  1. Seems to me that list isn't everything, just a lot of moving baits. Sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and scale down. When they're not chasing, scaling down to a smaller shaky head or finesse jig can pay big dividends.
  2. Beautiful fish, great report!
  3. I've never been down and seen so many whites in shallow, they were everywhere. Also some nice spotted bass. Casting larger crappie jigs and small cranks. No crappie though.
  4. Before, during, or already turned over?
  5. It's been way too long since I've been down and I really need to scratch this loz crappie itch. How's it been lately and what's the turnover looking like, particularly on the lower end? I assume it's already started. Does that thing shut the crappie bite down like it does greener fish? I've got access to a kayak but I usually just target them from docks. I'm gonna try to make it down a few times in between now and ice out.
  6. beautiful eye, now i'm hungry
  7. I'm jealous of the hours anybody's had on the water to perfect skipping a jig like that, let alone actually being able to do it.
  8. Fishing was about what I expected it to be. Only spent one morning out in the cove, any longer and I would have feared for my safety. Caught one keeper on my first cast halfway back in the cove chasing shad, and from then on it was steady dinks out of brush in 5'-12' FOW around docks.
  9. I'll be visiting family this weekend and should be out a few mornings for at least a couple hours around dawn. Has there been a consistent LM bite that doesn't involve main lake stuff? Having hardly fished LOZ at all this summer I planned on flipping and buzzbaiting around docks, although it'd be helpful to know what docks to be looking for...
  10. ^ This. I've seen nice ones come from the clear waters up Ha Ha Tonka, but never out of anywhere near the main lake.
  11. boy that 24... rubbing salt in the wound!
  12. Early morning before dawn will be your safest bet. We call 7mm home and I can't say I would ever risk running at night, for fear of being run over.
  13. x2. Caught a 25# flathead last Summer on cut green sunfish. I actually prefer them over bluegill.
  14. Thanks for the detailed report goggle eyed, especially after tough fishing. I know you only hear from a lot of guys after the good days, not the bad, but sometimes the bad days tell us even more. Thanks for sharing wrench (sounds like fun to me
  15. thanks oldplug
  16. Fellas - Has the night time bass bite settled in yet? I know in summers past it hasn't taken very long to heat up and get them cued onto the bigger stuff at night, but this year's been anything from ordinary. If not, what's the bite been like? I'll be down this weekend. I appreciate any feedback you're willing to give. CS
  17. aaand scene. great work everybody, I think it's time for a new thread.
  18. Me and a buddy caught +30 bass last weekend between crabtree and masters, all with healthy jaws. Sounds somewhat localized.
  19. Thanks No kidding, fortunately all caught had healthy jaws. Makes me sick knowing what's been happening elsewhere...
  20. The more trips the better your chances, because you're right - you gotta catch a few dinks before sticking that trophy!
  21. Whether you fish for bass or walleye, can we all be adults for a moment and quit trying to blame A-Rigs and trot lines? The MDC biologist acknowledged that this looks like the work of a knife. Enough said.
  22. All the bass we caught south of Crabtree and north of Masters were unscathed as well. Possibly a localized occurrence?
  23. Had the first chance I've gotten to really fish Stockton this past weekend. Got out on the water with the uncle-in-law Friday evening and all day Saturday. Even got the wife to come out with us later in the day Saturday. We launched in between Crabtree and Masters and pretty much stayed in that area the whole time as the wind made it hard to run down the main lake Saturday. We caught tons of fish all weekend, no monsters but almost all keepers in the 15"-18" range including a 16" smallmouth and 18" largemouth. The water was in the bushes so we threw shallow most of the time with shelf rock producing the best, and sticking the occasional deeper fish on points and in timber. We caught fish on hula poppers, finesse spinnerbaits, larger white spinnerbaits, t-rigged worms, shakey head worms, and jig & pig with most of the larger fish wanting spinnerbaits and jigs. Not many pics (missing a pic of her uncle's big smallie unfortunately) but managed to grab a few. It's hard to reach for your phone when you just want to get a line back in the water! On our way back I trolled a flicker shad and caught 4 or 5 12" crappies that were suspending in the creek channel, some of which still had eggs. For whatever that's worth. One of those weekends that's hard to drive home from, the wife and I drove home with plenty of memories. Can't wait to get back for the fourth of July! Does it ever get old?
  24. This is disturbing. Why are we trying to give this person the benefit of the doubt by cooking up all these hypotheticals? It's very obviously the work of a blade, based on how clean of a cut has been made in that second pic dirt racer posted. It makes me sick to even think of, and it's the definition of animal cruelty. I only hope that it ends, and whoever's doing it gets what they deserve.
  25. Paper chart! Bonus points! Sounds like a nice piece of water. Hopefully I'll get down there sometime.
