  1. Two to three inches in a short period yesterday morning in the upper watershed. I keep close tabs bc I have a cabin near Pettigrew and go there every couple of weeks at least.
  2. It rained a lot yesterday morning in the upper watershed between Crosses and Pettigrew. That caused the rise, and it took several hours to get to the gauge, which is actually at the Wyman bridge.
  3. Look at the creek gauges. White River and War Eagle are not feeding this rise very much. It was the creeks on the dam end. Current mud line might not make it to Blue Springs.
  4. Live bluegill or shad for blues and flatheads. Stink bait will normally only catch channel catfish. Beaver in my opinion lacks a healthy population of catfish. They are few and far between. For catfish try Dardanelle Lake.
  5. I think it is. At least not very crowded, not as much traffic, more laid back lifestyle.
  6. I may never boat on Beaver again. Contemplating a move to the river valley!
  7. I never power load. Always by hand. With the HDPE bunk slicks the boat slides on and off like it is heavily greased. If something starts to go wrong when loading I will feel it long before any bad damage could occur. Power loading digs a hole at the end of ramps in times of low water when not much of the ramp is under water, and is strongly discouraged at some ramps.
  8. I have that map. Bought it many many years ago. It is from Structure Graphics, in two booklets on tyvek like paper, very detailed, shows all the old pre impoundment things. I like the Navionics maps better. Paper maps are a pain on the lakes. I used to use them there.
  9. I recommend pressure treated 2x4s with 1/2 inch HDPE plastic screwed onto them with countersunk deck screws. That is the single best improvement I have ever done to make my launching and retrieving easier. I got the HDPE pretty cheap cut to order at Mr Plastic on Kelley Ave in west Springdale where they make cutting boards. At $50 for two ten foot by 3.5 inch pieces, It cost less than half as much as the commercial "bunk slicks" like they sell at Cabelas, is much sturdier and longer, and works much, much better.
  10. Actually, I was at a place called "Beav-o-rama". Not many newbies know it exists.
  11. Out yesterday from 5:30 until about 10:30 PM. Only other boats I saw was a couple jet skis going in about sunset. I was on the upper part of the lake above Blue Springs. On the crowded parts of the lake I would like to see intense enforcement of existing rules for a while. Maybe some idiots would wake up.
  12. Why I don't go to the lake on weekends any more, now that I am down to working only 2 or 3 days a week in my semi retirement. Mondays and Tuesdays are best. Sunday evenings are ok if you go late enough. The weekend crowds are tired and sunburned by then.
  13. Last evening I caught some small bluegill on hook and line and used them on pool noodle jugs and one rod. Also used some punch bait. Caught nothing. Only one pull down on the punch bait. This was between Beavorama and Neills Bluff. Water temp was 85. Think I won't go again until after a substantial rain.
  14. Not much available as far as I have seen. Too proud of their property.
  15. Where is the best area now to throw a shad net for catfish bait?
  16. Predict 1111.
  17. I was out on LFS for the first time today. I didn't catch much, but it looks good. It has big boulders, standing timber in deep water, brush, algae, shad population; all the ingredients. Visibility was about 5 or 6 feet, so it's clear enough. The fishing should be really good. Any experiences?
  18. I put full length 1/2 inch thick HDPE boards on my bunks, and now easily crank it on. Slides off really easy too.
  19. I have been on Wedington a couple of times in the past few days. I have never seen it so murky. Visibility was less than two feet. Maybe the lack of sunlight will stifle some of the weeds. We caught a few bream and one decent crappie. I am thinking Beaver is still too murky on this end to fish, besides being unusually high.
  20. Six tenths in W. Fayetteville, but looked like more further south and into the white river watershed.
  21. The weather guessers seem to over-hype more and more. They cry wolf so much people don't pay as much attention as they should when a real threat exists. I think the TV stations have too much fear of liability. This year's rise since the low of 1108 in January has been the slowest and steadiest I can remember. All the other rises to 1125 seem to have had a major event in there. Upper White River has not been out of its banks this year.
  22. Shore fishing is very difficult due to snags. You will lose more gear trying it than any other method. If I was confined to shore fishing Beaver, I would try the areas of access from Blue Springs on up toward the headwaters. There is a lot of good access around the old Blue Springs park, and also at the place where Blue Springs Road crosses the small cove south of there a couple of miles. If the water level drops to about 1117, there is good access at Beav-o-Rama area.
  23. It's too high now for my liking. I hope it very slowly falls to about 1121-1122 after the hatch. 1121 is my favorite level for Beaver. Looks for now like the rain this week will not be excessive. Just enough to keep the lawn mowing going.
  24. Roadway 1142
  25. From what I have seen of it the locals living along the north bank fish Elmdale very hard and keep what they catch. Limb lines, trotlines, cast nets, etc.
