  1. I have never broken a rod (due to stepping on it, car door, tree etc). However I did have a rod that after fishing set it in the back of my truck and the tip section snapped in two, a clean break. It was a white river classic and was two years old. I took it to the store and they replaced it with no hassle. I really like that rod blank over other higher end rods I have owned for some reason. The action works perfectly for me.
  2. www.gremlinfishing.com I bought mine from troutlet.com when they carried them for a short while. Like I said, they are decent for the money (good for a backup or inexpensive set up)
  3. I have an Eagle Claw Black Eagle BE34 that I use on my featherlight. It cost me $20, a few websites sell them, as well as ebay and it has a decent smooth drag and will hold plenty of line (even in the smaller size). They are a run of the mill battenkill knockoff, but make a good cheap reel. They make another fly reel as well with a direct drag ($40-45) but I've never used one.
  4. It wouldn't bother me, I couldn't catch fish like that regardless, or on a nymphing rig for that matter (I couldn't catch a trout with a nymphing rig if it was laying on the bank ) I fish this way in some of the creeks around home as a backcast isn't possible, but I am usually just throwing the line and a fly, no sinkers
  5. Phil, nice new look to the site, I like it alot
  6. I did some more research on them and I notice there is no line guide so they don't operating like a baitcaster. I guess I will have to clean up my Zebco 11 reels and get them working good again. They worked great when they were new.
  7. wow, how do you really feel? I guess I have a double standard, I don't mind doing business with big companies but I will never work for one again, just doesn't suit me
  8. I have a couple of light action 5 1/2 foot rods that I use for creeks and ponds. I took off my Zebco 11 reels as they don't cast very well. Does anyone have experience with Crappie reels. Can you actually cast tiny jigs with them? Jason
  9. Kyle, They just redesigned this rod. Did you get the new one? (most likely that you did) They went from a medium to a medium fast action and I think they might have improved the hardware. I used to have one of these and it is a great rod for the money...no reason why you shouldn't get plenty of enjoyment of it while fishing Taney or where ever.
  10. not sure why I am not figuring this out but I cannot get an image on the forum. I selected "insert image" in my post after uploading the pic, then copied in the link, but get an error message. Is anyone else having problems?
  11. I walked around at the lower access Sunday morning. Very clear water right now. I am still trying to figure out where the lower CA ends. There is a sign on the road opposite the parking lot that posts the fishing rules, and right next to the bridge one that reads "end of MDC area". The MDC map does not show access on the other side of the road, but does show a small portion right next to the road on Swinging Bridge Road. I am confused. I guess I should check this out with MDC.... I did see some fish in the water at the city park, not sure if they were trout or not as I did not have polarized glasses on and there was a bunch of glare.
  12. The flies went out this morning....
  13. Sorry for the delay. Flies going out today. We had one no-show therefore that set of flies went to Rolan Duffield for photos (Thanks Rolan). Jason
  14. My thought exactly!!! Thanks for saying it! Thanks Don Jason Filbert
  15. I just made quick edit that could also be helpful
  16. Open a command prompt , then type tracert 226.219.95.18 (the public IP for www.lilleyslanding.com and www.ozarkanglers.com) This will possible show where the bottleneck is (an internal or external address where it either gets stuck or has a very long response time) Many firewalls out there have their own content filtering without having to even touch the server on the network. It can be drilled down very tightly. It could also be a DNS problem. He/She can also put the aforementioned IP address in the address bar of their browser and see if it goes to the BIMS website, if it does, then that means a likely DNS issue, which could be taking place directly on his computer or the DNS server it is working from (DNS Domain Name Resolution, that tells the computer which IP address to go to when you enter a name such as www.website.com) Another quick thing to try would be to clear your internet history. I have people all the time who cannot access a specific site (due to all kinds of errors) but then it works after clearing history (one bad connection attempt that gets cached and needs to be cleaned out). This also depends, can he access www.ozarkanglers.com and just gets blocked when trying to access www.ozarkanglers.com/forums? I hope this helps...but if not I would be glad to answer any further questions
  17. I am hoping to go 300,000+ on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma. I just turned 100,000 on it and it drives and runs the same as when I bought it. No real problems yet, one a/c glitch and I had to replace a blower motor (as every vehicle I have owned) and a door lock assembly, nothing else though
  18. Using a Ketchum release will help you keep your hands out of the water and off the fish which helps (but doesn't help with getting wet from handling the line)
  19. I got the last batch of flies in the mail today. I will send them out in the next day or so. Getting them divided up and packaged tonight. Jason
  20. I'm looking forward to seeing them. Thanks Jason
  21. No problem Troutchaser, hope you are feeling better We will wait for you to send the flies
  22. Zander, I am very impressed to hear that they will allow you to contribute to Trout Unlimited. The matching part is a great incentive as well since you are likely involved with TU already. I have experienced twice when a company practically demanded the time from employees and made the decision on their behalf which is totally wrong (not a big fan of corporate culture). These things should be by choice only (especially when folks including myself already help out with organizations of their choice.) Glad to hear this... Jason
  23. no word from Zach Bearden, still waiting on Troutchaser as I believe those flies are still being sent.
  24. good info CC, Thanks Jason
  25. Flyfshn, I got yours, still waiting on Troutchaser as there were some shipping issues. I have not heard from Zach Bearden. I sent a PM to him.
