  1. I'm taking my oldest daughter tonight or tomorrow morning. hopefully they are still cooperating
  2. I'm definitely looking forward to eating it. they are really good.
  3. Caught these on leeches and worms. Channel was 15 and flat was 10 and had one come unhooked that was bigger than the channel. Fished around bridges.
  4. Yeah they are. they opened 2 or 3 weeks ago.
  5. Lakeys or the new one bait masters. i always buy from lakeys. it shouldn't be very busy but you never know.
  6. What were you using? i usually use shrimp minnows or shad.
  7. What were you using? i usually use shrimp or shad/minnows.
  8. Out of curiosity are you just fishing rock banks with a cork and wharever bait or are you fishing around bridges. I've always fished around bridges but haven't done well yet this year.
  9. Nice fish! what are you catching them on? Couldn't tell for sure but most looked like flats. you running lines or just fishing on the rocks with rod and reel?
  10. Well got down to h bridge around 730 and fished the rocks while my wife and daughters swam. used the very smelly shrimp i had left in the back of my truck and to my suprise didn't even get a bite. only fished till about 9 then had to go for icecream. i don't think the cats are spawning yet so must just be a tad early still in that part of the lake. hope you had better luck cole. Kevin
  11. Its a toss up. I'm going to ruark tonight an am using shrimp. but when i go there I've already got minnows and if the cats are up there they will bite those so i don't think you'll have much more of an edge other than variety. when i go to ruark i use shrimp cuase I'm not crappie fishing and i can reuse the shrimp. I would just use the minnows. saves money.
  12. I used to fish ruark for cats but last year while crappie fishing on the bluff one night i come home with a limit of cats so i fish for them there too but i still prefer h hwy more for cats
  13. You can get a hotspots map at walmart for stockton. You should be able to find it on there i think.
  14. Ya that's it. if you don't catch anything after a bit play with the depth. fish close far shallow deep till you find the pattern. I fish there a lot. i toss it out about 10 ft or so from the bank about 4-5 ft deep. if no crappie after a bit might have to throw on a slip bobber and fish deeper a little farther out on the rock shelf.
  15. I typically use a bag of frozen raw shrimp. but worms chicken liver and the minnows work too. i prefer the shrimp and minnows cause turtles and perch stay off of it. the cats should be just off the rocks around the bridge at aldrich using shrimp or minnows under a cork 3-5 ft deep 10-20 feet out. i should add cats aren't like other fish. when fully spawning and on the nest they will not eat. The females will after laying but while on the nest for 8-12 days a male cats will only strike if threatened. then they move to the flats early and late and deeper when real hot and feast on shad. After spawn i just catch a couple nets of shad at ramp at aldrich then go to flat north of bridge and drift. if your going to the bluff at aldrich I've caught more cats from the bank there on minnows than shrimp but i usually take some anyways.
  16. Crappie are all over. I've caught them on the bank and all the way out in 30fow trolling in the last week. cats may be close to post spawn in river but lake side is still early. post spawn is the best fishing drifting shiners on flats at aldrich through sept.
  17. I will do the same. used shrimp thursday and left it in the back of my truck so it ought to make some good bait. good luck Kevin
  18. I havent been to aldrich lately but went to ruark on h bridge thursday and had one about 10lbs. going tonight for a while hopefully its better than thursday.
  19. Where and on what at fellows ohai? hope you get into them tonight. I've caught a bunch at both but quality at Stockton is. by far better i think. Good luck. Kevin
  20. I think so. bait shrimp are whole and i think they throw off easier. the eating shrimp are just tails and are meatier and if you buy the best choice at walmart even though i hate walmart then its a little cheaper i think. i got the small 41-50 shrimp but i think the medium 36-40 is the best.
  21. When we drift shad at aldrich i just go across from the ramp and there's usually shad there but if not there's always schools on the flats either side of the bridge. my net has too big holes toi but it still catches some just lots of them get stuch in the holes. it takes a little time but i usually fish with 4-6 on a hook so it beats buying them. a net with 1/4 in holes is best if you can find one. mine and most I've seen are 3/8in holes. Kevin
  22. Went to h hwy bridge this evening. got there about 5ish and wend was blowing right in our face. we were using shrimp and i caught a nice 8-10lb channel and my buddy missed one. crappy thing is i put the cat on a clip stringer cause i left my basket at home and it wallered around enough to pop the clip open i guess cause when i went back to it the stringer was there but no cat and the clip was open. All good though there will be plenty more. it was really slow. still going to be a week or two before its real good i think. the water was still pretty clear. there was one other guy that had two or three when he left but i don't know what he was using but i assume liver or something messy cause every time he rebaited he would go to the water and rinse his hands. Can't wait till they get going more i love catching a mess of cats!! good luck and good fishing!! Kevin
  23. In my opinion krazo for this time of year no its not to shallow. Especially now through the summer the cats will be on theflats north and south of the bridge at aldrich. we usually drift shad on the north flat in 6-12 fow after the spawn till sept or so. this year I'm going to do it with free floating jugs as well cause it covers more water. right now they should be easy to find around the rock under bridges unti they spawn and then the females will move back to the flats to feed while males guard the nest. I'm going friday to ruark to fish the rocks. I also use shrimp when fishing around the rocks. good luck and good fishing!!! Kevin
  24. People do that at aldrich all the time. one guy loaded his boat pulled up just out of the water and stopped and spent the next 10min on the ramp strapping up his boat. wich ordinarily not a problem but it was pouring and i was trying to load. i finally spoke up as to how unhappy i was getting so wet. he moved but didn't like it lol. oh well what can you do. kevin
  25. Lol ya i wouldn't be complaining if i hooked into one of those. probably flatheads. depending on water temp they should be spawning or close to done spawning. thanks for the sighting. Big cats are a horse of a different color. i love it. kevin
