I see these creeks on the map and was wondering if anyone fishes them and can give me some advice? I want to try and fish all of the Blue ribbon trout creeks and streams this year.

I haven't been there since I sold my boat. I usually did well on the regulars, Jig & salt craw, Spinner baits cast to the banks and crankbaits on points. If the weather is good, on the weekends the boat ramps will be backed up. Especially if there are tournaments and it seems like there are always tournament. During the week it's not nearly as bad and you can have the run of the lake. I didn't use the Ray Behrens ramp after a while. it is the closest to the St.Louis area fisherman and therefore the busiest. I did like the lake but I don't go there anymore. I fish the rivers now.

Haris122, I made it down Thursday but didn't feel it was worth posting. I got started right after the siren and started at the first falls and caught a nice pumpkinseed on one of my first cast. Seems like I have been catching more sunfish lately out of the springs. I wound up missing a few and losing two but managed a nice 16 inches below the big hole at the beginning. Caught him with a white sparkle Wooley bugger. I left around 2:00. I did see a lot of nice fish and full stringers. One trout I saw caught off the bridge probably went 2 1/2 pounds. The two boys let it go as they had a couple decent ones on the stringer already.

Good report. The Current is a special river to many of us and you captured it well.

I wish, Have you seen my last couple of post at the BSC thread. I do enjoy fishing the small creeks and rivers. I look forward to Lane spring opening back up. I would like to hit some of the other little creeks out that way.

I am sure that the lack of rain has put a damper on the creek fishing but it seems like the absence of trout has gotten discouraging. I remember your post where you mentioned otters. Does anyone have any info on how much damage a family of otters can do to a small creek like BSC? I am glad that I have other options to fish. Maybe a real rain may wake the creek up.

Went to BSC on Wednesday thinking the rain would have put a stain in the water. That was not the case. The water level was up but I found the spring extremely clear and not one trout came to hand in about four hours fishing. I can't make any excuses but I really expected some different results.

Does anyone know if you can access the park during this period between the end of C&R and The opener?

I was down at Maramec Springs Monday and while some did well I didn't fair as well with one fish to hand and several lost. I have been having trouble keeping fish hooked up lately. The one I netted was on a San Juan worm and the others were on a size 18 pheasant tail. It was a decent enough but frustrating day. The fish up near the Hwy 8 bridge could have been anything possibly a Brown. Bill

Harris122, the sizes on the soft hackles I used were 14 and 16, standard colors, The Cracklebachs went 16 and 12. The talk around the big hole was that there are some browns in there but none were taken while I was there. There are a lot of fish in the water there but I haven't gotten bit anywhere else in the park. The C&R ends Feb. 13.

Fished the Spring from early till around 12:30. Fishing was pretty good though it was cold at the start. Ice freezing in the tip guide cold. I did ok on soft hackles and others fished Cracklebacks. Everything had to be close to the surface or they ignored it. Sorry, no pictures.

Nice fish, Did you get a measurement or weight. It looks so big in the picture it makes me think you need a bigger boat.

I am considering going down there with my tree pruner and harvesting some hardware. Finders keepers, losers weepers.

I made it down to BSC today and it was LOW & CLEAR. I did manage to pull a few fish out including one nice one but I really had to work for them. I was using 6X fluorocarbon. I would bet that the otters did a number on the trout population in the creek. Like Matt said we need some rain to get the water levels up and murky. I really like that little creek

Nice to see your post, Matt. I was considering a trip down to BSC this week. Last time I was down there she treated me pretty badly. I have been waiting for a little rain to wake the girl up. Nice post and a nice day on the water. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

There are no trout in Blue Springs. The otters have ate them all up.

No, the first marked lot you come to on the left. It was a bad choice for sure. The water was gin clear and the Sun was shining right down on the creek. I could have left to try another area but wanted to see if there were any holes to check out. By the time I quit. I did check downstream and there was a hole but the water being as clear and low as it was even that one only gave up two darters. I wasn't happy with the results but now I know what is in that upstream stretch. Oh well, there is always next time.

One of the biggest news stories of the twentieth century was the one about shark attacks in a river on the eastern seaboard. Three or four people were killed or injured by a Bull shark. that I believe was finally captured.

Fished the creek Friday. Picked a section I hadn't fished before to scout it out. Not one fish came to hand. I had the sun shining almost right down on the creek,the water is super clear and low. I had parked at the first parking lot and went up and down the creek but the water level and the ever present log jams made for tough fishing and wading. Beauty day to be out and did have two bucks and a doe cross the creek upstream of me, that was pretty special
