  1. Wow.....information overload !! Thanks Phil !
  2. Awesome colors on those trout. Pics turned out good. Thanks for a great report Phil. Can't wait to get back down there !
  3. Man I hate to ask.....but what is a jikka rig tube ?
  4. Slow draggin' a tube huh? That's my kinda fishin' QB !
  5. Where can you buy these ? That's an awesome looking bait !
  6. Keep the vids coming Phil !!
  7. Well heck duck....wish I'd woulda.known that. Could had met up ! I'll give ya a heads up next time. Got plans this coming weekend so be a.couple til I'm back.
  8. Put in at Branson Campground Sunday morning with my buddy Frank and his boat. Phone call confirmed 3 units on line so we boated clear up to the cable at the dam to see what we could muster out of the current. Right out of the gate we both hooked a rainbow throwing 1/8 oz. jigs on 4 lb line. Looked like it was going to be a good day ! By the time we got down past the ramp we had landed 5. We made 4 drifts from the cable before letting the current float us on down towards Fall Creek. I caught 5 and missed that many on a Cleo (chrome) and 1 on a Rapala Floating Minnow (gold) during the last pass. Frank did well with the jig (gray) too. Funny thing.....once past Fall Creek we threw out Power Bait and drifted clear to Cooper Creek with maybe 2 takers. Ran on down to the island above 65 and finished the day floating to the ramp...boated 3 this time. Had a blast fishing the trophy are with jigs.....watching Phil's videos had me fired up all week to get down there and try it myself. All I can say is it works ! Thanks Phil !!
  9. Coming down tomorrow (Sunday) with the boat. Gonna make our way up towards trophy area if enough water. Giving the jig fishing a try too. Will post results .
  10. During this influx of shad coming through the turbines....is the fishing only good in the trophy area or does it extend down lake at all ? I guess there's not much chance of dead shad floating that far and not being eaten ?
  11. Cool video Phil. What type and weight jig are you throwing ? You've got me intrigued to try this technique real soon. You say 2 lbs line ? Or 4 ?
  12. Sure thing . Bet they got what you need.
  13. That's the only good.thing about it Gator
  14. Hey Goggle....the trailer axle is from Wheeler Metal here in Spfd. Its a 2000 lbs 5 lug with leaf springs for $120. Son is getting it Friday and his buddys at work will help install and get the trailer tongue straightened out and rewelded. Be back on the lake in no time.
  15. I'll ask him today and post it before day is up. I know he's getting it here in Spfd.
  16. Yeah Wayne...it sucked. The trailer wasn't gonna come up and out easily on this one. Got everything home and new axle bought....so lesson learned. Son wanted to go with a 5 lug anyway so that's what I'll pay for. Call me crazy but a 5 lug..2000 lb capacity...with leaf springs was only $120. Cheap I thought.
  17. Wayne...I try and.figure its gonna feed something.....whether a mink bird or crawdad. Hard to do catch and release the conventional way without harming the fish (trout) sometimes. Best thing with bait fishing is set the hook at the first sign of a nibble instead of waiting til he runs. By then he's gut hooked. Be quick about it and hes usually lip hooked. Miss him ???......he'll be back.
  18. That's funny duck. I was figuring people would see us monkeying around with 2 trailers and a boat and wondering...what the ????? Won't make this mistake again believe me ! Glad you had a good.day on the water. Sounds like you did good. If you see me down there again say hi. I'm there nearly every weekend weather permitting.
  19. That's cool. Figured ya might had been throwing jerks or bass jigs why I ask.
  20. Hey Ducky....at Taney...what did you catch the bass on ? Heard there was a good bite going on around the wall.
  21. Should had stayed home today. Son and I arrive at the ramp in Branson Campground and as I back his trailer down the ramp it drops off the end of the ramp and is stuck. I've launched a boat here a 1000 times over the last 30 yrs and have never done such a thing. We tried to rope the bunks and lift it up onto the concrete but that didn't work. Only choice was 4x4 low and that was a big strain on the truck but out it came. Guess what.....a bent spindle and a cockeyed trailer. Knew that was going to happen !! So.....boat goes into a stall at Scotty's.... trailer off to the side in the brush....and back to Spfd. to get MY boat off its trailer and back down to get his. Dreaded a 3rd trip to get the trailer so we unbolted the axle.... lifted the trailer up onto the top of his boat....axle up into boat....ratcheted everything down and headed for home. Oh....did I mention we had to stop at my sons shop and weld a huge crack in MY trailer frame ? Geeezzzz......so much for fishing today. Thought someone might enjoy this......see ya next weekend !!
  22. I'll keep that fish if I've got a stringer going. Otherwise its a wasted fish if one is just fishing for fun. What else can a guy do ?
  23. Thanks for the report Phil. Son and I are coming down Sunday with his boat...putting in at the campground. Sounds like we'll have some drifting current for the day at least. Hope the fishing holds up for us.
  24. I know the rig isn't the go to bait right now but it will be before long......spring is coming right ? I'm going to respool the reel I want to use and I'm curious about using mono this time. I've use braided line in the past and did fine til the inevitable backlash sends the rig flying away to never be seen again and half the day picking out the mess on the reel. Have talked to some guys who use mono and do fine with it. I'm more curious on the lbs/test to use. Anybody want to share an opinion on what they use and why ?
  25. How many of us have caught a trout and released it only to watch as it goes belly up and sinks or just floats away on the surface ? That's even a lip hooked fish !! I can't imagine that the herons are putting a dent in the trout population when its stocked with 800,000 fish annually. Not to mention the 4 fish limit imposed a few years back....leaves 1 fish per man in the lake instead of keeping 5 like you used to.
