  1. I respect your professional opinion but as for southern Oklahoma, there may be a little ethanol, but not much, not nearly 10% and that's from my own eyes and someone that I trust. Bob
  2. good to know that I have a place to fuel up in the area I'm staying next week. Thanks Dave
  3. But sir you are incorrect. The new vehicles, my truck included, will run and perform on ethanol gas because it's designed for Flex-Fuel but the gas mileage is significantly down graded. As for the damage ethanol fuel causes it's because of the condensation ethanol fuel promotes more than the actual performance of the fuel burning (BTUs) itself, which does burn hotter than regular unleaded gasoline. Also if you have a vehicle a little older like my 2008 work car, the ethanol laced fuel makes my engine ping/knock horribly. I could delve into the chemistry because I did the research when I bougt my new boat / Merc 250 outboard. They recommend absolutely no more than 10% ethanol by volume and even with that they require a stabilizer.
  4. If you run Mercury they have a fuel additive for ethanol, but even with it my mechanic says that you should still run as pure gas as possible. He took a test kit to all the stations in our town that had "no-ethanol" and found only two places with < 1% and three places with as much as 3%. He says this is because of the ethanol "left over" after switching back and the traces in all gas.
  5. I started both my kids at about 2, my son was 5 when he caught his first rainbow on a flyrod. You're absolutely right, you need to keep them entertained. I plan on wearing the back of the coves out with a cork and a worm. One saving grace, she is a daredevil and enjoys 'driving' the boat as fast as she can....so if push comes to shove we can just drive around between short fishing spurts until we find some fish.... thanks and congrats on the grandkids, I never knew what my dad and father-in-law meant about grandkidlets until I had a couple.....
  6. do you recommend buying the first one now and waiting to buy the second, or waiting and buying both at the same time?
  7. I quite fishing tournaments many moons ago and one of the main reasons I haven't started back is church. I wish there was a "Fishing for Christ" type league/club down here. Just too far to drive to the Grand Lake area, maybe I'll search around some!!
  8. Well it seems I've fished for 50 years or so with only a couple anchors, I can probably live without the PP or Talons, but the idea sure seems nice......
  9. I'm going to jump in with both feet, I'll either buy two 10' or preferrably two 12' talons. Like you I have to sell the Chief of Staff Household on the idea of plopping down another 5K after buying the boat with reluctant acceptance, not approval. She probably won't admit it, but she loves the new boat so I'll sneak the Talons in this summer
  10. tend to like fishing skhallow but can fshdeep oo
  11. Really though is vandalism an issue there?
  12. Need to park your trailer in the same spot and hide in the bushes with a pellet rifle, "monkey ambush"
  13. KBC? what part of the lake is it?
  14. thanks, talons are coming didnt figure I'd use them much on the Rock...LOL. down here though I fish several lakes where they will come in handy and one I think I can use ANYWHERE on the lake.
  15. if you have a cell pm it to me and I will definitely get with you, I looked all over here for the aforementioned goodies with no luck...thanks
  16. fishing in OK? I'll be there all week
  17. Thanks everyone, I will be posting pictures of what I catch, hoping it's not just an empty livewell.... If anyone sees a big fat guy in the boat below on the water, say hello. I'll probably be sunburned after about Monday.
  18. I will be fishing from a boat
  19. obviously never mind.....
  20. I'm spending a week on Table Rock and I'm sure will take tons of photos of the lake and the area. Would like to post them but not sure how. Bob
  21. what are the projected conditions and expectations for next week on the Taneycomo?
  22. there's always something to catch or at least she likes to "drive" the Retirement Rig.......
  23. I will drive right by the OKC one, and not far from the Tulsa/Broken Arrow BPS. it looks like mushroom head and senko like tail? specific brands better than others? specific colors better than others? I understand you make the best heads around dtrs5kprs, have any sitting around?
  24. with a lake as clear as TR, does the murky water put the fish down?
  25. don't let a lot of time pass before you get your dad or brother in your boat again. I'd give almost anything to be able to fish with my dad or brother again!!!
