  1. Looks like the lake is gonna be busy this weekend...
  2. You guys use adjustable, or nonadjustable attwoods? Curious as to what angle the non adjustable is.
  3. Well ill be. Thanks zarra. I wonder why so much in just that one spot? Guy I work with said he seen the biggest crappie he had ever seen come out of that spot.
  4. Thanks J
  5. Or maybe I didn't... ha ha. Just went back to look and it might not be what I thought it was in the picture I was thinking about.
  6. Thanks guys. So, Attwoods makes both the plastic swivel type and the fixed wire type. Which ones are you all talking about? Kind of sounds like you all are talking about the plastic ones, but I know I seen a picture of some wire type in a boat recently
  7. What kind do you all use? Tube, plastic, wire formed? What angles? I have "engineered" all my current ones, but am considering biting the bullet for some pre-made ones for my new setup. I am leaning toward the wire formed ones, like the drift master and hills rod holders. Not sure of the whole 3/8" vs 1/2" thing though. The plastic Cabelas and Bass Pro seem ok if I was only going to be catching whites and the average walleye, but I am wondering about their durability with stripers. I use a couple of tube types that I made out of steel. They work, but one is set too high of an angle, and one is a pain to get the rod in and out of. Also, they are permanently mounted and I would not mind having some that could be taken down. Got some opinions/stories to help in the decision?
  8. I have a heck of a time getting my flickers any deeper than 12'
  9. you guys running the flickers that deep? or just running the boat in that deep of water?
  10. Now I just wish someone would post a map like the one above showing where to fish for crappie...
  11. Zarra gave you some good info there. I fish this area mostly myself, Indian Creek that is, and I have caught fish in the above area. I have also had quite a bit of good luck fishing up the back of Indian Creek catching white bass(I believe the sand bass is the same thing?).
  12. Nice! Thanks.
  13. I can never seem to get videos to post either. Would love to see it though.
  14. North side or south side area of the bridge?
  15. Thanks for the report. Now I'm itching to get out even more. Whats this magical spoon look like? I looked them up, seems to be a wide variety of XPS spoons. I have only fished with a spoon once, never done any good. So when you find where they are, twice over from trolling, do you start jigging while slowly drifting over the area? Or are you seeing them on the sonar and jigging for them in one spot?
  16. My first couple of trolling rods I did just what you described there Yak about knowing how much line is on your reel. I actually did it a little different and put braid on each of them. I measured off 75 yards I think and tied it to the mono that was on the reel. Then I would let the line out to where I could start to see the mono and knew I had 150 or so feet out. Of course, I could have possibly been in a world of hurt if a good sized fish got on and decided to run.
  17. If your mainly fishing your jigs below you, really slow trolling, then you should be able to turn the sensitivity up on your sonar and see them drop. I've done it out of my boat when slow trolling bama rigs. I'd watch them drop, then compensate a tad for forward speed. To test, go over some relatively clean bottom at the depth you think the jigs should be and see if you start bumping the ground. All in all, the best investment I made personally was to get line counter reels. Those things are the cats meow for being able to repeat trolling situations. Once you find out how much line to let out for a certain lure to get to a certain depth then you can replicate it anywhere.
  18. Thermocline1.pdf Maybe this might give us a clue?
  19. I really do not think that its algae. I am NOT an expert, but I do work at a facility where we deal with such things as this on occasion. While the dam end is very clear, its doubtful that light is penetrating 45+feet into the water. The #1 thing for algae to grow is light. K, did you troll over it a few different times to see if it was isolated to one spot? From the depth it seems you were in the channel somewhat. This would have been the perfect time for a camera to be dropped in the water.
  20. Those look yummy! Looks like a beautiful evening on the lake. I was fixing some walleye filets at work yesterday and a coworker commented that he has heard of a LOT of walleye being caught on beaver this year. I would have to agree. The numbers I have been hearing, and catching myself, have far surpassed the last few years since I have been hearing of them. Good thing for us I guess. Them things sure are tasty.
  21. I'll keep an eye out for you. . I would like to see the setup you got sometime. I've watched a lot of guys troll with yaks. Even seen them with downriggers.
  22. I've heard there are some big catfish in the lake....
  23. At 60' down?
  24. Maybe this will help
  25. Might be the last dot is touching the bracket?
