it facing into the lake. It is the last point marker as you head toward the upper (river) end of Beaver Lake. It is straight across from the mouth of Pine Creek cove.
  8. Point 12 is at the mouth of War Eagle creek, where it runs into the main White River arm of Beaver Lake.
  9. It clears first at the river end, from Hwy 45 to Beavorama, due to relatively clear water running in as the river drops. Most of the muddy water seems to be coming from the West Fork, as usual. I suspect some illegal gravel mining somewhere upstream on that fork is making it worse than usual, as it was suddenly very muddy at 16 bridge last week without any rain. West Fork from about Greenland on down always contributes the majority of the mud due to clayey dirt roads and plowed fields right by the river. I wish something could be done about that, but it has been that way for many years. The middle part of the lake from War Eagle to 12 Bridge might stay very muddy for a couple of weeks, even with no more rain.
  10. Lots of muddy water entering the upper end of Beaver. Soon as it starts to clear at Hwy 45 in a couple of days, the White Bass run should be starting. ......unless we get another snow.....
  11. The cabin fever is terrible; I don't tolerate the cold very well, never have, so I don't usually fish in the winter.
  12. The road at Beaver Dam is 1142. I think the max this year will be 1125.
  13. The old Habberton Bridge in the upper end of Beaver was simply dropped and at least part of it left on the bottom. I remember going by it in a boat back in the late 1960s and seeing twisted re-bar sticking up just above the surface. It seems to be gone now.
  14. Where do you put in? I have heard all the ramps and shoreline are closed, and you cannot legally use a boat unless it is docked somewhere.
  15. I have been too busy to go for the past month and a half, and probably won't have time to go until some time next year, with trying to sell one house, rebuild another, and take care of another place, plus working a job two or three days a week. It won't bother me fishing wise unless the shutdown lasts five months. I feel for you guys who cannot get on the lakes. I fear the shutdown might last a couple of years.
  16. The river there is effluent dominated right now.
  17. .?
  18. Which tail race near Alma? There is a dam near Ozark. On Beaver, I tend to fish the upper end where channel depth is less than 40 feet. Would Blues be in there?
  19. I sure would like to catch some good blues in Beaver. A lot of catfishermen in this area drive to the Arkansas river because It is perceived that Beaver has few catfish. No doubt the smaller ones would be better eaters out of Beaver because it is somewhat cleaner than the Arkansas river.
  20. What is your usual technique for catching big catfish on Beaver with rod and reel? I think they are likely under fished.
  21. I find it hard to manage even 12 jugs by myself, and that is above Blue Springs.
  22. Yes, if adults want to do something stupid, let them do it as long as they are not endangering others. I find it unbelievable that some people are so ignorant of apparent dangers.
  23. Wonder when the knee jerkers will close all lakes to boating and swimming to protect us from ourselves?
  24. Hopefully no total limit either. They are way overpopulated and stunted in Beaver, IMO.
  25. Maybe a big boat with a crane like used in dock repair or boat recovery could be brought in and winch up the whole tangled mess.
