thanks noodle. the way the forecast looks i doubt I'll be dragging anything to 30ft. With you guys' info im sure I'll start at bluff ends and main lake points throwing jerk, wiggle wart, crawler, squarebill, spinnerbait... but will go check out some in the creeks etc. Will post a full report when i get off the water

Thanks so much cheesemaster for the info, I'm also not one to fish deep with any success. I'm sure I'll have plenty to report of things NOT to do to catch em ☺. Happy thanksgiving!

Not too much to report but for what it's worth - Put in about 7 to calmer than expected conditions and ran down river. Decided to focus on a small area since we hadn't been on the water in months. Started on main lake points on the east side of the pictured map. Fished both points and inside the cove with jerkbait, spinnerbait, wart and a shaky head with one dink to show for it on a wart. Left to shoot across to the SE facing point of Wooley creek but it had a boat on it so we fished a couple wind blown swings inside the creek with no luck. Water temp was cooler as we moved into the creek (50.9down to 50 even in the back 3rd) so we worked back to the mouth of wooley. Caught a few a piece with only one picture worthy LM that went 3.7. Caught them just inside the point in about 8ft. Hit the next similar facing point to the north with one more dink and called it a day by 1130. Felt like it should have been better but there's some piece of the puzzle we missed on. NH View full article

Launched at 7-ish from mutton last night, fished til about 130. Found them on a couple channel swings and points on main lake. Caught a few deep as 25ft before the sun went down then started catching them much shallower on those same swings. Also after dark found some off those swings in shallower pockets. Shaky head worm in black w/green flake did most the damage. Nothing too big, biggest was just 2.5 but a fun night with maybe 30 boated. Full moon is coming, planning to go back next weekend

Thanks a lot! Water still muddy from floods or clearing up?

Coming up to stay with a friend and run around hunting bass all weekend. Dont make it to LOTO very often, was hopeful someone could shed some light on what the bass are up to the last week? Also, anyone know current water temp and visibility? Staying close to "camp pa he tsi" area, which is state park, right? Unfamiliar with lake... Thanks for info, any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Also hoping to go tomorrow afternoon. http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/District-Lakes/ says 40-41 as of yesterday. Thought it might be higher than that. Surely plenty of color but not muddy anymore. Water temps say i should start main lake swings to target bass, can anybody confirm? Thanks!

I fished out of cape fair down to wooley and piney with my wife from about noon-5. Tough day for me, too. Caught one on shaky head and one on a wart, both in wooley creek. Water was dirty, maybe 8-12 inches of visibility from cape down through piney. Dont fish quite as hard when wife comes along, but we tried all sorts of things and nothing worked. Oh well, nice weather for 3-3

Things change quickly, but was this bite main lake? Swings? Transitions? Points? Aldo, if anyone has been around cape fair since the rain, is it log jam city or runnable? Thanks to all, great resource here to help the hopelessly lost such as i!

Curious about winning weights from this one...? Thanks

Thanks for the descriptions guys. I actually rarely fish Table Rock, im closer to stockton, and when i do im usually out of cape or mill creek. I was mainly was hoping to take those descriptions and apply them to map study to find my own spots... i appreciate being shown a specific spot, but half the fun in fishing out of a bass boat is the hunt for them, and using maps and planning is the most rewarding part!

If i may ask, how would you explain what a "main channel rolloff" looks like on a topographical lake map? No high dollar depth finder with gps etc on my boat so i rely on map study prior to my outings. Not asking for specific spots, of course, but understanding this kind of terminology helps improve my preparation. Thanks!

Feels like a dream. Fyi both those fish came on 2/0 shaky head with a little TRD in green pumpkin glued on. Killer river bait for smallies

My wife and i purchased and remodeled my grandparents home in the second half of 2017 and we are officially moved in! The home sits backed up to the James east of town, and we couldnt be happier. It was a lot of work (full gut remodel) but well worth it! The best part, bar none, is the river access! While it is quite a hike, it is manageable with a rod and backpack. Hiked down late afternoon friday and finally got to fish the river instead of just working on the house. I am so lucky to have this in my backyard! Attached are pics of my day - for January, I'll take it! Pics wouldnt all load, so they are in next post

If anyone gets out today an update on the ice would be appreciated as im going to try and go sunday for first time in months!

I like a medium 6ft6 fast action rod with a 6:1 gear ratio baitcaster. Great all purpose setup IMO

Bassfisher, When you run into creeks, do you follow that creek channel as starting points for 2nd points, pockets etc? Or does that not come into play as much for you? Trying to soak up all i can. Thanks for input Nick -

Bassfisher, my post was about Saturday, but congrats on your success. I fished from mutton south into Sons and on down past Birch branch. I seem to be able to drum up bites on main lake swings/points regardless, but i think there are fish on those spots year round, right? I just cant find them very well as they transition (if thats what theyre doing now) and definitely not finding any fish much bigger than 2lbs regardless of where i catch em. A few pics from the outing, nothing special though Nick -
Launched at 7am saturday hunting for bass and looking forward to clouds and wind for a change. Seems every chance i have to go lately it has been blue and slick. Had a good game plan (i thought) to fish south facing main lake channel swing points and inside those points plus a couple secondary swings. Two of my first three spots i had mentally circled had boats on them early so my plan was obviously in a lot of people's minds as well. Hit those areas with the tackle box: multitude of topswaters, spinnerbaits, shad pattern cranks, chatterbaits, jerks and soft plastics when possible. Ended up with about 16 fish when we got off the water by 1, but that number was saved when we gave up fighting the wind and tucked away inside a main lake point and plucked 6 or 7 within 30 minutes, mostly dinks. Didnt measure, but none any bigger than just barely keeper size. Caught them both on main lake and secondary but only 1 or 2 per spot. More sun than i expected, and i wonder if i should have waited and launched at noon and fished til dusk, maybe barometer drop had more effect late PM. Anyone else do any better than us? Sincerely, Confused...

Mofloatjunkie about summed it up. I'll add throwing 3inch grubs in and around cover in swift water. Clear with black flake on sunny days and smoke or white on cloudy days works for me

Waited until the rain cleared and floated with the in-laws and a few friends yesterday. Fishing was decent. Threw the tackle box at them but it boiled down to an 8th oz shaky head with a GP ZOOM critter craw or a zman TRD in GP or PBJ. Boated 15 plus a handful of goggle eye. Pic of the biggest of the day Fun day, great weather

25 inches, no weight
