  1. Frog fishing is awesome. Nice fish
  2. Had the privilege to fly fish a private pond this morning. Threw a foam forgive fly on 4lb test And man was it fun. In 45minutes landed ten bass all over two pounds except one. Had a pig take it but got off in a brush pile. This was my first experience throwing a frog fly for largies. I think I'm hooked.
  3. Nice bench! Glad to see Ned riding first class instead of getting used and abused
  4. Had a change of heart today and went back to crane. Threw everything I had at them but they were real spooky today. Finally threw a brown jig with Orange head and whammy a huge mcloud on. My fly rod only had 7x today since I was attempting to be a midge drifter so it only took about 6 seconds for the trout to snap off my only jig. This happened at the same hole I lost a big one last time. I am goofing to tie up some flies and try again soon. Fish every where today good quality size.had lots of looks but water is clear and I'm not graceful at six am.

  6. I'll be down there Tuesday with a buddy hopefully the any bite is good since I just tied some up
  7. I just tied up some ant patterns for crane creek and roaring river hope they work for me they are easy to tie and I don't have much time for tying.
  8. Red or zebra work ok. Also, I have good luck with Griffiths gnat and cracklebacks , soft hackles work also. My favorite thing to use is a size 18-20 bwo
  9. Check the niangua forum under rivers. Lots of local guys giving advice
  10. I read an article in a dentist office once about a man who had almost lost his mojo for fly fishing. He had been several times and no luck to speak of. He recalled an old man at a fly shop talking about a muddler pattern, so he had purchased one. Upon arriving to the stream with no hopes he tried the muddler On the first riffle and much to his surprise he caught a fish... this story brought the muddler to my attention and I followed suit with the man from article . I then found Dave's hopper another spun deer hair pattern. Both terrestrial gold in my opinion. Its good to see everyone's differences and similarities on these patterns.
  11. Welcome I grew up on the niangua
  12. Crane is fine right now slightly cloudy water with overnight rain chances at eighty percent it'll rise a bit but only light showers tomorrow so could be real good day. Those trout are hard to sneak up on so light rain will help
  13. Walleye road access always a good area up or downstream. Browns down towards shoal creek at times
  14. Do you think a person could fly cast a cloister up by the dam and do any good guys?
  15. Foam huh? They look so fake but I've heard a lot of people throwing them.
  16. I like muddler and Dave's hopper
  17. What's your favorite top water trout bug?
  18. Sedge if some kind maybe
  19. Yeah same. They are predicting more rain Wednesday through Friday now though. It may be a river after all
  20. Mohair leech was very productive last week after first rains
  21. Caddis and bow are hatching pretty good. Lots of midges in the 20 size range
  22. If we don't get much more rain today or Tomorrow it should be great for fishing terrestrial flies. I live 20minutes from there and have several employees that live in crane who said it's not bad. I'm planning maybe Friday morning heading down. Met a stream team member today from there who said it was in good shape and that scuds in the 18 range were the most prevalent aquatic inverts in there now.
  23. Thanks Tim. I've had decent luck with mohair leech as of late. Just ready for excitement
  24. I'm looking to take some hopper flies out there
