  1. Its time to get stalked up on baits tacle and maybe a new rod. Check out Grizzly Jig Company. They are located in Caruthersville,Mo biggest crappie selection in the US. They carry EVERYTHING you need rather tournament fisherman or weekend warrior. Super nice poeple, fare prices, and HUGE selection. Super helpfull all of staff fish and know products. Check them out on web. Half of whats in their catalog is not on website though. If they aint got it at everhearts in clinton grizzly will have it. Just throwin them out there if anyone's looking. Everhearts FINALLY has website finished.
  2. Been fishing the white runs at stockton for 20yrs And high muddy water in the river makes it tough usually the guys that know where to find them are the only ones catching any. Ralda if you head to little sac youll find the whites in the mouths of feeder creeks up river. Fish the mouths of the creeks where the clearer waters coming into the river. Walnut creek by orleans is good, Eudora spring by taylor, and Slagle creek by 215. You can find them all on google earth and how to walk to the mouths.
  3. Ralda...now you got it with the cat fishin. Go to orleans bridge and throw worms or cut shad if you can get them. They should be tearin it up. Aldrich area might be good also? Good luck
  4. Normal water conditions will put first shoal below taylor bridge second at powerline and third below. RR bridge and so on. Hope this helps ya.
  5. I stay around orleans bridge and usually do well. Deeper water and you get fish comming and going from river. Learned after yrs of white bassin farther up river the smaller the fish. I got this info from MDC fish biology team waiting to launch there boat to shock walleye. White bass spawn goes like this....males head up first to fan off shoals. Biggest males will get the first shoal up from lake they run off the little ones to the next shoal And so on till last yrs studs are so far up river they never get to fertilize Eggs. The biggest sows spawn on the first shoal dump eggs and go back to lake. The smaller sows may run to the next couple holes due to lack of males or suitable spawning grounds. Usually putting yourself between the 1st and 2nd shoal up from lake is the hot spot. Im no biologists but its helped me zero in the last 7 yrs when i use to fish whites hard. If youve never seen shoaling spawning whites its crazy. Hundreds of fish you can see right in front of you and wont bite anything its mind boggling. Hope this helps you get a better idea on whites spawn.
  6. Sounds like you need 6lb floro to cover your crappie and ned rig fishing. 8 lb floro would cover your shaky head, drop shot, and jerk bait. 10 or 12 lb for cranks and 20 lb floro for flip/pitch and big worms. I would throw the spool of big braid behind truck seat for tying in loads. I hate braid it sucks in the wind and its hard on your equiptment. Just my opinions.
  7. Kramr...Sounds like JR Oldhams boat.
  8. Agreed. Im usually chasing crappie when the whites are at full swing in the river. Just comparing journal logs on march whites yrs past and wanted to know if anyone agreed with they should up a little better by now.
  9. Colton. Powerline hole is about a mile walk up river. I would walk the south side through the fields. Have to cross 2 creeks one running one wet weather. RR bridge is closer walk down the old track (trail). Its off 215. PM me if you want more details
  10. Great report. Nice mess of white crappie. Looks like them boys had a blast.
  11. Dad fished up from taylor this morning said he had 3 males in 10 min and went dead. Moved around alot and picked up 1 more. 4 fish in 4 hrs. He went back this evening Orleans fished till dark for 2 bites No fish. I have it logged On paper several years in a row we caught limits of males at orleans the second week of march (stupid of me not to log water temps). Think the temp fluctuations with rains 2 weeks in a row is pushing them back? Shallow water yrs are usually not as good of a run (My Opinion).
  12. I ues to fish Caplinger quite often and with good secsecess. The mixed bag opertunites there are second to none at a bank fishing spot. Burnt alot of gas figuring out if they arnt running water at stockton dam or its not up from rains to head somewhere else. Either call or web corps to see what generation schedule is. Find out when peak gen is and be there an hour after gen cycle starts. I was told it takes water 4 hrs to reach Cap. hope this helps ya.
  13. Im jellious of how much you get to fish SRJ...haha. I would have gave anyting to find 55 last wk. Please keep temps on that end of lake posted i would greatly appreciate it. Trying to decide between LS or BS Arm for friday. I'll keep my opitions open.
  14. I Hope not. Anyone check out JRs vids on youtube? Really worth looking at! Look under Stockton Lake think its hawkeye productions or anglers midwest.
  15. Dont know if your opposed to live bait or not but if not i would use minnows or jigs tipped with minnows. I would look at what depth they are staging and pull off that much line off my reel and clip it in line ear on spool (spinning reels) then your in there Face every time you drop down. If they are crappie make sure you are a foot or two above them (rememder they cant see down). If they are whites you should have the sand paper thumb pretty quick. Good luck
  16. Your exactly right aggressor. The lows at night are killing us right now. Temps are always like a roller coaster early spring. Thats just Missouri weather though.
  17. It took me several yrs and many a gallon of gas to develop mine but waiting on temps to come up mid 50s before it becomes affective. Im a firm believer in learning a core area on the lake and developing solid patterns that work yr in yr out and sticking to them. I used to chase fishing reports and fly around the whole lake and never came home with much. I would love to spill my guts on my patterns not saying they are the only way to catch them but they bring home the meat for me yr after yr. But i had to work hard and spend alot of money to develop them. I will always give honest reports and say as much as i can without giving up the whole puzzle. Just keep your eyes peeled for my posts and put 2&2 together In your area(s) of the lake.
  18. As of last saturday the water temp on BS Arm googer all the way down to Birch and also Sons greaser was 48. Mid lake temps are way below staging temps i sstart find crappie start stacking up staging around 55-57 degrees (just areas i fish). I cant give you lower lake temps (Aldrich) (Greenfield Access) but i would like to know myself later this week (if anyone gets out) to put a plan together for this friday. But like you've been saying aggressor its still a little early. Im ready for 58-60 degree water temps but its ganna be a while thats when my patterns will be most effective. Till then i just try to learn something every time i go. PRE-SPAWN crappie are tough!!! If anyone has a proven pattern on them yr after yr I take a bow to you!
  19. SRJ Im a bait builder myself and know what its like to be stacked up with orders. Its awsome and awfull at the same time. Got outta selling to overwhelming for me. It also freed some fishing time. I fish with alot of my own baits and do well but it husts a little more to break off than store bought. Ill keep my eye out for your baits. I dont bass much anymore but i still get the bass bug on acasion. I would rether fish hand made then big box but thats just me. Fish on your own lures mean more also. I incurrage more fisherman to get into building its really not that hard just take time.
  20. SRJ is right about Bob B. I would use Bob or JR Oldham Anglers Midwest.com they are the best 2 guides on Stockton (just my opinion). You cant go wrong with either youll get your money's worth with these 2. Hope i dont offend bob throwing JRs name in there both are super nice guys also.
  21. Unless you have a small boat/motor i wouldnt. You would be fine in a flat bottom or smaller V but unless you know the norrow channel in low water conditions you may end up with some damage if tried in a bigger boat. If you do run up i wouldnt go much past the bend above Orleans Bridge... unless you think you can make it. But thats just me...with water conditions now.
  22. Yes it is. We are all ready but the fish aint. Not sure what water temp up LS is but the fish say its still to early. Figured the walleye would be up the river by now, but havent heard anything. Walleye guys are usually tight lipped though. You wont know there bittin till its over, unless your going yourself.
  23. Zarraspook is all over it thats coffman forgot to tell ya Angle Rd turns into S. 40
  24. Sorry 1 crappie 0 whites
  25. My dad fished Orleans Bridge area today. Fished the Horse shoe and all the way up river to the big rocks. crappie ZERO whites. Said ran into one guy had 3 small studs only person he seen that had any whites. He was in the old flat bottom so i cant give you water temp. Said about 8" VIS but not rollin mud. Hes pretty salty on the LS whites and if he didnt catch any i myself aint goin. Didnt check Taylor or above so cant tell ya if they are there up there or not. I fished up at powerline bend above taylor LAST WEEKEND and nothing. Went to taylor say a guy had 3. Didnt even fish there. Went to Orlean got into some small studs I mean small. Found some decent males by bluff below horse shoe bend.
