  1. Gosh, I can’t remember. I bought it from steel flex and used the latest and greatest they had but it was about 10 years ago.I chipped it up some but tried to be careful. I’d had experience with the product on a mud boat before. I never touched it up -I gave that boat to my dad when I bought my first Topwater. I will say this, you definitely don’t unhook the boat from the trailer until you’re ready for it to be in the water. The stuff is super, super slick!
  2. I put steel flex on the bottom of my old river boat years ago. It held up decently but big rocks will chip it off pretty bad. Creek gravel it isn’t too big a deal though
  3. The bug boat has done great this year. Not much I’d change about it if I had it to do again. The little boat is about 2 days from being water ready (minus paint) but it likely won’t be ran until the first weekend or so of January. To much going on the next few weeks to mess with it. inused to duck hunt like crazy also, -like 54 days out of a 60 day season crazy. Kids and responsibilities have kept me from it, but I still think about it lol. Got a couple nephews who are getting interested so I’ll have a good excuse to get back out there some 🙂
  4. Ok, funny story. 8yo daughter was helping me clean up a bit on the first day of welding. She ask what kind of boat it was gonna be and I replied, “ a duck boat”. She looked down and saw a “duck” in weld splatter/smoke on one of the stringers lol.
  5. It’s about a days worth of welding from being done -then paint. Gotta fab up a trolling motor mount, grab rails, and a rear seat/dry storage area. Just something to do while the farm is to wet to accomplish any real work. I’ll take a few pics when I get it done if anyone is interested. Kinda neat, kinda silly lol
  6. It’s a duck hunting “sneak boat”. Built one back about 14 yrs ago and I’ve always missed it.
  7. Just one. Had some leftovers lol
  8. Sorry, just saw this. I didn’t use a bender for anything in this boat. I used my forklift to press the stringers into the bottom before welding them up. Just the weight of the mast pushing down to get em flat 👍
  9. For sure. Sooooo much faster. There is 30lbs of 5356. .035 welding wire in this boat. Spool gun is where it’s at.
  10. Thanks guys 👍 Yeah, the boat does pretty good. 2072 tunnel with a 150 jet tiller and 3/8” poly on the bottom. I built it this past spring.
  11. It sure was, had a broken off fly in its mouth
  12. Note: we definitely weren’t using D2 jigs. It was corn, yeah, that’s right, kern... 😂
  13. Oh yeah, momma caught a brown too!
  14. Managed this fella over the weekend. Upon hookset my 10yo daughter (who was on the front deck with me) and I tangled our lines. I had to reel down past the boogered up spot and use the trolling motor to keep on him. Super fortunate to get him in. Didn’t have a tape or a scale. He was a dandy!
  15. Caterpillar drive engaged lol
  16. I’ve seen it so many times. Not running water until it’s too late and then having a major catastrophe. On my pool of the Arkansas River they decided to reclassify “flood pool” or whatever. They raised it 4 feet. I’ve got bottom land flooded way before we are in an official “flood”. To be fair, some of this land has flowage easement on it. When this was done it was for “occasional” flooding. If something is flooded every year to the point that it’s unusable is it really “occasional”? Sorry for venting, just frustrating having to make a living to pay the taxes to provide an operating budget to these goofs...
  17. Because the Corps does whatever they want with zero oversight -met with a senator who told me those exact words after our devastating flood last year. If there is a problem they blame it on the events, not their inability to plan ahead. I wish that everyone working for them lived along the waters they “protect”. Let their houses get flooded. Sorry, I’m bitter lol.
  18. 😳😳😳
  19. I’m not usually one to spread something like this, but I was just alerted that volunteer fire departments around Flippin were telling residents to get ready for 60,000 cft per second on the white. Supposed to be releasing that flow Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Again, I believe this to be true but didn’t hear the words myself.
  20. We fished 24-25k a bunch earlier this year. I liked it! Numbers were down, but caught some pigs! Just pay attention to your surroundings.
  21. Oh gosh, I’m not sure. 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch ID I think. It’s schedule 40 pipe
  22. Took my dad’s ancient river boat out a couple weeks ago and managed to catch a few good Browns out of it. I bought this boat 22yrs ago and it’s had a zillion fish in it. Hadn’t fished out of it in about six years -that’s when I bought my first Topwater LOL. Caught all these fish on D2 jigs 👍
