  1. Beaver has a good number of big lm and sm bass and hordes of small spotted bass. I am going to try dropshotting for some bigger bluegill when the rains stop and debris clears out.
  2. I know it should be possible to have large ones in Beaver. Years ago, I saw one well over two pounds at Lakeview on Bull Shoals.
  3. I wonder why there are so many small bluegill in Beaver and almost no big ones? In such a large lake, they should not be stunted, especially in the river end.
  4. It looks like this year will qualify as a "high water year". The first since 2011.
  5. I just walked over to the White river and it is up and very very muddy. There were some teens and younger swimming in it. I fear a tragedy, but what can one individual do, with no authority?
  6. The upper White River is up about two feet since yesterday and extremely muddy. Expect a new mud line to form in the upper lake above 412 bridge. 6-16: About 2.5 feet higher than yesterday (bank full) with debris piles coming downstream.
  7. I have been to Twin a bunch and saw warden sitting in truck. Never been checked.
  8. Never. Been fishing Beaver Lake since 1966. Never checked anywhere, and have fished lots of places in W and NW Arkansas.
  9. Surely this tragedy will be a wake up call for law enforcement on the lake.
  10. Channel 29 reports one person was killed this evening in a jet ski collision. Think it was in the PC area. Tragic.
  11. High water and especially debris is frustrating.
  12. Since an incident that happened many years ago, I have never ran much above no wake speed at night. When the lake was new, we were running on plane and ran onto a small low island somewhere in the vicinity of 12 bridge. The motor kicked up and we wound up about 40 feet from the water. The thing that saved us from any damage was the fact that the lake was brand new and the original soil was all there, making it one big sage grass covered mud flat. The three of us pushed and pulled on that boat for probably 15 minutes to get it back in the water.
  13. That megaphone could be a technical violation under the regulation for no harassing people lawfully fishing or hunting on public lands.
  14. You cannot save people from themselves.
  15. This afternoon I was over at Wyman bridge looking at the floodwaters. The river was rolling muddy and out in the trees on both sides. Then I saw a group of two kayaks and two canoes coming down the river. No more than three, possibly only two, of the six people were wearing life jackets. They very quickly passed under the bridge and on down. I hope we don't hear about an accident related to this on the news. To me it looked stupid......?
  16. COE will bring it down to about 1121 with heavy generation demand from SW Power Administration as soon as conditions permit. Depends on future rainfall.
  17. The White River at Elkins is nearly bank full, swift, and muddy this morning. Received 1.2 inches of rain last evening and night.
  18. More flooding in the headwaters and all over the lake. I wonder, with all the soaking rains, if the dam is in any danger?
  19. The Richland Creek USGS gauge at Goshen is showing way more flow than actual because Beaver Lake is backed up several feet over the gauge. Its flow is usually similar to West Fork of White River.
  20. I am working on getting permission to fish some large farm ponds, since the lakes and streams are so messed up. This weather has not affected most pond fishing in a bad way. Beaver can wait several weeks.
  21. The generators are all running, but judging from the tail water elevation, the flood gates are likely closed now. Headwater stream levels have fallen considerably, so the lake will continue to fall with generation only, provided no significant rain falls in the upper watershed.
  22. If it mostly stops raining, the floodwaters will get dumped quickly. Table Rock and Bull Shoals were both full in 2011, but have plenty of room now. I did not go on the big end in 2011 until fall, and it was cleared up nicely by then.
  23. How far has the mudline progressed in past floods? Point 5?

    More rain

We just received another quick half inch of rain in the upper White watershed. Small creeks are roaring again.
  25. Notropis, Yes you gave me good information, and I am still trying to make use of it, when the mud clears enough. I live up the White a little from Sequoyah.
