  5. so fun to see that little dude in the mouth of a monster. this one was a tad over 7 pounds. I've caught a bunch of biggies on that ned. keep up the good work man, of course I don't have to tell you but your hooked now. ol' ned is a sickness that won't go away! I always throw my neds on Pline CXX 6 pound. Super strong stuff!
  6. I love Lakeshore Resort down by blue haven. They have the ramp right at BlueHaven that they share together and good boat parking and Adam and Amanda the owners are just great people. 5 minutes from the landing by boat, 14 minutes to the cable with my little tin boat......5 minutes from good bass fishing down lake. They have done a lot of work on the place and it's quiet, clean, nice and a great place in general. Pool, Horsehoes, Grills etc for evening time. 2 boat docks and to reserve a slip is only 5 bucks for the entire trip. You can catch quite a few fish right off the dock also.
  7. Is the water pretty cold with just shorts on? I noticed when I ran to the cable with 2 units running a couple weeks ago, I actually thought it was EASIER to get to the cable than it was last year. I could be wrong but it seemed like the narrows are a tad wider and deeper than last year, the spot past look out island is pretty shallow but was doable and the spot above Trophy run wasn't as bad as last year. Again that is to me and I only get to run it 10 or 12 times a year. I expected it to be worse but was pleasantly surprised. What is that in the middle of the lake down from Fall Creek that looks like it has a milk jug tied to it? I'm assuming tree stump...its more towards the bluff than it is the shallow side but fairly close to the middle? Great video as always Phil. I like what your doing by adding the go pro on the side of the boat as well like you did at the cable a couple days ago. Thanks for making these for us folks that can't be there as much as we would like. They are a hoot to watch! travis
  8. think they will try again tomorrow?
  9. by the way the question contains to spinning rods and 2 pound test in a boat.
  10. found this in the archives. I'm a jig guy but would like to try this. How do you guys fish them in a boat, just under a float? Or do you fish them on a drift rig on the bottom? also do you tie with a plain hook or a small jig head? Also how do you tie and fish an egg fly during the same conditions?
  11. I've seen those and sure thinking about them!
  12. I'm looking for a pair of waders for fishing for trout in the Ozarks and some pond bass here at home. I don't want to break the bank at all.......I'm on a tight tight budget on these. What are some good ones for the money? I know a dumb question but I'm assuming if you buy the felt feet then you have to buy special wading boots as well? I know ZERO about them so any info appreciated.
  13. you know I hadn't thought about it much except in passing but there really is a lot of places you could boat up to and beach the boat and get out and wade. I know a guy could go up in the little creek across from fall creek and then walk that island and fish the narrows which is really tempting to try!
  14. I will be down in 10 days but starting to get nervous about fall creek, the narrows and above look out. sounds like the narrow lanes have gotten even narrower and shallower. Maybe stuck fishing below fall creek in the boat which kinda stinks. not to excited about possibly whacking a car either so I hope they are gone soon.
  15. I saw a picture on facebook from look out and it was looking down at look out island and it looks to me like it's going to be even tough to pass by boat, seemed to be more gravel than before but I could be wrong. I'm hoping Phil or someone is out taking pictures of the cars in the water as well as looking for changes around fall creek, lookout and the narrows in particular.
  16. Guys other than a trout magnet there is probably no better bait or lure to both numbers and sizes on taneycomo than a jig. Sometimes you have to try different colors and sizes etc. I would highly encourage you to get on you tube and watch phils video's over and over, not just for fun but study his style of snapping the rod and reeling down with it etc. He snaps it hard and pretty much holds his rod in the 9 oclock position and snaps it to the 12 oclock position. After you watch his videos' then I encourage you to watch some with Duane (ducky doty) in them, he fishes his a little different than Phil, he doesn't seem to snap quit as hard. But if you watch these 2 guys and study their methods then try to duplicate and apply them your next trip it will make a huge difference. Lastly a word on line size, not sure what you guys use but I use 2 pound test on my jigs and magnets 100% of the time. I know you can get away with 4 quite often and especially now but I stick with the 2 because I have almost 11000 yards of it but it will help your fish catches tremendously as well.
  17. I'm trying the new eagle claw lil' nasty black nickel hooks out. they are cheap and sharp as all get out. so far the folks that I have gotten them in the hands up have loved them down there and reported back with great results. They run about 4 cents each and are really sharp and the black nickel keeps them from rusting.
  18. I have a mold and pour my own heads. I got the Do It Walleye Jig mold I believe, it's got the flat slanted sides similar to PJ's. I like it cause I can put a premium sharp hook in it if I want to. I also powder paint my heads. takes less than a half hour to pour 100 heads usually. so far I've had great luck with them on Taney and I get some extra special little feeling inside when I catch them on something I made from the bare hook up to the final product.
  19. Looking for an american angler 12 volt filet knife that connects to a battery.
  20. you might consider the park across from Scotties, the mouth of turkey creek always has a bunch of trout especially with this kind of flows. it would allow for bank fishing at least. renting a boat from lilleys should be your first choice if you can though.
