  1. Sorry...I said James but it was Kings that I fished.
  2. Fished James River and RR Arm both yesterday. James in the AM in lot of fog, and RR later in the day. Both places were very muddy and covered with debris. No whites running that I could tell at either place. Water temps were about 49 at Kinngs yesterday, and 56 at RR arm.
  3. We put in at Viola yesterday morning and fog was very very thick. Couldnt see a thing until about 8:30. Lots of trash, debris and muddy water. We pulled out after a half hour and went to Roaring River Arm. No whites running there. There were quite a few people catching crappie in the Roaring River flow, fishing structures. Water temp at Viney was 48 and in Roaring River about 56 degreees.
  4. I was out early yesterday, put in at Viola. Fog was so thick you had to idle your way along until about 8:30. Probably the thickest I've ever seen it. Water was pretty murky from the Kings inflow, with a lot of trash floating. Really didnt try to fish very hard. We pulled out from thre, and put back in about 11 at Viney, and tooled around over there but no much going on either. Water was much clearer though. Ran up to Roaring River Arm, and there were quite a few boats crappie fishing around structures. We hit it for a while, and all I caught was a small Walleye. Went on up Roaring River to the mouth, and no whites running there. Slow day fishing but I got a good sunburn. Water temps at Viney about 49 degrees. Water temp in roaring river inlet about 56 degrees right before it joins main part of the lake.
  5. Fisher, Me and the boy will be out trolling for some whites on the Kings River on Sunday. Maybe try to catch a few crappie as well. I'll let you know how we do. Planning on putting in at either Kings River Marina or Sweetwater. One of the two. Mills
  6. Got into some white bass yesterday aftrnoon. Went upstream on the Kings almost to 86 bridge to get clearer water. It wasn't a great run, but in 2.5 hours of trolling,we caught a number of good keeper whites. Still some debris on the lake, but not too hard to avoid. Water temp was about 55 degrees. Talked to a few crappie fishermen and they werent having much luck. One guy said he went all the way across the AR state line (From Sweewater) and didnt catch any crappie, but had a couple of whites. My ten year old is hooked, and ready to quit school so we could fish through the week.....
  7. Bill, I tried pretty much what you said regarding where we trolled, but the water was terrible. I didnt realize we had that much rain/snow in NWA and SWM with that last bit of bad weather. It was muddy as an old farm pond. There was a lot of debris as you guys had mentioned in earlier posts. Had it been just me, I would have turned around and went back to the house, but I had my 10-year old son w/me and he wanted to fish no matter what. There were only two other trailers at the ramp at Viola when we got there, and we were the only people trolling. Needless to say, no fish. But...at least we didnt have to fight lake traffic. And my son's comment was this " at least we stayed dry this time Dad.." referring to an incident a few weeks ago that I wont elaborate on any more.
  8. Im planning on leaving work early this afternoon and putting in at Viola and heading up to Sweetwater to troll for Whites. Taking my 10-year old son with me, he has just been dying to get into white bass fishing. Im pretty new at it myself. Will be trying shad raps, berkely flicker shads, other various plugs for trolling. Will let you all know what happens.
  9. Are the white's running pretty good in the Sweetwater area? If so, can anyone tell me what the hot ticket is for trolling?
  10. Hey everyone, Im new to this forum, but am From the Flat Creek area.... My son and I are just getting into Crappie and White bass, and are eager to learn. Duckydoty I noticed you mentioned a 10 inch length on crappie earlier...thats not a length limit is it? I checked the MDC Regulations site and they do not specify a length limit.
