  1. Thanks for sharing the article it was very informative Ron!
  2. Ok this is for all the tube bait fishermen out there. What's your brand, size, profile, color etc that you tend to rely on? Maybe for you its a one tube for many scenarios or maybe you have several different varieties. From single dip, double dip, even quad dip, standard cut to pro cut, or maybe even your own concoction. Feel free to include how you like to rig them. For me i tend to use a few brands. My biggest producer is the 3.75 inch original Gitzit from Canyon plastics in dark melon with purple flake, and dark brown with green and red flake. I normally throw them with a 3/16 zona tube jig. I also use and have had good luck with BPS double dipped tube in watermelon red and poor boys baits 3.5 tube in magic mango and green pumpkin. I've fished these in ever water clarity and streams the size of mineral fork on up to maramec and have always managed to do well. I guess the standard tube jig is my ultimate confidence bait for stream smallmouth (much like the ned rig is for many). I fish most of my tubes on a 6'8 avid MXF spinning rod with a stradic 2500 fj and #8 fluorocarbon line. So what works best for you guys?
  3. No doubt it's nice to hear they're checking people. Thanks for the report and the pictures quilback. I keep seeing everyone on here promote the ned rig i guess im going to have to break down and give it a try.
  4. thanks for the pics and the report!
  5. All in a days work. we will dig in and give em some hell!
  6. welcome to the forums Stratman! There's lot of great info from a lot of great fishermen. You've found the right place.
  7. i'll keep an eye out for you! Not sure on being more experienced but i am new to floating. I've always waded so this will be my first time really going out in a kayak. I really wanted to camp but my wife and little boy (he will be about 8 months old when i take this trip) will be at home and i wasn't sure on cell service since i've read it gets wild to say the least lol And i most def. factored the weather in that decision as well! I considered also giving the current a try since i wont be to far.I reserved a cabin a shady lane so if you wind up going that route stop by and swap stories and what they're biting on!
  8. The only fluoro i've had issues with was vicious. I normally run seagar red or if i want to spend a little more ill go berkley 100%. Granted i'm never using anything heavier then #8 so maybe that's why i don't have issues. I know once you go above that fluoro can be difficult to manage due to how stiff it tends to be. I will be giving Nano a try soon.
  9. I almost always run straight #8 fluoro or yozuri hybrid but i do have one setup with yellow power pro and fluoro leader. i use the power pro setup if i'd dead sticking any sort of soft plastic but i don't do that often. I could see it working well with jigs. I honestly don't use it often because to me it creates another knot to possibly break (though you should be checking those often!) and in the end convenience is another factor for me. I do very well with straight fluoro and i'm sure i could do just as well with a braid/fluoro leader it's just not used AS much. All that being said...i ALWAYS have my braid/fluoro set up ready to roll.
  10. its amazing that this bill is setup perfectly for a landowner to close off a stream yet Mr.Ross says that's not the intention and then the BS over it possibly improving stream privileges? And how exactly? Maybe if you own land said rivers and streams.
  11. Thanks SmallieBigs! I've had some property disputes with land owners around mineral fork a time or two while wading so this is something i'm passionate about. The worst part about area's like that is the locals usually tend to do more damage then people coming and fishing and floating. I haven't heard anything from either senators office but Ben did call me today. I don't have much to add really. Most of the people who are showing support tend to be surveyors and a group from bridgeton landfill. It seems at this point the bill isn't being bought by many people and the consensus is that it looks to have an up hill battle. Mr.Harris told me today that if it goes for a vote its looking like it would be the beginning of next week but there's no certainty that it even will go for vote(maybe shot down by the chairmen of the committee) i should hear back from him in about a weeks time.
  12. It does sound like a slight of hand to get some of pressure off of him. I called Ben Harris again today and he should be getting back with me soon. As soon as i hear from him ill post more information. In the mean time keep spreading the word through social media, calls, emails etc
  13. Thanks chief and Britt for the updates. I put some word out through social media and already have several people sharing the info. I include ways to contact Rep Ross should anyone live in his district or if anyone felt so inclined to speak with him. The response did seem like a bit of a blow off to me as well but here's hoping that it was sincere.
  14. I've heard that Bass Pro Shop purchased the license to make Browning rods back in 2003.
  15. they look good especially the olive/brown, ginger, and chartreuse white. I seen they had some rods on their shop as well.
  16. Fingers crossed on that one. I'm hoping Ben Harris gets back in touch with me in the coming days to elaborate a bit more on what went or is going down.
  17. checking out the zig jigs tonight Ham! Thanks for the advice my good man.
  18. I've been wanting to try nano for awhile but had heard some mixed things about it. As far as a spare spool goes i have yet to use one but i understand the want or need. spool size and overall size of the reel are important to me as i usually think Shimano's 2500's are perfect but i do have a few Diawa 2500's(about the size of shimano 3000's?) and 1 Quantum smoke pt30 spinning reel that i enjoy. They all will hold a lot more line then i will need to use. I feel all those would do fine for a ned rig you'd just need to find what felt best with the rod. Another good reel to consider around the $99 mark would be the Shimano Symetre 2500.
  19. Awesome article! That helps me to carry on a bit longer. Thanks for sharing.
  20. from what i can understand of the bill....it changes a lot of things! Is he that ignorant or just hoping everyone else is?
  21. yeah they're upset because some people are paying close attention to what is going on and not wanting to play along with their private agenda.
  22. The last few lew's reels i have bought came with a spare spool but my Diawa and Shimano reels haven't either. I thought the new revo and orra spinning reels came with them but i could be wrong.
  23. Good report Ham. I've been wanting to get back into trout fishing since reading everyone's reports and seeing pictures. I sure do miss it! its been about 8 years since the last time i went. Rekon i need to keep looking for a decent fly rod.
  24. The Diawa Lexa 2500 would be a great choice. I have 2 of them and use them for all sorts of fishing be it dragging tubes, light jigs, or any other plastic body of a jig head. They can be had new around the $99 mark on ebay.
  25. I was wondering the same. I'm curious how he would respond to someone from his district who really opposes this bill.
