We've pulled a good number of fat spots out of 25-30 ft of water on spoons the last few weekends on main lake and secondary points. Lots of them have been spitting up baitfish at the boat! Last weekend we launched out of cricket creek and fished out at the mouth of Big Cedar Hollow. We got into a good school of white bass for about 30 minutes, we would pull one up and three would follow, really made for a good day! After we lost them we started throwing around a ledge that had fish up on the flat breaking all over on shad. We pulled spots and smallmouths out on spy baits and spoons, it was pretty normal to see them choking up shad at the boat. We moved back into mills branch and caught a few more pitching jigs before we called it quits.

Anyway you could meet near I-44 on friday evening? I could have $100 cash for the st. croix/daiwa combo on my way from St. Louis to Springfield.

Anyone been in the last 2 weeks? Water condition (levels & color)? Edit--------------------- Rainy morning/sunny windy afternoon water: 58deg, clear. Attempted to put in at beaver creek and the ramp was flooded.....went to Empire park and fished from 7-3pm....very few bites, wasn't sure what the fish were doing. Rained on/off all morning, fished jigs and and texas rig worms/lizards/brush hogs, wacky rig (didn't have any blue/black plastics with me). Saw bass schooling in and the grass for a short bit, couldn't hook up. Sun came out from behind the clouds for a bit with some wind, threw a spinner bait back in the creeks around cover....no bites. Failed to locate, or present properly to what we located.... Talked to a few guys fishing a small tourney that morning they had moderate success for a 3pm weight-in, winner was fishing jigs and worms, I believe the winning weight was 9lbs and change.

It was close between 1st through 6th! What was it? 3-4 pounds between 1st and 6th? We rolled up to the dock with 11 pounds on a 5 fish limit and were a little shocked when you told us we had a chance! LOL.

what size do you run? I run about 38/30 pant size, which at 43-44 (largest girth) would probably fit me with a normal layer of clothes on. Where about in St. Louis? I'm located in Dogtown, just south of the zoo. -Matt

Gates open at 4:30am, i went twice over thanksgiving...both times there were at least 3-4 cars already in line at 2am.
