Getting hairy out here... Hail and Severe TS watch/warning... Pea sized hail about 2/3 miles north... Glad its there not here... Need to dry out this darn grass and get it killed and tilled.

Got my Hobbit on tonight. got the huge bolt removed from the tiller! Able to get another round on all the beds. Going to get cooler again the next few days plan on getting the beets, onions and garlic in tomorrow The Beds need a bunch more passes..Getting there though! Indian Corn Plot Sweet corn (lower) and Zuccini/Squash Plot (upper) Little place for the birdies... have three out there now.. this is the last one.. They get pissy if too close to one another Watermellon and pumpkin (distance) Indian Corn (Closest) 4 tilled gardens total..10 raised beds.. Not sure I have enough jars for canning the tomatoes and beans and pickled beets, pickle relish, salsa... May have to order more. The sweet corn, zuccini will be frozen, the root veg's will be stored in the cellar.. Taters, Onions, Carrots, Turnips, Garlic and Squash (all sorts ....Spaghetti, Acorn, Butternut...)

Use to use an old corn planter similiar in function with my Pop-Pop. They are nice.. the one we had dropped about 3 kernals of corn per set. - a bit heavy with todays seeds. back then you needed at least three seeds because we were planting "Heirloom" - Last years seed. So germination was not enhanced with rooting hormone or whatever they coat todays seeds with. putting 3 in per set was fine. I hear ya on the Back!!!....But....I'm gonna just grit thru it.. back be darn.. need the exercise.

Just had my tiller bind up.. checked the tines.. was a foot long bolt wrapped around the shaft.. managed to destroy the retainer snap ring and other parts.. was leaking oil.. let the neighbor borrow it. not sure it happened during his use or mine on the new property.. could have picked that up from the soil anywhere.. Got the parts ordered today. Hope they can get here (really dont want to use my hoe's for the bulk of the tilling and weed remediation). Now I just need to get a packet of RedMan Chewing tobacco and pull up a tater crate and fix my Tiller... Pop-Pop would smile down watching me fix the tiller. He had a barn full of lawn equipment that he fixed for folks. He was a Snapper repairman back in the day when he ran the Service Station in Stillwater NJ.
