  1. I checked and Cooper Creek doesn't do tents and they referred me to the Table Rock Campground. I'm also waiting on a response from MoParks about using a tube or toon at either of the lakes.
  2. Any suggestions on campgrounds for "tents' on the lake? And, if I use my float tube near the dam, would I be a candidate for being swamped out is that a no-wake zone?
  3. Swedish swimmers warned to protect private parts after discovery of notorious exotic fish An exotic pacu has been caught in Sweden’s Oresund Sound, and it’s cause for serious alarm–especially among human males who like to swim there. Pacus, which are native to South America, are related to piranhas, which have sharper teeth and are notorious for how quickly then can remove flesh from the bones of their prey. But pacus, which possess teeth that are almost molar-like and are designed for crushing nuts and fruit, boast a reputation for attacking the most sensitive area on the male human body. Thus, the Natural History Museum of Denmark has issued a warning: “Keep your swimwear on if you’re in bathing in the Sound these days.” The Local, an English-language Swedish newspaper, quotes museum biologist Henrik Carl as saying, “The pacu is not normally dangerous to people but it has quite a serious bite… There have been incidents in other countries, such as Papua New Guinea, where some men have had their testicles bitten off.” Carl acknowledged that such instances are extremely rare, and that he was having “a bit of fun” in discussing this discovery. But such an ominous warning is bound to at least temporarily eliminate skinny-dipping in the Sound. Meanwhile, the presence of a pacu is as mysterious as it is troubling. More than likely, someone who had kept the tropical fish in a home aquarium released it into the Sound. Are there others out there? People are asked to be on the lookout, while also guarding their private parts. “They are almost identical to the piranha, you couldn’t even tell from the outside,” Carl said of the fearsome pacus. “It’s just that they have different teeth. Flatter and stronger, perfect for crushing.” To be sure, if the pacu were a shark, it would warrant a feature on “Shark Week.” And Carl is not unlike those “Shark Week” experts who downplay the danger without really downplaying the danger. While he confessed that “there’s nothing to worry about” and that Swedish swimmers are more likely to drown than being bitten in a sensitive area by a pacu, he did not entirely dismiss the danger. “It could become a problem some time in the future if it’s not the only one,” he said. “This one was the first, but who knows, it’s probably not the last.” http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/natur...s-exotic-fish/
  4. I just relocated from Oregon and in the St. Louis area so Springfield is a bit far to connect for us. New to this forum as well but these folks are very good at responding so hold on to your hat and hopefully you'll connect with someone closer to you. Welcome to the forum!
  5. Received the following info from P&R: Lakes and Rivers 1. Below is a listing of lakes located within and owned by the St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation where boating is permitted. All these lakes, except Unger, have launching ramps and associate support facilities (parking, docks, etc.). Unger Lake has no hard surfaced access and boats must be portaged to the water. 14. I have float tube and a pontoon and am looking for lakes that won't have a lot of big boats to swamp me near St. Louis. Mainly going for trout but would consider other species. Any help is appreciated!

  23. Found the URL one but wanted to add pictures I have on my computer. Wanted to add/save pictures to my profile finding Manage Attachments under the general account settings but couldn't figure it out. Found the instructions in the help section but I don't see how to enable Flash Uploader or the default. Flash Uploader You can enable the flash uploader from your settings menu. When enabled, you will be able to easily upload more than one file at a time. Default Uploader The default uploader allows you to upload attachments one at a time. To begin, press the “choose file” button. A box will appear for you to select the file on your computer that you want to attach. Select the file you want to upload.
  24. You guys convinced to to bring it along. Thanks! I was going to sell it here but now I'll be taking it. Hope to see you all soon on the water! How do add photos?
  25. What are you angling for on those rivers?
