What is 45 inchs long and had a twistie tail jig tipped with a nite crawler for supper? Attached to 8 lb test line and took almost 2 hours to land? After some pics I released it and it swam off on its own power. I hope it made it. I was fishing for whites and maybe a walleye when it hit just before dark. I cant believe my line held up, especially towards the end.

Dad and I went up towards J town and fished an hour or so with night crawlers and caught five pan fryers. River is in good shape but banks were a little muddy so didnt change spots to much. Perfect condition to float. Ice fishin was concluded and ended up catching a few crappies and bass on several outings. Finally found a small shed down on the farm. Over and OUt.

Just wondering about the smallie fishing below bull shoals dam if I were to take a canoe or kayak down this strech? Have not done much research on this section so it may be an opportunity since everything else seems to be flooded.

Went shed huntin today with brother Buck and as usual he found the first buck. A nice matching set. To cold to go ice fishing. For me anyway.

what artificial baits can you use(or not use) for smallmouth in the blue ribbon trout section. Or where can I get this info?

I have an old town kayak(cant think of the name) thats around an 11 footer. I have flipped it when it slid up on some rocks along the bank and Had my weight leaning away and not paying attention. So you have to pay a little bit of attention. 99% of the time their great. The other 1% its wet and cold and your cussin.

Hey BuckDandy I am takin offense to your suggestion that I struggle to catch a catfish; If i am not catchin any means that Im just givin them a break.

Went back out to lake on MOnday mid morning and caught probably 7 craps and a bass. Some of the crappies had some size to them.

Went out to the lake today. Temp around 50. Knocked a hole in about 3 inchs ice by dock. Had a few brief hits then finally caught 12 inch bass on a tube jig. I havnt seen many xmas trees left out by people this year, must all going artificial. Maybe i can still round up a few.

I live in nw mo so home water for me is Lake Viking, Grand River, and smaller lakes in the area.

So what would be your strategy if you were to get into these trout fishing tourneys? Unless you feel like your giving away to much info. I reckon Ill answer my own question since I have never been in one. I reckon I would throw some jigs, maybe try some vertical jig around drops or structure, and maybe troll some raps(if trolling is legal in a trout tourney). Maybe i come in 10th or last who cares. Maybe I should come down and see.

Thanks for the report. Was thinking about coming down but got stuck up here. Might try again if I here the fishing is warming up a bit. Did not reallize the water was that low.

Do any of you locals think the warm weather in the next several days will improve or effect the bite. Walleyes primarily!

Hello Self: Twelve degrees in NorthMo today. Took a walk in the snow with the bow but didnt stay out long. Saw lots of sign around my stand. Should have checked the pond ice. Happy New year.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid. Just think of all those quality pics I can post of you and your basket racked buck, or you falling out of your kayak after too many bezo's. Now Im letting everyone know you poo poo'd going down to bull shoals over new years. I would have paid for that. And by the way congrats on making your first post on this forum.
