So I built a new boat...
JamiePatterson replied to JamiePatterson's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
It’s just an all minimum pipe with a point welded/ground on one end and a “T” capping the other. Wish I could post a pic 🤷♂️ -

Well, I’m trying to post a pic of the pole setup, but I think I’ve reached max data usage 😩 -

It’s a pipe welded into the front deck. The spud pole (or whatever you call it lol) stabs through and into the bottom so you don’t have to use a rope as often. Poor stays stowed under one of the catwalks down the side of the boat til you need it. -

Ran 4 adults, 3 kids, 3 kayaks, and 2 coolers up a creek in the boat so we could swim and play today. Handled it like a boss. This thing will float on a wet sponge lol! -

25gal. Seems about right. Might should have used 30 but most days I won’t burn 6-9. -
This brown looks mature, distinguished. Awesome Catch!

I agree. At a certain point it would be a lot less trouble to just run past me than slow down and take forever to get by. Hard to read minds out on the water though. I usually give boats a “come on by” wave -and that’s when I was in a 48” bottom rig. -

Mine didn’t come with trophies 😩 I’ve heard they are supposed to be great, hoping for good things!!! -

I ran a 60” bottom Topwater and it was great. The 60/40 is fine, but I wanted more power for 4 guys or long runs. Fuel storage was a problem in that boat as well. For me, 6gal wasn’t adequate. I originally wanted a Mercury 115/80 but along the way found this 150 -which is 105 at the jet. It was only a 50lb penalty to go up in power so I took it lol. Don’t plan on running it wide open in the white, but it’ll see full throttle a lot duck hunting. Guess I just didn’t want to end up short of power. ps: around other boats I’ll jus operate at standard river boat speed ie. 20-25mph. Fishing the Norfork yesterday I felt a few sets of eyes “shaming” me lol. -

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I welded the boat up myself. Built the trailer, painted em both, and wired it all up too lol. Only thing I didn’t do was mount the motor -but the mechanic at Cowtown USA let me help 😃 -

I do need to tweak it a little bit -it’ll cavitate running up the shoals in the Norfork catch and release. 😩 -

It goes scary shallow. Like, ankle deep. Not sure how many inches to actually float it. 6-7? It takes more water to cover the trolling motor prop than float the boat lol!!! 😂😂😂. -

Yeah, I get an idea and have to build it lol. It’s a problem... 30lbs of welding wire in this thing!!! -

Started out with this. It was supposed to be a summer project, but it kept raining -to wet for me to farm. -

Well boys, got tired of scraping the fiberglass off river boats, so I came up with something new. 2072 aluminum jet tunnel with 1/2” airboat polymer bolted to the bottom. 150/105 Etec jet on a tiller. Bring on all the funny looks, but the White just got WAY smaller lol. I figure I’ll run it typical river Jon speeds while I’m around others. When we are in open water I don’t feel bad about opening her up though. Put in at ranchettes today and found dingy water, so we ran to Norfork and caught fish all day. I was grinning ear to ear 😊

So much for Evinrude...

Bought a new etec last week... not upset they quit building ‘em, but I could have got a better deal lol! -

Well, this one has a jet foot stuck on it, so no torque. I absolutely love a tiller though for boat control. Back on the topic of small outboard’s, it was my impression that Tohatsu (sp?) made everything for Evenrude and Mercury below 15 hp. I think they make all the mercury 25 hp motors also. I had a 9.8 Tohatsu for a little while, it was great! -

Dang, sorry I put it up there sideways lol. So far I’m liking the heck out of the etec -

Well, that stinks about ceasing production. I bought this last week. They were the only ones who would sell me a “man sized” tiller lol... -
Any clues to what kind of flows they are gonna have? I haven’t seen more than 26-28k CFM since we’ve had our place on the white.
