  1. Slab, let us know how you do. I'm going up for the third wk. of July. Going to run jugs also. I never have but going to give it a try. Thanks.
  2. Thanks guys. I've been following all the reports of high water and talked to a couple of resorts and not sure it's going to be the best time to come down. It bums me out. Never been on BS's and was really looking forward to it. I'm going to watch and see what the water level does. If it goes down enough to get some boat ramps open then I'll try and get a cabin.
  3. I'm hoping to come down in middle of July and run some jugs. Have been looking at cabins in the Isabella area. Is there any good places in that area or is there a better place? I haven't been able to find any posts on here about catfish. Is there any in the lake?
  4. J-Doc...Thank you for this thread. I'm new to fish finders and boat fishing. You have definitely inspired me to play around with my finder. I have a couple cheap units right now but will upgrade soon. I've read the entire thread and now will go back and follow some of the links you have provided. Once again, thank you.
  5. Ketchup, thank you! I would love to hook up. I was hoping to come up tomorrow night but not sure the weather is going to be good. I will for sure be up this weekend. Oodlesiggy, I did not know that trolling curves were set at 1.5 to 2 mph. I am definitely going to get an app so I know my speed. I bought line counters so i know how much line I have out. Thank you everyone for the advice, I can't wait to try it out! So much fishing to do so little time.
  6. I do love the cup holder!!
  7. Thank you everyone! Ketchup, I wondered if people were using trolling motor or gas motor. I'm new to all of this. I've only had a boat about 2 months. I'm learning and have gathered almost everything I know from this forum. I really do appreciate all the info. Dutch, I've got a friend that can get some good deals on Lowrance electronics but have to wait until July. Ketchup, I've got the dive curve for 7cm Flickers. How deep should I run them? Just above bottom or should I try different depths with several. Right now my wife and I are using two rods a piece.
  8. I've considered trying an app. on my phone but haven't.
  9. I don't know exactly how fast I'm going. I usually set the trolling motor on 3 or 4 depending on the wind. This is a question I have asked before. I see other people say exactly how fast they are going and don't know how they come up with it. I've been going just fast enough that I can see the action of the lure in the rod tips. I'm using 10 & 12 lb mono line and I followed the S. bank from Cedar Ridge to Maze Creek. I stayed mostly around 20' fow because we caught a Crappie right away at that depth. Thanks for the response any help is much appreciated.
  10. Night fished Maze Creek last night and trolled flickers this morning. Set up on timber in 25-30 fow. 6 keeper Crappie, 16" Walleye and a few no good, line tangling, light snagging White Bass. Just can't seem to really get on the fish, but its still going to be a good meal! Still have not done real well trolling, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Was a good trip with the wife! Water was mid to upper 70's. Sorry no pics.
  11. That is frickn awesome! I've been wanting to try around the dam area but haven't yet.
  12. Very cool! My wife wants to go night fishing this coming weekend. Can't wait!
  13. Thank you WM. I checked them out online and they are kinda expensive. I will get some but don't want to lose to many. ?
  14. Thanks for the report. I have been trying to learn to target Walleye lately. Guess I need to get some crank baits. I see people talking about Flicker Shad on here a lot. Is that what you would recommend?
  15. Packersooner, Boobie, thanks for all the advice. I think I have a better grasp on the situation. I can't wait to go try with a little more knowledge. Ok. A few more things I need to adjust. I have probably had my bouncer on the bottom to much and I've been just dropping it as fast as it would drop. And I should check my rig more often after getting and missing a bite. I don't know how many times I've reeled up to find a mangled crawler. And as Boobie said I need to move along and cover more when I'm not catching. Once again thank you!
  16. Packersooner, Thank you! Sounds like I need to change a few things. Heavier bottom bouncers, Im using 1oz L shape and have been fishing 20-25 fow. Also need to make sure rig is cork screwing. Part of the reason I was going deep to shallow was because I didn't have a depth finder on the front of the boat. It was the only way I could think of to cover the point. I have a cheapy for the moment that at least tells me the depth. We tried today with limited success but we were not covering all depths like you described. How do you know your speed?
  17. Ok. New to OA and boat fishing. I need a little advice. The wife and I tried to target Walleye yesterday using slow death rigs. Fished a few points on the Big Sac arm right at the south end of the State Park. We dropped our rigs in about 35' of water and would troll very slowly up to about 15' and then turn and go back out. Working across the point in that fashion. We did catch 1 eye that was 14.5" and a few keeper crappie along with a small catfish, carp and drum. What do we need to do get on the fish?
